The French Revolution And The American Revolution

A revolution, by definition, is the overthrow of one government followed by replacement with another. The American Revolution against the British during 1775 to 1783 and the French Revolution pitting the French people against their own government during 1789 to 1799 were both very important political and social turnovers. This movement towards the establishment of a constitutional government influenced political thought throughout the world. By closely examining three of the main causes of these revolutions, it is clear that although the two revolutions have their differences, the basis of cause for the revolutions have, overall, much stronger similarities.

What is revolution? It occurs when the country is going through a difficult time and there needs to be change. It could be a small or big change for the country. There are a few reasons why revolution can happen. One of the reason is hatred towards the government. People wanting new political views and want better ideas. As Donald Trump won the elections, we finally have a republican in power since people were tired of the democratic policies and beliefs. Some might just want a social change in their lives. There are four type of revolutions that have occur over the past centuries which are hunting and farming, agricultural, industrial and microchip.

By definition, a revolution is the overthrow of a suppressive government in favor of a new government, but it is also defined as a large change in society, or how it works. After the discovery of the New World by Christopher Columbus, European Nations competed in a race against one another to claim pieces of the new land. Before Columbus found this land, the sea separating the New World from Europe seemed endless. The Europeans were only interested in the land to the East. But with the New World there was so much to explore. The Europeans tossed aside their old toy to go play with a new one. During this time period of conquest throughout the New World it became known as the Age of Exploration. A New World meant more land, which meant places to build homes and plant crops, and more money to be earned by buying out new houses and selling new crops grown in foreign soil. These times of change are known as the American Revolution.

Revolution is a common part of life, from the relatively simple revolution of changing your individual life, to a nation becoming severing the ties that bind it to its past. Xinjiang, Chechnya, and Quebec are all areas that have experienced revolution on a massive scale. However, not all of them followed the same ideal of revolution.

Revolutions are series of uprisings that are in favor of a new system in a country or nation. Most revolutions are successful but some are not. Two successful revolutions were the Haitian and the French. The French and Haitian Revolutions had many good outcomes but it took a long time period to accomplish their individual goals. The Haitian and French Revolutions had similarities, both started by Enlightenment ideas, but both were very different because the French Revolution created chaos whereas the Haitian Revolution developed freedom for slaves.

It is evident it was a revolutionary war due to the quintessential characteristics it possessed such as the discontent of the oligarchical regime and the unequal distribution of money and land. What is a revolution? By definition it means the overthrow of a government by those who are governed. That is exactly what the French and the Mexican revolutions were all about. The living conditions and overall treatment of the poor, pheasants, lower class, last man on the totem pole or what ever you want to call them, was a large factor in the coming of these revolutions. "Those who are governed" are exactly what the lower class people were. Also, liberty was one of the people's major concerns. They were ruled by men whose only desire was power and greed which is what led them into revolt.

Based on the information provided to me from the text, and my own personal thoughts, I am a firm believer that we are in a revolution at this day in age, and will always continue to be in a revolution so long as the human race is here. I believe that being human, means you’re always changing and society is always revolving. As there are countless revolutions occuring at this time... I will like to state a few that I have personally witnessed. These are: a political revolution, describing the never ending changes in the United States Government; and a cultural revolution, a fairly old revolution that has been gaining momentum in the past few decades.

Likewise, the leaders removed Porfirio from his position, but it created a bigger problem. People started backstabbing each other to take over the leadership of Mexico. The French Revolution was similar to the Mexican Revolution because both nations went through harsh conditions to establish a better government, both of their governments abused their power, and both achieved human rights in many ways.

A political revolution indicates a radical and complete change in the government. Although Thomas Jefferson, James Madison and Alexander Hamilton were great revolutionary thinkers, plenty actions taken place in the American Revolution were opposing social liberalism. As the thirteen British colonies fought for their Independence from Great Britain, they were attentive to which principles and policies to converse. After the American revolution, the Founding Fathers retained a few colonial and British customs.

In my world history class, our teacher, Mrs. Tomblin taught us about revolution. I define revolution as a revolt against a government or a social system in favor of a new one. We were taken back to the past to learn about many revolutions. We learned about the French Revolution, the American Revolution, and the Glorious/Mexican Revolution. Each revolutions has a story and a lesson. I learned that it takes a lot to start a revolution. It takes an idea, drive, and often, blood.

Before the arrival of the French Revolution, more than 40,000 people were killed during a period known as The Reign of Terror and thousands were terrorized. What is a revolution? After that period, I have learned that revolutions are caused by corrupt governments, social injustice, and nationalism.

Revolutions represent most of the big changes in history. They can be classified as political, economic, or social, while some of them can be classified in more than one of these categories. Revolutions bring important changes that can have a worldwide impact, from industrial or sexual revolutions, to independence wars and governmental system related revolutions. Some of these events have a lot of things in common, but having numerous differences at the same time. The French Revolution was a social/political revolution which took place in 1789 until 1799, having as one of its most important figures Napoleon Bonaparte, and the objective of changing their governmental system.
