For many people in the United States gay marriage is a sin to their religion and will not be tolerated. For others It is a right to be able to marry whoever you love and is considered discriminatory if you do not accept it. To start off, legal gay marriage started in The Netherlands on April 1, 2001 with a Female and three males two of the males were legally getting married while the other two (one female and one male) were previously married legally.Second, Legal gay marriage in the United States first happened on May 17, 2004. Same-sex couples should be able to have the same benefits as hetersexual couples since there are 1,138 benefits rights and protections that married couples automatically receive once married. Also, taking these rights away from them will make things unfair. You might think, “Who says that we have to be fair?” Well the bible, the bible says to treat everybody fairly. With that, a huge amount of homophobes are christian since what they believe in is god and he made a man and a women. But, he also said to treat people fairly. I truly believe that gay marriage is a right and you should be able to love whoever you want. Nobody should be able to stop you from getting married and living life the way it was meant to be lived. I am on this side for many reasons. First, I feel very strongly about anti-discrimination and think that not allowing someone to marry the person they love is just horrible. Also, not allowing people to marry could cause an unpeaceful environment and I think that we should all be at peace with the people around us. Third, for most homosexual people they are born that way and there is no way they can love anybody else unless it is there same sex, so we are denying the right for people to be themselves and live a happy life the way they were born.
