For many people in the United States gay marriage is a sin to their religion and will not be tolerated. For others It is a right to be able to marry whoever you love and is considered discriminatory if you do not accept it. To start off, legal gay marriage started in The Netherlands on April 1, 2001 with a Female and three males two of the males were legally getting married while the other two (one female and one male) were previously married legally.Second, Legal gay marriage in the United States first happened on May 17, 2004. But this doesn't mean gay marriage was legal all over the United states. Oral discussion over this topic happened on April 28, 2015. On June 26,2015 it was finalized that gay marriage is a right protected. Though, there …show more content…
Same-sex couples should be able to have the same benefits as hetersexual couples since there are 1,138 benefits rights and protections that married couples automatically receive once married. Also, taking these rights away from them will make things unfair. You might think, “Who says that we have to be fair?” Well the bible, the bible says to treat everybody fairly. With that, a huge amount of homophobes are christian since what they believe in is god and he made a man and a women. But, he also said to treat people fairly. If that's not enough, equality is a big protest all around the world and not allowing these people the rights and protections of marriage could not only lead to homosexual anger it could lead to anger all around the United …show more content…
I truly believe that gay marriage is a right and you should be able to love whoever you want. Nobody should be able to stop you from getting married and living life the way it was meant to be lived. I am on this side for many reasons. First, I feel very strongly about anti-discrimination and think that not allowing someone to marry the person they love is just horrible. Also, not allowing people to marry could cause an unpeaceful environment and I think that we should all be at peace with the people around us. Third, for most homosexual people they are born that way and there is no way they can love anybody else unless it is there same sex, so we are denying the right for people to be themselves and live a happy life the way they were born. Finally, a quote from is “People should be allowed to marry, and gay marriage should be out there. If a man or a women has a good partner and they love each other with their heart and soul let them
Same-sex couples should have access to the same marriage benefits as heterosexual couples. Prohibiting same-sex marriage is unconstitutional discrimination.
Same-sex marriage should be marriage because everyone is equal, love is always right, and people have a right to choose their own soulmates. First, equality is a basic right, which means everyone should get the same treatment. The restriction against same-sex marriage is an offense to the dignity of lesbians and gays, because it limits the range of relationship options open to them (Mello). The limit of same-sex marriage is against homosexuals to enjoy the same right as heterosexuals. It is not fair for homosexual to get the different treatment. There is a law to declare that legalizing homosexual marriage is to achieve the basis of equality come true. (Albertson).
Gay marriage has been an issue for a very long time and since some states are legalizing it, many worry that it would soon be added as an amendment. The topic of gay marriage brings up religious, legal, and many other issues. In "What's wrong with Gay Marriage?" by Katha Pollitt, the author supports gay marriage and wants it legalized. She states that there is no problem with gay marriage and it's all a matter of separating the church and state. But in “Gay ‘Marriage’: Societal Suicide,” by Charles Colson, the author opposes the idea of gay marriage and states that it will destroy society. Marriage is intended to unite a man and a woman together to bring children into the world, but due to the same-sex marriage,
Over 70% of the country agrees that gay couples should not be allowed to wed. Many have religious beliefs that God made men and women to marry and procreate. Some feel uncomfortable with the idea of two men being attracted to each other as well as two women being attracted to each other. Society has formed the idea that marriage is to be between a man and a woman so seeing anything different seems unnatural to some. However, many of these people are closed minded to the idea of gay marriage because it is different from their own personal lifestyle.
I support same-sex marriage because I see no valid arguments against it. The majority of arguments against gay marriage are based on religious perspective. In the United States, the First Amendment to the Constitution guarantees separation of church and state. Therefore, religion should not have a place in either the formulation or implementation of legislation, including questions of who has the right to get married in this country.
Gay marriage has been one of the most common topic under discussion, arguments and quarrels since couple of years in almost every nation of the world. Looking deep down to the region of United States, same-sex marriage or gay marriage has not been legalized and documented in most of its jurisdictions. However, it is prudent to note that with the beginning of the twenty first century, only a few of US states have legally recognized the gay marriage through court verdicts and legislative proceedings and have lawfully allowed the gay people to get into a relationship (Wolfson 2004).
The American government is robbing gay individuals of many of the benefits that straight people get. First by not legalizing gay marriage this could include the lack of social security benefits that have been delivered to straight individuals who have a both male and female.
To begin with, people who are against gay marriage are those who have homophobia or the hatred or fear of homosexuals, these people same with some religious people believe that gay marriage should be abolished because they consider that type of marriage not marriage at all because in the Bible a traditional marriage is a male and female to get married
I agree with you that not allowing homosexual people to marry robs them of their rights and it does make them second-class citizens. They should be allowed the same rights as anyone else because love is love. Society should not have the right to deny them of marriage because their preference does not fit “societal norms”. This is unfair to these people and by far not right.
Gay marriage is one of the most controversial issues in this modern world. In my opinion I do not consider “gay marriage” marriage, because marriage has always been a covenant between a man and a woman by its nature. When two men or two women “marry” it denies the reputation of keeping the human race and the raising of children. Gay marriage also violates the natural law, and we should follow “avoid evil and do good”, the natural law is for every human being in the world and we should follow it by marrying the opposite sex. I believe that Gay marriage is one of the most unfavorable law that could of happen. I am against this law because not only it breaks the natural law but it also brings more diseases to homosexual people and instead
“My thoughts on gay marriage are that everyone has the right to love and be loved, and that's the position I take” (Nick Jonas). Over the years, some courts of the United States have ruled for the denial of marriage licenses to same-sex couples. “The movement to obtain civil marriage rights and benefits for same-sex couples in the United States began in the 1970s.” (LGBT) During the 21st century, while several countries elsewhere in the world were opening marriage for same-sex couples, public support in the U.S. for same-sex marriage has grown but not yet fully developed. Our civil rights and the Constitution give us many liberties. One of our civil liberties is the pursuit of happiness should be to marry who we want. Although, all that was
Gay marriage is one of the most controversial topics being discussed in America today. Today in America, Christians feel like that because the bible states that homosexuality is a sin and then it should be illegal. A few states have taken the first step and started to accept the marriage of same sex marriage. I Believe that the government has no right to tell people if they can or cannot get married. Their choices doesn’t have any thing to with security or credibility of the nation , and it does nothing to affect
Same-sex marriage and straight marriage do not have the same rights. Same-sex couples are denied equal access to civil marriage. If same-sex couples enter a civil union they are denied equal access to all the benefits, rights, and privileges provided federal law to married couples. Being denied to all these rights they should have may harm people who also experienced discrimination based on age, race, ethnicity, gender, and religion. The APA (American Psychological Association) believes it is unfair to discriminate and deny same-sex couples legal access to civil marriage and all of the benefits, rights and privileges. (Wikipedia)
Same sex marriage has been widely looked down upon for ages. People say, “It’s not the traditional constitutional marriage”, or “Children need a mother and a father”. It honestly doesn’t matter. If two people love each other, they should be allowed to marry. It’s just as simple as that. What other reason do you need? If two complete strangers of the same sex want to be together for the rest of their lives, we should let them.First, denying some people to marry is discriminatory. Judge Sarah Zabel of Miami-Dade Circuit Court ruled the gay marriage ban of Florida unconstitutional. She stated that it, “serves only to hurt, to discriminate, to deprive same-sex couples and their families of equal dignity, to label and treat them as 2nd class citizens, and to deem them unworthy of participation in one of the fundamental institutions of our society.” In other words, you’re looking down upon same sex couples that want to get married as if they’re lower than you; that they don’t deserve the same rights as us. Same sex couples would be able to enjoy the same benefits as heterosexual couples if they were able to be married.Furthermore, the General Accounting Office made an assessment in 2004 about the benefits that heterosexual married couples have that same sex couples could not. Some of these benefits include hospital visitation during an illness and the option of filing a joint tax return to reduce a tax burden. Imagine not being able to see your significant other in the hospital
In this country there is a flawed assumption that gay people enjoy the same civil right protections as everyone else and there are a lot of stereotypes about gay relationships. Living as a gay individual in this country can be extremely overwhelming and scary. When it comes to marriage between gay couples, controversy is bound to turn up. There are numerous arguments as to why gay marriage is not “right” such as; it offends everything religion stands for, marriage is for procreation, and gay
