The social class in America is everywhere but it is often quite hard to recognize only because it is against the American principle for the social class system to exist. Whether we know it or not, we tend to participate in the class system.. By doing so, this leads us to separate ourselves based on our social class system, including class discrimination and social mobility

America’s classes appear to be split up in three sections: Upper, Middle, and Lower class. People categorize each other depending on what they wear, where they live, who they associate with, and what jobs they have. Income and wealth have a substantial part of the American class.

There is much debate about the issue of social class in the United States. There are arguments about whether social classes are distinctly separate or fluid, dependent upon one’s community or society as a whole, and if they are subjective or objective (Hughes and Jenkins). However, despite the debate surrounding social classes, it is still important to try to define them and analyze their effects, as they are such an important part of our identity and our opportunities in society. Although our society has tried to appear as though we have no classes, and it is becoming harder to tell what class someone is in by material goods, classes do still exist today (Scott and Leonhardt). Social class is a “tag” to define your status in a community. One of the main requirements you must have to be in the Upper class, is to have wealth and power. That is basically it, and obviously the absence of those characteristics could mean you are in a Middle or even in the Lower class. Sports are an activity that people do for pleasure that requires physical activity and sometimes has rules for the players to follow in order to play the game. It is most commonly played outdoors. It can improve your cardio, health, and physical condition. For example, it can prevent things like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer or even mental illnesses like depression.

The United States is often seen by many as a country of equal opportunity. A place where social classes do not exist. Unfortunately, thoughts such as these are wrong because the US is far from being the only country to escape this exception. When observed closely there are signs that each person manifests that distinctively show what social class they belong to. Although money is the most common marker of class, education along with health related topics such as heart disease and eating habits are strong inicators of class.

The book says and it makes sense to an extent that people of lower social status have in general poorer health and higher mortality rate. Beyond that it makes a whole lot more sense that there are numerous and annoyingly complex factors that can lead up to the poorer health that relates to lower status. The book also talks about race, which really goes and links itself with the social status parts, since in America (which is what/where they mentioned) there is a moderate alignment of race to social status. Now when bringing up higher socioeconomic status that doesn't necessarily mean a person will live longer, regardless of race, but it certainly helps. Prestige is given to a person through the line of work or the family that they come from. For example, upper-upper class member Jennifer Lopez reeks of prestige not only because she has millions of dollars in her bank account, but she has very expensive luxuries, cars, and houses.

This is very influential in the U.S because it keeps track the economic background of a society by putting them into class .If I had to put myself into one of the three class I will cast into the poor class. I will put myself into that category because my family and I work day to day to pay off debt and our necessaries based on our income which places us into the class of the poor class in our society.

Although their arguments falls on the negative line of observation, I am a firm believer that a dedicated person has an equivalent chance of succeeding as someone born with a silver spoon in their mouth. Anthony DePalma considers the two contrasting lives of Mr. Zannikos, a self-made business owner, and Mr. Peralta, a struggling illegal immigrant, to further illustrate the arguments of Smith and Marche. The main factors that contributed to the changing of Mr. Zanniko’s and Mr. Peralta’s stories includes their citizenship status, their support system in the Unites States, strategic planning towards their goals, the closeness of ties to home.

We have gone from the basics in life as our American Dream, to wanting more than what we could ever have. Fundamentally, the American Dream is about ensuring success for every person in the country. Success not being the newest car or highest paying job, but equal opportunities to achieve goals and contribute to the well-being of society. The Declaration of Independence ensures the freedom of the nation, while the American Dream protects the rights to improve life, despite what social class a person is in. The American Dream was ideal for those in poverty because they knew if they were dedicated to working hard, they could transition from dirty poor to filthy rich. Just the idea of someday, being somewhere better allowed early entrepreneurs
