At first, some people believed that student success relied all on the students to make the best decisions for themselves, but now some may believe that the students need more than just themselves to be successful. Students need the support of their parents and teachers to keep them on the right track for their suture. If the students have extra time after doing all their school stuff, they do that the choice to do extracurricular activities at school or in their community. Anaheim schools can improve student success if the following changes take place: The students should have classes for a longer period of time, the students should be motivated by the adults in their lives, and student’s should be doing what they mostly like and try their best in it for a better future.
Student Success Relies On Them And Their Effort
Anaheim High School has each class(6) for about fifty minutes and a thirty-minute lunch with a six-minute passing period which is more than enough time. The students waste so much time on things that won’t help them get a better education. In KIPP schools if you take an average day and you take out lunch and recess, the kids are spending fifty to sixty percent more time learning than the traditional public school students. The students in KIPP schools spend most of their time educating the student and the student is okay with that because they know that they are the ones who are benefiting from the knowledge. It’s true that if we have less free time the more
After graduating high school everyone has a plan or idea over what they are going to do. Some people go straight into college, work, and some even take a year off just to enjoy themselves. Some people have it all figured out, while others do not. Those who really want to be successful in college will make a plan over what they need to do to have a successful college career. I believe that everyone should learn some good college tips to help them be successful in college. All it takes is hard work and dedication.
Many schools are now organizing school day schedules to maximize instructional time and minimize non-instructional time, such as recess (Pellegrini & Bohn, 2005). Schools made this shift in response to increased state testing and the associated pressures of funding. Some also believe that the shift to more instructional time and less non-instructional time was worsened with the adoption of Common Core standards in elementary schools. However, this may not be the best move for schools or for long-term student success.
Some of the main arguments the author acknowledges is the amout of students who do not succeed either in high school or college. Points are signed out by explaining how the lack of money or education frustrates the students. A topic is mention based on how even graduated students do not succeed as much in life. These people took college for four years or more, invested a lot of money, and ended up being a truck driver or working with sewage. Which makes no sense because they received a certificate to earn a good amount of money and unfortunitly have to look somewhere else because of the need of money. Topics like this or lack of money and education are frequently repeated.Freshman college students fail the most because instead of being taught
Anaheim schools can amend student prosperity if the following changes take place. By giving a long extended of school time to understand their material, Teaching students to have a growth mindset to surmount obstacles which leads to more motivation. And finally, students should participate in an extracurricular activity to be able to lean on how to manage time and build skills.
I develop myself professionally by always being on time and dressing appropriately. I will arrive everyday prepared and organized to teach so that no teaching time is lost. I will strive to continue my education far beyond college with ongoing professional development which will give me opportunities to learn new things. I will set goals for myself and collaborate with other teachers to help myself become a professional educator.
The kind of student that I have been is the kind of student that does classwork as best as I can, but if I have trouble I usually don’t ask and i don’t do very much homework. A way I have discovered I am successful in studying or homework is putting a note somewhere obvious to remind myself to do it. I also think flashcards are very helpful for studying. A way that I am struggling in homework and studying is that I am lazy so I don’t want to, I am bad with time management, and I procrastinate too much. In order to be more successful in this class I would have to stop using the internet because that is my go to for procrastination. I don’t think that that is realistic to drop completely even though I would like it to be it has taken over a lot
Throughout my life, I have always been pushed to strive for success from the people around me. Grades, co-curricular activities, and service commitments have all been prioritized in my life; which they should be. However, things do not always turn out in my favor. Poor academic performances and failure only seem all the more mortifying in my eyes. As much as I have yearned for success, there has been times in which I have faced downfalls. The problem was, I did not see what I was doing wrong. There was something that I lacked in my learning and it ultimately came down to be grit. Driven by characteristics of perseverance and responsibility, grit is the epitome of an exemplary learning attitude. This year, without a doubt, hasn’t been an easy
While some schools have hours of learning in schools, Anaheim schools only has around 7 hours. In order to increase student success at Anaheim schools we must have longer school hours because it will help us prepare for college and be successful. “Our kids are spending fifty to sixty percent more time learning than the traditional public school student” (12). What this quote means is that KIPP students are spending double or more hours learning than a regular student and that is what is making students more successful.”The day goes from seven twenty-five until five p.m. After five, there are homework clubs, detention, sports teams. There are kids here until seven p.m.” (9).What this quote is saying is that a day for a KIPP students isn’t a

Success starts with education. Working alongside students, partnering with them, through the academic challenge is my passion and my joy. I never grow weary of watching students discover and unleash their potential.
The Foundations for University Success course has offered several resources to students pursuing an education to establish a personalized approach to educational attainment. This course has provided me with resources in the areas of critical thinking, goal establishment/attainment, ethical decision making, applying the writing process and other resources needed to establish academic success.
Many Anaheim students face challenges every day. Their own personal problems at home and trying their best in classes with exams and class work. So much pressure can lead to being unmotivated. Teachers and parents should be motivating their students/children to do better at school so they can succeed in the future. In this documentary a mother wanted her daughter to become a doctor but after seeing her daughter take the dance class, she changed her mind. “ I wanted her to grow up as a doctor but if she wants to sing or dance, she has my support” (Agrelo). This mother had a goal for her own daughter but once she saw that her daughter was doing amazing and she was changing she finally saw what she was capable of doing. She will support her daughter
Although, there are innumerable resources for freshmen academic success, many do not have the motivation to excel in school. According to Education Corner, “The vast majority of successful students achieve their success by developing and applying effective study habits… So if you want to become a successful student, don't get discouraged, don't give up, just work to develop each of the study habits... And you'll see your grades go up, your knowledge increase, and your ability to learn improve” ("10 Habits of Highly Effective Students"). In other words, when productive study habits were established and the freshmen were motivated, then their grades would rise. A new habit cycle for a high school student needs to start with a plan: the cue would
Every high school student dreams about furthering their educational career once they graduate, but when ever there’s a high there is a low. Some are able to attend college without a care in the world since they are finacially stable, but others like myself have to struggle their way to find money just to be able to pay one class. Although, I havethis huge gap keeping me from reaching my goal of majoring in special eduacation I will not let money control my future, I will do whatever it takes to help my parents pay off the class and this is why I come to you today. It would be a great honor if the Guadalupe & Lilia Martinez Foundation can lend me a hand to help me achieve my life long dream. Growing up in a hispanic household I knew that money
"If a nation expects to be ignorant and free in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be" (Thomas Jefferson). As members of a democracy we have a responsibility to educate ourselves. This is one of the reasons why in the 21st century, such a big emphasis is put on pursuing an education. The main reason is that it is seen by many as the only way to get a middle class job and live out the American dream. Unfortunately, something is not right in the education system. After six years in college, only 53 percent of students are able to graduate (Burke, 1). All students, whether they graduated or not, are ending up with enormous amounts of debt. On top of that, even the students who are graduating are struggling to find jobs and pay back their student loans.
