Helen Keller once said, "Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much”. Some people may not believe that teamwork helps get things done, but teamwork does help things get done as shown in real life as well as books such as Star Wars. Star Wars is a must-read tale that teaches a valuable life lesson through conflict that holds true even for today’s teenager: coming together for a common goal is powerful. In Star Wars, the author uses conflict to teach the reader that coming together for a common goal is powerful when Wedge says “You did it! You did it!”Wedge was shouting over and over. “I think they went right in.”. This quote shows that Luke, Leia, Han Solo, & Chewbacca finally accomplished their common goal when Luke destroyed the Death Star after being chased by Darth Vader in a Tie-Fighter. …show more content…
For example, many teens came together to protest gun laws recently. The teens coming together and being one as they protest gun laws shows how coming together for a common goal is powerful. My cousin once had to build a house, but he tried doing it by himself, which took too long and the house wasn't as good as it could have been but then he asked people in the community to help him and then he finished the house and it looked beautiful. This shows that working together for a common goal is a powerful tool and that it can be useful when things are too difficult to go through by
to destroy the Death Star is made. Luke is chased by Vader and Solo comes to the
In the beginning of the film, we see Princess Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher), the leader of the Rebel Alliance was captured and taken to the Death Star; a planet destroying mobile space station. Meanwhile, a young farmer named Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) unintentionally buys the two brave and ingenuous droids, who have stolen the architectural plans of the Death Star in the hope of finding its weakness. This leads Luke Skywalker to meet Obi-Wan Kenobi (Alec Guinness), who has lived in seclusion for years on the desert planet of Tatooine. When Luke's home is burned and his aunt and
The common purpose metaphor shows us that by working together and by knowing what both need to do they can accomplish more.
The sheer number of people shows how much the cause means to the people. Nelson Mandela and the Defiance of Unjust Laws Campaign is a fantastic example of this aspect. At one point, Mandela was talking to several hundred volunteers to this campaign who were all dedicated to the cause (Doc 6). This group and the power in numbers they had, caused change before a ballot was cast. In 1960, Martin Luther King Jr. along with two hundred eighty students were arrested at a diner sit in (Doc 2).
Having multiple people come together can truly have an enormous impact. In “I am Malala,” Malala’s valley is under control by the Taliban. Malala and her father would be the brave ones to speak out against them. The Swatis coming together against the Taliban had a much bigger impact than only Malala and her father speaking up against the Taliban. Studies have shown that crime rates decrease when communities come together. People connecting together and voicing opinions is way more powerful than one voice standing alone.
Being an individual and standing up is one thing but a group is another. The antisemitism that happened was so bad during the Holocaust. It was hard to change people's mind and actually change things. A group can make a video, all do or not do something, and even start a protest. The ways groups can help do not have to involve hurting other anymore or arguing. In my opinion a group can sometimes make a bigger change than someone alone. People have more of an influence to an act then you would
This group of “minority” not only can influence people, they also are good at bringing people together. One of the famous historical events “midnight ride” known as Paul Revere’s ride is an example of bringing people together. According to the fact that William Dawes, who was Paul’s friend was also spreading the about the news about British coming to Boston; however, only Paul gathered a group of villagers to fight against the British. This is because Paul Revere was “gregarious and intensely social” (pg.56), and he is also described as a “uncanny genius for being at the center of events” (pg.56). This shows that Paul had power to get people to unite. Similarly, people like Paul who are sociable can easily convince people to agree with them,
One example would be the freedom riders who were a group of people that wanted to desegregate the buses so blacks and whites could sit together. They went from Washington D.C to the deep south. They risk their lives just to get equal rights on buses. One of the bus was taken down and burned with people inside luckily they survived but they got beaten afterwards. But after months the states prohibited segregated busses, this shows that ordinary people like us can make a change and don't have to depend on leaders. But there are times when ordinary people need leaders for help.
Why is working effectively together important? According to the novel, The Chrysalids, by John Wyndham, working together effectively allows a group of individuals to achieve their goals and prevent danger for others. In fact, a group of individuals must be able to understand others who make dangerous decisions, and give others realistic solutions that would control other’s actions and prevent their death. Furthermore, when a group of individuals collaborate with one another, it allows them to defeat and avoid being caught by their enemy. Overall, members of a society must effectively work together in order to avoid chaos.
“This We’ll Defend” (U.S. Army Moto) are the words that encapsulate the ideals of the United States Army. Each word is meaningful. "This" refers to the United States, the U. S. Constitution and liberty. "We 'll" references the army 's collective team efforts, and "defend" refers to the primary function of the army as a defender of the nation, not an aggressor against others. () It was first used by the War Office of the Continental Congress during the American Revolutionary War in 1778, and it has been the Army’s guiding moto for over 200 years.
Star wars is a story of an ordinary boy turned extraordinary what each person in society aspires to be. For example. Luke is a meak and unassuming farmer he harvests water a necessity for his dismal desert environment. Luke has large aspirations to be a pilot for no other than the empire itself. Luke unaware of is ever changing environment will lose everything just to gain it back. The death of his childhood home and his uncle and aunt only pushes him out of his comfort zone to live in a world that he doesn’t know about. Obi won conbi his mentor and guide through life's trials give him hope when he teaches Luke of the faith in the force. Through battle and decisions the choices Luke makes are the same ones that Inspire us today. Luke is no
The original three Star Wars films use the theme of individuality as a means of creating a fun mythical universe, as well as to create a contrast between the good and evil sides of the civil war. The original films celebrate individuality, since the Rebels glorify and utilize their individuality to destroy the Empire, which generally tries to suppress individuality within its army. The final scene of the original Star Wars film displays this perfectly. The members of the Rebel attack team each have titles and nicknames, such as Wedge, Biggs, and even Porkins. Each member is unique in their own way, and their individuality gives them an edge over the highly organized machine of the Empire. Leia runs the Rebel
A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away… there were two exceptional leaders by the name of Darth Vader, and Luke Skywalker. As many know, these two men are the leading antagonist and protagonist of the immensely popular franchise, Star Wars. For those that do not know, Darth Vader is the villain who leads a heinous army known as The Empire. Through methods of fear and intimidation, Vader fabricates a mega-weapon capable of destroying entire planets known as the Death Star. Luke Skywalker defies all odds as he uses the methods of stimulation and team building to try to lead the Rebels in an uprising against the tyrants. Each of these leaders is very successful in their own unique methods.
Teamwork can be achieve when people are willing to open their mindset and be willing to understand the differences of others. Being open allows a person to know and understand a persons for who they are. People that are open minded try not to judge others but try to understand where they’ re coming from. It reminded me of Santara story because has disabilities and yet she is able to attend college and has a great friend that supports her. Her friend is open and excepting of how who Santara is. I loved at the end, how Santara said she was not the wheelchair but the person in the wheelchair. Having an open mind allows people to see people as humans and not of objectives that is
Examples of Teamwork include them both saying that they would hang up the phone, because they both have a common goal, to hang up the phone. It has Challenges when they both don’t want to hang up the phone, they want each other to hang up first. “Are you still there?” “Are you?” “Yeah, why didn’t you?” “Why didn’t you?” (pg #42) This is a Challenge because they are
