The movie is based on the novel written by S. E. Hinton. The Outsiders follows Ponyboy Curtis and the Greasers as they struggle to get by. The Greasers are a bunch of rebel teenagers from the wrong side of town who have had a long-standing rivalry with the Socs; who are the privileged rich kids from the Southside. Ponyboy and the rest of the Greasers lives take a dramatic turn after Johnny stabs and kills Bob (a Soc) when he tried to drown Ponyboy. The Greasers are forced to fight, make sacrifices, call truces, and grow up far too fast in order to survive. The Outsiders was a movie “for teenagers, about teenagers, written by a teenager” but has become a classic, loved by people of every age, every social class, and every walk of life
The Outsiders movie which was released on March 25, 1983, is a American drama film directed by Francis Ford Coppola .It is a crime thriller and is adapted from a novel of the same name by S.E. Hinton .The Film was shot on location in Tulsa, Oklahoma and set in 1965 .The story of this movie revolves around the conflict between the two different social groups ,which is the rich and the poor. It is a class versus class conflict which gives rise to a physical conflict between the Greasers and the Socs .I feel there are physical fights throughout the story between the two groups due to enculturation. The native culture that is transmitted from one generation to another among the Greasers is the reason for their limitations.
The Outsiders, a coming-of-age novel, written by S.E. Hinton who was a teenager at the time of writing is firmly based upon groups of teenagers divided amongst their social classes. The novel takes on the rival battles of the Socials and the Greasers.
On April 24, 1967, S.E. Hinton published the book The Outsiders. Then sixteen years later director Francis Ford Coppola’s movie version of The Outsiders was released on March 23, 1983. The book is about a young boy named Ponyboy who lives with his two older brothers because his parents were killed in a automobile accident. Ponyboy goes through a lot of tough times because he is a part of this group known as the Greasers. The Greasers are a group that are known for being from the poor side of town and the Socs are the rich kids on the other side of town. Throughout the entire book the two groups kept fighting and then something terrible happened that changed Ponyboy’s life forever. The movie and book have many differences
My opinion on the movie I watched, “The Outsiders” is that it was okay. I found some parts boring. There were some parts that was trying to be as emotional as the book and they looked very fake. The director of the movie was Francis Ford Coppola. The author of the book was S.E. Hinton. The Year the movie was made was 1983. The movie was about two gangs. The Socs and the Greasers. Two Greasers (Johnny and Ponyboy). A group of Socs jump them and Johnny is forced to kill one to save his friend from drowning. Johnny and Ponyboy run from the law to a small town named Windrixville. They soon become heros.
The film The Outsiders takes place around 1960s Oklahoma in a small town separated by the Greases and Socs. The Greases gang being lower-class teens that include Ponyboy, Johnny Sodapop, and Dallas. Socs were the rival gang that are in a higher-class teens involve Bob,
The Outsiders, made in 1983, is based on the original book made in 1967, The Outsiders. The movie copied the same plot of the book heavily, as it still portrays the same main character, Ponyboy Curtis (played by Thomas C. Howell), a fourteen year old boy living with his two brothers. This one and a half hour film shows Ponyboy’s life as a greaser, as he experiences the positive and negative sides of his family life style, and questions the benefits of the greaser’s biggest enemy; the Socials.
Have you ever read a very hard hitting and the phenomenal story about rival gangs and the effect it has on the lives of the people and the society. In The Outsiders, is a story of 14-year-old Ponyboy Curtis and his two older brothers, Soda and Darry. The boys are orphans and struggle to stick together in their lower-class neighborhood, known as the East Side. They and their friends are part of a gang of tough street boys called the Greasers. Even though other people might think you're unimportant and below them. You will always have your friends and family. In The Outsiders, we see the idea of the difference in the society based on the economic level of the characters, honor among the lawless and violence among the youth.
The “OUTSIDERS”, a book and movie, portrays a small gang going through hard times. The Book and Movie may have the same plot but have small yet noticeable differences. Both stories take place around Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1965. These should be compared to show why sometimes movies get things wrong and why the book tends to be better, in this case they both stick to the plot with only a few missing or added details, such as the book is slower paced but has more detail, the movie misses or adds small details, and the movie destroys your thought of what characters look like.
The Outsiders is a movie and a book written by S.E. Hinton. It takes place around the 1960’s with it’s main character named Ponyboy Curtis and his adventure with Johnny when he kills Bob. The two then go out of the city when they realized the police will be after them and hid in a church at the top of a hill in the country. Johnny decides later on to come back home, but a fire happens in the church with children inside. Both Johnny and Ponyboy go inside to save them, but Johnny is hurt badly while Ponyboy gets knocked out by Dally because of a fire that was on him. They were both taken to the hospital, but Johnny was the one who actually stayed. Later on, Johnny dies with Dally and Ponyboy with him. Dally goes crazy and soon kills himself by a cop and Ponyboy then writes a story of what happen which apparently is the book/movie. Though the book and the movie come from the same idea, they are both still very different.
Ever read a novel then watch the movie about the novel? Were the two made exactly the same or were some events or people different? It is alway interesting to compare the writers work to the director's work. The novel The Outsiders was written by S.E. Hinton and was published in 1967. The movie was made about 15 years later. The novel takes place in Oklahoma in the 1960’s in a town that is socially divided into gangs determined by their economic classes. One gang is made up of group of teenage guys known as “Greasers” who wear leather jackets, get into trouble, and are “tuff.” “Tuff” means you are cool or sharp looking. The other gang is called “Socs”and is short for socials. A group of teenage guys who wear preppy clothes and drive expensive cars, and are always drinking. These two gangs are constantly fighting each other. The main character is Ponyboy Curtis, a fourteen year old, living with his two older brothers, Darry and Sodapop after their parents were killed in a car accident the past year. The brothers are always hanging around their gang of friends; Steve, Two - Bit, Johnny, and Dally, who all grew up together and are like family. They all face many hardships of their own struggles between right and wrong in a society in which they believe they are Outsiders. There are many similarities and differences between the novel and the movie.
The Outsiders is a novel written by Susan Eloise Hinton, also known as S.E Hinton. The setting of the story takes place in the 1960s. The Outsiders is written in first person view, by Ponyboy Curtis. The story revolves around the greasers and Socs. The Socs are the west side rich kids, they wrecked houses and “threw beer blasts for kicks”. While the Greasers were the east side kids, they “drove old souped-up cars, held up gas stations and had gang fights once in a while.” One of the conflicts the characters face is man vs man, which is because the greasers and Socs don’t get along, this is because they feel superior to each other. They both had different ways of lives, they did different things for fun, and they did not understand each other. This conflict was later resolved towards the end of the story when Ponyboy speaks to Randy about no longer fighting after Bob’s death.
The movie The Outsiders is very similar to the book but of course there are also many differences. The main characters in both the movie and the book are Ponyboy Curtis, Darry Curtis, Sodapop Curtis, Two-Bit Mathews, Steve Randle, Dally Winston, and Johnny Cade. The Outsiders is about a teen gang in rural Oklahoma. The Greasers are perpetually at odds with the Socials, a rival group. When Greasers, Ponyboy Curtis and Johnny Cade get into a brawl that ends in the death of a Social member, the two greasers are forced to go into hiding. Soon Ponyboy and Johnny, along with the intense Dallas Winston and their other Greaser buddies, must contend with the consequences of their violent lives. While some Greasers try to achieve redemption, others meet tragic ends. The book is written in first-person narration style and the narrator for both the movie and the book is PonyBoy Curtis.
I liked The Outsiders book/movie because it’s about a group of greasers that are more like family. They have a lot of struggles but get through them together. They compete with a rival gang called the Socs and it gets very intense. Personally I can’t chose which if the book or the movie is better because they both contribute different parts. This paper is about the differences from the book and movie with the characters, relations, and scenes.
Fracis Ford Coppola’s “The Outsiders” (1983) is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by E.Hinton published in 1967. There are many theories that can be found throughout the movie, victim precipitation theory, differential association theory, strain theory and labeling theory are the most prevalent. The story takes place in Tulsa, Oklahoma and revolves around the story of a 14 year old Greaser named Ponyboy Curtis. The town is split into two conflicting adolescent groups, the Greasers and the Socs. The Greasers are of lower class standings with harsh upbringings, poor kids from the wrong side of town (north) and are considered delinquents. The Socs, are privileged kids living on the south side who have an easy life where everything
Have you ever wondered how you might think it the Greasers fault but it is not and that it is the Socs fault because all the problems that have happened have been due to the actions of the Socs. The Outsiders is about two groups of teenagers, the Greasers and the Socs and how they hate each other. It involves challenges that the two groups face as well as life and death situations between the two groups. The novel is told from the perspective of Ponyboy who is a part of the Greasers gang. In the novel, The Outsiders, much of the turmoil and conflict in the community is caused by the Socials.
