YES NO IT’S ALL ABOUT ME, MYSELF AND I In the novel, The Outsiders, Ponyboy expresses his feelings in a very poetic way. In “The Outsiders”, the speaker of the novel is a fourteen year-old fellow named Ponyboy who is the narrator and the youngest member of the greasers. S.E. The novel was intended to relate to young teens and adults who have experienced the troubles and unfortunate situations in the story. The author is referring to the poor and their daily struggles. The author explains the harshness of the greaser’s life and shows empathy for them. The author tells the truth as it is and doesn’t blur the reality. The author wants the audience to understand the predicaments and relate to it. “The Outsiders” by S.E. Hinton is a fiction novel that represents social
The Outsiders movie which was released on March 25, 1983, is a American drama film directed by Francis Ford Coppola .It is a crime thriller and is adapted from a novel of the same name by S.E. Hinton .The Film was shot on location in Tulsa, Oklahoma and set in 1965 .The story of this movie revolves around the conflict between the two different social groups ,which is the rich and the poor. It is a class versus class conflict which gives rise to a physical conflict between the Greasers and the Socs .I feel there are physical fights throughout the story between the two groups due to enculturation. The native culture that is transmitted from one generation to another among the Greasers is the reason for their limitations.
In the book the outsiders Ponyboy is the main character. He is mainly distinctive from the rest of the characters by his physical traits and by his actions. Ponyboy was harassed several times by the Socs just because he was a greaser. Overall Ponyboy didn't use his head before he his actions. It caused him to get into many accidents such as when he was jumped in the beginning of the story because he walking home from the movie theaters by himself. Not only did Ponyboy not use his head he also was altruistic. An example of this is when he ran into the burning church to save kids even though it could have killed him.
Ponyboy is the main character in The Outsiders. Hinton uses Ponyboy to prove her point that people can be different from the other people in their so-called group. For example Ponyboy’s category is greaser. They are the people who are poor, hard, cold, mean, hoods, have long greasy hair, and like fights. Even though Ponyboy is poor and has long greasy hair, he is actually also loyal, compassionate, and heroic. For instance in the story there is a
The biggest influence in shaping ponyboy’s identity was his quest to find where he belonged, because throughout the book readers learn ,along with him, how he is different than the other greasers and how he doesn’t act or think like they do. The first example of this is in the first chapter when the readers meet Ponyboy and he tells them about the gang and his friends and family and then he says, “For a while there, I thought I was the only person in the world that did,” after explaining how he has different interests than the people around him (Hinton 2). This leads him to feel like an outsider and makes him feel like he doesn’t belong and that he is different from the socs and the greasers. In chapter 5, Johnny tells ponyboy how he couldn’t talk about things like sunsets around the rest of the gang, and he also tells Johnny, “You ain’t like any of the gang (78).” This shows how Ponyboy is not alone in feeling like an
In the story “The Outsiders”, there is a huge feud going on with the Socs and the Greasers. The Socs are known as the wealthy and snobby people of their town. The Greasers on the other hand, are the poor people of where they live. Because of the Soc and Greasers differences, they don’t get along so well. The relationship of the Greasers and Socs changes quite a bit throughout the story. At the beginning, it’s a harsh fighting relationship and towards the end of the books, it changes to a laid back relationship where they would still fight but not a lot.
In the Outsiders, written by S.E Hinton one of the main characters is Ponyboy. He is stereotyped as a greaser (a poor boy from the east side of town). Ponyboy accepts being a greaser and it affects him positively. Some people might stereotype Ponyboy as a hero and not a greaser.
Have you ever noticed anyone in your life who is so special that they sparkle. Well, Ponyboy is that kind of person. Ponyboy is not only just tough and broad person, but he is also a very caring and sensitive person. Ponyboy is the definition of kind-hearted. I know this because for one, Ponyboy and Johnny saved all of the children in the burning church. Johnny and Pony also stuck up for Cherry when Dally was being disrespectful. Ponyboy stuck up for the Greasers when the SOC’s came by. The Outsiders is a novel placed in the 1960s created by S.E Hinton. This book is about the Greasers, a low-income teenage gang, fighting against the SOC’s, an upper class gang, both physically and mentally. During this book, multiple people die, including Ponyboy’s close friends, Johnny and Dally. Here are a few reasons why I believe Ponyboy is a caring person.
The Outsiders by S.E Hinton follows the lives of two groups of young adult’s set in 1950’s America. The groups are the “Greasers” and the “Socs”. Greasers is a term used to class all the boys living on the East side, which was the poor side of the town they were mainly known for their long and greased hair. The rival gang, the Socs short for Socials, are "the jet set, the West-side rich kids," who are from upper-middle-class families. Ponyboy explains that the gangs are "just small bunches of friends who stick together, and the warfare is between the social classes" (pg 10). Ponyboy is a Greaser, a 14-year-old boy whose world has been turned upside down. His parents were killed in an automobile accident just eight months before The Outsiders story takes place. He lives with his oldest brother, Darry, who is 20 years old and has legal custody of him and his other brother, Sodapop. Society views greasers as dull but views soc's more hardworking as they get better grades. They are more favoured as they are better looking and are rich. Greasers aren’t respected by society, many of them have heroic qualities. This novel The Outsiders shows that all people have heroic qualities all it takes is a dramatic event. A hero is someone who helps those in need and does not expect people to applaud or reward them for it. Dally, Ponyboy Curtis and Johnny Cade are the three main Greasers and three unlikely heroes in the novel. They achieved this state by saving people's lives, help those in need, showing care and standing up for each other. These three greasers put their lives in front of others to save people.
In the novel the outsiders by S.E. Hinton the identity of ponyboy is he is a greaser and doesn’t do everything they do the only things he does that they do is smoke and go to the rumbles and fight as a group ponyboy is a scared kid but at times can be tough and stands up for the right things and doesn’t go and beat up people that don’t have any reason for doing it. Ponyboy is a hero due to jumping into the church when it was on fire and saved so many kids as well as johnny. Ponyboy was a straight A student that got good grades almost all the time. Being a greaser to there town was not always a good thing the reason for this is
In The Outsiders, Ponyboy is stereotyped as a violent, stupid greaser. Greasers are stereotyped as delinquents, getting their name from the amount of hair oil in their hair. You're automatically a thug if you wear leather jackets, are rather greasy, and live in a poor neighborhood, according to his society. Greasers are teased and looked down upon by the socs, who are rich spoiled kids. When somebody sees a greaser, they run the other way. But Pony is so much more than all of that. He is a poetic, thoughtful boy. He doesn’t let anything get him down. He is trying his best to get good grades and be able to go to college, which is something most
He is, in fact, using himself as a symbol of ‘Greaser’ in order to establish a connection and convey a sense of humanity that is portrayed in his memoirs. Ponyboy expresses himself through writing about lays himself bare

So i think that she saw herself as an outsider and she wrote Ponyboy into the outsiders and an outsider because he was different than the rest of the greasers he liked to read and watch sunsets and couldn’t do anything the greaser said without feeling guilty. So maybe she felt like she didn’t belong anywhere so she wrote Ponyboy to life so she could relate to someone. So she is Ponyboy and he is just a representation of her and he has the same personality as
