Over the past few years, daily/weekly online fantasy sports played for cash prizes has become a multi-billion dollar industry almost overnight. Most of the revenues are being generated in America where fantasy sports sites are loosely regulated. Due to an "insider trading" scandal that just erupted, things are about to change.

The news came out from two of the industry's largest fantasy sports providers, DraftKings and FanDuel. As reported first by DraftKings, one of its content managers had accidentally released statistical data related to the percentage of managers who were selecting certain players for NFL contests. That same week, that very same manager won approximately $350,000 playing fantasy sports on the the rival FanDuel site. By taking this action, Nevada joined Arizona, Arkansas, Louisiana, Iowa, and Tennessee as the only states where playing fantasy sports online is illegal. It should also be noted that the Department of Justice is looking into the allegations of "insider trading" while many of the fantasy sports sites have issued directives to employees that they are no longer permitted to play fantasy sports online until further notice.
