The Pros And Cons Of The Salem Witch Trials

In 1962 a massive phenomenon hit the colonial settlements in Massachusetts. A now worldwide period referred to as the Salem Witch Trials took over the colon. While people focus on the lives lost during this time it is often forgotten that this was not the first instance that “witches” were claimed to be walking among people. Before America was even discovered acclamations of Witches arose in Europe between the 15th century and the 18th century. People are often shocked by the stories of the Salem Witch Trials, but how shocked would they be if they know about the similar occurrences in Europe. How different were the Salem Witch Trials in comparison? It leads to speculation weather the witch hunts were real or a cover so there was a place to put blame for error in everyday life. For many of these instance a difference in religious belief could be the start of all the chaos.

Witchcraft in itself is simplistic and historical. It is the action of the word that came to be feared and unacceptable. In the early European world, it was not an uncommon thing to believe in something that today is seen as a more super natural force. Many people of the time would pray and worship multiple different God’s and Goddesses. Each of whom were rulers over specific aspects of life. Their religion of the time was so powerful over the people that their beliefs fully surrounded them. Decedents of present day Germany and Denmark known as Anglo-Saxon’s made their way to Europe
