With the topic of gun control comes a widely split crowd. There are those that believe that gun control is necessary for decreasing crime and making a nation a safer place to live. And on the other end of the spectrum, they are those that speak of how anti-gun control is what would make our nation a safer place to live. After all, ?Would a person be as likely to break into another family's home knowing that the family has means of personal protection?? (Warren 308). ?Most everyone will agree that felons, addicts, morons, juveniles, alcoholics, the mentally incompetent, and others in whose hands even an ice pick or a baseball bat becomes a deadly weapon, should be denied a gun.? I have had guns in my life since I was young. I served eight years in the military, and have shot in competitions for many years. I also love the outdoors, and enjoy the ability to put food on the table that is natural. I think the reasons for keeping the right to bear arms are so important that if the American people lost that right; it would mean life changes that many would be unwilling to make.

There are and always will be people disagreeing over the controversial Second Amendment, the right to bear arms, however there are several reasons why the Second Amendment is beneficial to the community. The Second Amendment to certain people in the United States is seen as an amendment that represents their freedom. Some of the key reasons that the right to bear arms is beneficial to the community is that it allows for citizens to hunt and provide for their families, it allows for people to protect themselves and others, and can keep it so that the government doesn’t have uncontrollable power. The amendment also allows for the people to be able to go and buys guns and ammo. The amount of benefits to the community that the second amendment gives off is under estimated by many, due to the news and publicity always being very negative towards guns and their uses. If the news was to ever show guns in a good light making the public more knowledgeable about the controversial Amendment the opinions of the people might shift gears a little into becoming more supporting of the Second Amendment and the benefits that come with it.

Gun control is a vital necessity to the welfare of our nation. Many people out there are supporting the “anti- gun control cause” with the excuse of “self-defense”. I believe that not everyone will handle a gun for self-defense. The possession of a gun is a sign of power. One of the bigger ambitions that one has is to have power and the easier it is to obtain a gun; the faster a criminal will gain power over an innocent person. When one is in possession of a gun, that person has complete control of their actions and may act upon the weapon however the person may please even if they know that their action will cause harm to defense-less people.      Gun control is a very controversial issue among society at present. Many feel guns are the cause of a great amount of crime. This has been an especially popular topic recently in lieu of the shooting at Columbine and other high schools across the country. Are these crimes reason to take away our freedom to bear arms? I do not believe so. The average person uses guns mainly as a means of protection. If limitations are placed on guns, they will only stop the average American from obtaining a gun. The real criminals out there will still be able to obtain guns through the black market. Every American should have the right to protect them self.

Criminals are provoked by self-protection and guns can thus be a disincentive. A majority of convicted American criminals have reported that they fear from attacking the victims who are armed. Their fear of encountering armed victims surpasses their fear of being caught by police (Lott, pp.05). Robbers do not attempt to break into houses after midnight because of the probability of being shot. Thus, society should be against gun control because crimes will decrease.

It is learned in schools across the nation, although the importance of the words depends on the teacher, school, and region of the country. During the revolutionary period, King George learned this same concept the hard way, “…an armed populace is a populace that will not be pushed around.”

Gun laws have been debated for years now in America, and they have been debtated for various reasons. Recently, the idea of conceal and carry has been brought over to college campuses and schools around our nation. There are two main sides to this controversial topic, people who are for conceal and carry and people who are against it. There have been multiple bills proposed in florida to allow everyday people carry guns on campus. This topic has been a hot debate after incidents like the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting and even more recently the Ohio State shooting. Recently; however, people have been misusing those firearms and have been harming others with them. Some of the arguments being made by the politicians is simply if the government has the right to be able to control, and if it does, the effectiveness of the public policy to regulate guns.

The second Amendment has given the right to have guns in the houses of people across America. People have taken this right and made it so it looked like guns were just to kill people but it all turns out it’s people that kill people. In all reality guns in the home are a safety precaution they make people feel safe in their homes today. Trying to take away the right to have guns in your home is like taking away the second amendment. People have their own opinions but in my opinion taking away the right to have a gun would be the wrong way to handle gun violence.

The second amendment of the United States Constitution states that “A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." Unfortunately there are many armed citizens who fail to abide by the law. Gun ownership should be limited for several reasons. Further background checks both physical and mental should be taken, along with limitations to the amount of weapons each house hold or person can possess, laws on weapons crossing state lines and a limit on how many bullets any one person can buy at any given time. Gun control is the best solution for a safer United States of America.
