The Rise And Fall Of The Han Dynasty Of China

The Han Dynasty of China from 206 B.C.E. to 220 C.E. and the Imperial Roman Empire from 21 B.C.E. to 476 C.E. were large empires that dominated during their time periods.

Since the start of the 20th century, with the fall of the Qing dynasty, when China was in shambles with no industry, a corrupt government and no international presence, all the way up until today, where China has evolved into one of the strongest internationally recognized countries with a highly globalized market, the relationship between the Chinese people and its government has been debated on whether or not Chinese society is one ruled and dominated by a central government or a society where social change occurred because of bottom-up forces leading to a government for the people. China, since 1949, has been a country, which has been run by a single party state, known as the CCP (Chinese Communist Party). The CCP is organized under the basis of a central, unchallenged party governing the people by the means of communism. Throughout the past century, the CCP has dictated and maintained a rule over the livelihood of its people by monopolizing Chinese politics and penalizing those who opposed it, through central command planning and on the other spectrum, radical economic reforms at the end of the 20th century in the interest of keeping the CCP in power.

The Qin Dynasty ended with the death of Shihuangdi and was followed by the Han Dynasty after Lui Bang’s army conquered the Qin Dynasty.. The Han Dynasty is known as one of the greatest eras recognized in China. Lui Bang founded the Han dynasty in 206 BCE; it was the second dynasty of China. He started a bureaucracy founded on intellect (Gill). Confucianism was the main philosophy at this time, “confucianism deals primarily with moral conduct and ethical living and is often categorized as an ethical system. It emphasizes the earthly, not the heavenly” (What). Once paper was invented literature became very popular. This prompted Sima Olan to write the Book of History. This book contains the first record of Chinese history. Porcelain was also new at this time and became a very popular (Western).

The Han Dynasty and the Roman Empire were two grand empires that rose out of preexisting territories and provided relative peace over wide areas. The collapse of the Qin Dynasty (221-206 BCE), which was the first great land-based empire in East Asia, came after a period of war, confusion, and tyrannical rule. Due to the political disorder that stemmed from the early dynastic activity, the emergence of the Han Dynasty (206 BCE- 228 CE) sprung to focus on restoring order. The Roman Empire and the Han Dynasty were both some of the greatest empires in their time. The fall of the Roman Empire was followed by the fall of the Han Dynasty. Three major things that contributed to these empires falling were the economic troubles these empires were going through at the time, taxation was a huge trouble for some of these empires, trade was also a big contribution, and being economically weak had an impact as well. Political reasons were a major of why these empires fell, both these empires had problems when it came down to their rulers, both these empires also split into two at a point, as well as the gap between the rich and the poor.

Throughout history, there were various empires which developed into great, powerful forces. These empires expanded their lands to new places but, these empires ultimately came to an end. Amongst these great empires, were the Han and the Roman empire. Both were great in power but, due to political, social, and economic causes, they came to an end. Although they do partake in the equal shares of corruption and problems with the military, they also had fair shares of differences, regarding their declines. For example, the Han empire had decentralization and rebellion while Rome had shifted in interests and developed war issues. Intro: In our version of the Han Dynasty, we maintained original ideals regarding, politics, social statuses, philosophy, and governmental aspects. We changed and tweaked certain specific aspects of these themes, such as the height of the Great Wall of China, and the purpose behind folklore. Government and political aspects we decided to keep were the Great Wall of China, but in the form of a full wall around the entirety of the Han Dynasty, as well as making it taller, for better fortifications.
