It was one dark and stormy night on the North Atlantic Sea. Guns blazing, gun powder everywhere, so thick you can barely see ten feet in front of you, the sound of swords clashing together, and the smell of dozens of bodies rotting away in puddles of blood, the smell so thick that you can almost taste it. It was a battle between two groups of pirates, The Scavengers and The Buccaneers, fighting for the map to treasure. They have been fighting for years in search of this treasure. It all started when two brothers, who were once very close, built a hatred for each other when their father had to decide who was next in line to take his place as captain. Bucky, captain of the Buccaneers, was the strong one, more athletic than any other pirate. …show more content…
He was the smart one, and unlike his brother, Lex wasn’t as muscular. Bucky used to bully him but Lex always found away to get back at him. People thought of him as the “brains of the operation”. He didn’t speak much, because he would always be planning his next move. By rule, Bucky should be next in line to take their father’s position as head captain, but he chose Lex. He gave Lex the map to the treasure, in hope that with his intellectual abilities, he would find the treasure. Bucky was furious at his decision. With frustration and anger, he killed his father so he would have to become the next captain, but Lex already had possession of the map. Buckey decided to start his own crew and go after what is rightfully his, the map to the treasure. They haven’t had many encounters because Lex is too smart to leave any trace of his crew or where they have been. The only times they did encounter each other was because Bucky would send out small squadrons , but even that failed because there was so few of them. Buckey then thought of ways to catch up with him without losing any crew members, and it was at that moment he knew, he may have a
The story “The Most Dangerous Game” begins by introducing two characters; Whitney and Rainsford. We automatically find out that they are on a yacht talking of an island named “Ship-Trap Island”, a place that sailors dread and avoid. The two men, Whitney and Rainsford falls off the yacht after the sound of gun shots steal his attention. Rainsford swims toward the gunshots then hears the screeching sound of an animal. Finally, Rainsford reaches the rocky shore and falls asleep. When Rainsford awakens he sets out to find food but ends up finding an empty rifle cartridge and human footprints. Rainsford follows the footprints and runs into hunters Ivan and General Zaroff.
Under The Black Flag , a book written by David Cordingly expressed the reality and myths behind piracy. He clearly states in the introduction of the book that his aim “is to examine the popular image of pirates today, to find out where this image came from, and to compare it with the real world of the pirates” (Cordingly xiv). Along with his aim his thesis is also stated in the introduction of his book, which essentially states that the views by everyday people of pirates consists of a mixture of facts, and many other things such as romantic novels and films. He successfully informs readers of the history behind many important misconceptions of common beliefs. Although some of the things every person has learned about a pirate growing up may
Bright sunshine lighting the rich features of the beautiful blue Caribbean sea, the water hitting against the morro of Santiago de Cuba giving Cubans a sense of protection by its multi-level stone fortress guarding the entrance to Santiago de Cuba bay. Cubans peacefully and clueless carry with their daily routine to the end of the night. Swooosh! Bam! Bam! Twelve ships with 1,300 pirates arrive at Santiago de Cuba’s bay making sure they announce themselves by firing their firearms immediately trespassing the morro showing that nothing can hold them back, little did the Cuban’s know that it was the English fleet governed by Lord Windsor and captained by Christopher Myngs.
The Atlantic pirates were after gold or booty as Disney producers portray it to be, but this wasn’t there main goal, instead the Atlantic pirate’s main goal was revenge. After several centuries of poverty and being in the bottom social rank people took to themselves to solve their economic problems by going against king and machinists. Many of these pirates either had worked for this mechanist or for the kingdom’s fleet. As stated by Dr. Marcus Rediker “Merchant seamen got a hard, close look at death: disease and accidents were commonplace in their occupation, rations were often meager and discipline was brutal… Some pirates had served in the navy where conditions aboard ship were no less harsh” (Rediker 206-207). These severe conditions were the driving force for revenge at whatever the cost maybe. The previous experience of being at sea made these pirates very knowledgeable because they also knew that the American colonies were doing their own thing. Even though they were
The point of this book was to put aside the myths about pirates and replace them with facts. There are many fictional myths about pirates and their lives on the sea. Many books and movies have built pirates up to be romantical heroes instead of the ruthless savages they were, so this book focuses on separating fact from fiction about life as a pirate.
Oh how he missed Eden . Yet before the his eyes could feast on the girl he so missed, Westley noticed something inconceivable. A barrage of pirate vessels in the distance. Skull and crossbones flown on each ship, shrouding the sea in a deep black shadow. Suddenly, the pirate general emerged, as if this one ship pillaged time itself. “King Black Beard” It seemed his name slid off every man's tongue on Wesley's ship, as if the words were heavy ash, leaving a swell of smoke in one's mouth. Battle alarms silenced the brave soldiers, yet they were one ship vs many. Defeat was inevitable. Nothing could stop the band of marauders from destroying the ship. It seemed no one would survive. For each soldier had heard the pirates policy, NO PRISONERS. A single shot was fired, and then suddenly a clash of bullets followed. The Unsinkable was lost to the great blue
The pirate was not only confrontational but fearless, a trait I wanted better acquaintance with. Of anyone in our class, this guy had the least cause to be so outspoken, so confident, yet he was. I was intrigued” (42).
2 Hours Later. Finally i'm here let's see what happens. Captain Jack busts thru the door. “Hey crew I am your new Captain!” Jack says. “We didn't want a new Captain we want Blackbeard.” Mark the Lookout says. Mark would be the one on top of ship spying on other ships to see if there was any other pirates trying to get to the treasure before they do. “Well you guys might have not heard Captain Blackbeard has passed away on his way to U.S.A.” Jack says. “So why couldn’t I have been the new Captain i’ve been on this ship for more than 15 years.” Mark says. “OK, and i’ve been on this ship since I was 5. Now before and argument starts let's get on the ship and head to Mexico.”
With canons blaring in the distance, Captain Edward Teach sits in his quarters, preparing for battle. To his belt, Teach straps pistols, daggers, and his cutlass. Across his chest, a sling with six pistols all loaded. Then, slowly, Teach braids his bushy, pitch-black beard that would come to give him his name. Finally, Teach places several slow burning fuses under his hat, lighting each one by one[i]. With wisps of smoke billowing around his face, Blackbeard, the most treacherous pirate in history, emerges from his cabin to join the fight. In the golden age of piracy, Captain Edward Teach, more commonly known as Blackbeard, stands out as the fiercest and most important figure. Blackbeard and his crew successfully controlled commerce along
The pirates are Somalians who are raiding ships that come nearby Somalia. They carefully select a ship to raid. They will want to raid cargo ships. In the movie, Captain Phillips, the pirates that are in the movie are Somalians pirates (Telegraph 1).

During this time frame, pirates were among the most feared and powerful criminals in the world, lurking through the tropical waters of the Caribbean Sea looking for merchant ships to plunder and destroy. Infamous pirates such as Blackbeard, Captain Kidd, and various others rose out of this time period as some of the most dangerous men and women the world has ever seen. Compared to today’s modern Somali pirates, the pirates of the Golden Age were able to create a large “pirate haven”, quickly attack and disappear, take what they wanted with little resistance and establish a strong name for themselves, their crews, and their ships, all while being feared across the
Hollywood portrays pirates as swashbuckling outlaws with their own set of rules and loose morals, nefarious hideouts, and adventure at every turn of their lives; but that’s Hollywood. During the Golden Age of Piracy, about 1550 to 1730, pirates did traverse the Atlantic almost completely unchallenged; producing some of the most notorious pirates and privateers the world had ever seen. But not all of these pirates were outlaws, most were actually legal. And their hideouts weren’t really hideouts at all; just cities that were afraid of the Spanish and thought the pirates could protect them. And adventure? Well, some of the best and most infamous pirates didn’t want the epic battles that are pictured in many of today’s films. Something else
Everything was very loud, people talking in Somalia my eyes open and there is a gun barrel in between my eyes. when I opened my eyes ,everything was blurry because I was hit in the head so hard, but right as I woke up ,he first thing I thought of is my wife and kids back in my home town Vermont. I remember seeing bright lights shining through the little circular hole of the lifeboat and the pirates, start freaking out, then all of a sudden blood went everywhere and the pirates all fell to the ground with bullet holes in them. In the book, A Captain’s Duty, by Richard Phillips, the captain tells about an incident in which the freighter he captained was overtaken by Somali pirates. The leader of the pirates is Muse. While both captains have
This skipper resembled a pirate, as he would steal from the traders, had a weak conscience, and made those he bested in battle walk the plank. He was browned from his time spent in the sun, and he wore boots, pants, and a wool gown that went down to his knees. He carried a dagger with him for protection. Since the skipper
