This discussion is about the similarities and differences between external and internal beauty. For intent purposes, it would be easiest to argue this subject using the physical human senses and cognitive learning. External beauty is a visual perception while internal beauty is concept of a person’s character even though both are learned from the physical senses and cognitive learning. It is very, very rare that we have both external and internal beauty in the same body because the body is imperfect.
External beauty is strictly perception through the eyes, visual perception. This is one of the many senses that exist like sight, hearing, taste, smell, touch, and sensory perception. Most men and women find the men’s body pleasing to the sight if there is the presence of tone muscle fiber, symmetrical chiseled and sculpted view. Both men and women assume a woman’s body is beautiful because it is sexually appealing. Would it be true in stating that a physical body can be altered to make it look more beautiful in sight? Yes, it can be altered by many different ways. Breast implants, penis implants, lipid suction, buttocks implants, diet, extensive exercise, and or hair coloring are many examples in which the human body can be made externally beautiful to sight.
One thing that we learn through our senses that help us formulate our cognitive abilities is through “fairy tales.” The prince and the princess ideas which slip into the subconscious as the human mind advances in age.
Fairytales and fantasies have existed to tell children’s stories because of their ability to bring a child
Maria Tatar’s “An Introduction to Fairy Tales” discusses the impact on how the stories help guide the children from their younger age. The first five paragraphs of the article mentioned about how the children can overflow with imagination, and can vividly see their reality of desire and also, fear. The fairytales can also corrupt the naïve minds of the child in a way of making them realize the reality of the world is unjustified, and people can be harsh. Moreover, Tatar gives an explanation on how people grow up with the same fairy tales with different versions; which gives an entirely different personal idea. Fairy tales also develop the child’s intellectual mind by reading various kinds of genre.
Maria Tatar points out how these stories help shape individuals at a young age. She explores how children reading these stories and using imagination can uncover fears and desires they have. But these fairy tales do not only have a good influence on children, but also
"Beauty isn't about having a pretty face. It is about having a pretty mind, a pretty heart, and most importantly, a beautiful soul." (Unknown) Beauty is not just about being beautiful on the outside it is also on the inside. I feel that people have to be beautiful both on the inside and outside. Beauty is mostly on the inside because they are the people who are nicer and kinder. A person personality can make the person more beautiful because it is the way people act and talk. People are more beautiful on the inside because it is the way people talk and act.
Some say that beauty is only skin deep and believe that "inner beauty," is a whole lot more important. They are a small minority. Most of us strive for perfection in appearances--it may be our own personal appearance defined by the perfect clothes and the perfect look, the perfect home we live in, or the perfect car we absolutely must have. People today are no different today than they were in the 19th century, and we get an in depth understanding of the obsession with "being perfect" in Nathaniel Hawthorne's "The Birthmark." This short story is about a devoted scientist who marries a beautiful woman with a single physical flaw; a birthmark on her face. Aylmer becomes obsessed with the imperfection and needs to remove it, to be
Beauty is not always physical because a woman can be beautiful by intelligence, her morals, or her compassion towards
For centuries mankind has unsuccessfully attempted to define beauty. Greek philosophers, including Plato, tried to define beauty as if it were as simple as any other law in nature. However this cannot be so because the idea of what is beautiful has varied throughout cultures and the ages. In the 1800s women who were pale and rather plump were considered objects of desire; but in today’s society, desirable women are slender and tan, among other things. The fact is that today, beauty is as unobtainable as it is indefinable. All of today’s supermodels, as seen in millions of advertisements, have been modified, airbrushed, and photoshopped. Women desiring this beauty have turned to various
Many people begin to spend money on many products to enhance themselves to feel more beautiful. We tend to try to hide the imperfections on our body to conform to society’s rules on what makes someone more beautiful than one another. These things include covering up skin with make up to hide the pimples and wearing clothing that cover up parts of the skin that we may not want other people to view. Also straightening the hair and painting our nails to cover the imperfections that society tends to puts on us. This cause us to start changing into someone to please how the society views us as a whole. However as we continue to develop as individuals we tend to say that beauty is only skin deep. The truth is that everyone is different or unique in their own way and if you can overlook a person physical appearance and look deep down into recognizing a person inner qualities you will find that beauty is more than what meets the eye. Beauty will always be in the eye of the beholder because everyone sees something beautiful in every individual. True beauty comes from within and you should not judge a book by its cover because that book may be the beautiful inside. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and it is very important to
The main reason the word beauty has been used to describe external features rather than internal ones, so much more in the recent years, is the media. The media has evolved into something extremely influential, and the most clear message people recive from this, is what they are supposed to look like. For instance, magazines often create young girls who believe that thin as paper models seen in any magazine are what they are supposed to look like. Also, another component adding to the superficial terms people have are the celebrities that we idolize who are coached to not have even one single hair out of place; all those celebrity’s with perfect skin, hair, and body have been accomplices in the media’s outrageous spread shallow opinions. The outcome of the media’s bar being set so high is people all around doing whatever necessary to preserve their physical appearance regardless of the effect it has on their health or bank accounts.
The definition of beauty is a characteristic of a person, animal, place, object, or idea that provides a perceptual experience of pleasure, meaning, or satisfaction. Beauty has negative and positive influences on mostly people. Beauty is described by the inside and outside of us. Due to beauty, our self-esteem has been hurt dramatically, especially towards girls. Beauty is not always about our outside looks but it’s about our inside personality also.
Fairytales are classic tales known throughout many generations and cultures. Dating back to the 1600’s fairytales were told and are still be adapted today. While fairytales are simplified for children to grasp, their underlying body is complex. With subtly changes to help fit more accurately in certain time periods and with the cultural relativism, whether good or bad, fairytales are a never dying being.
There are a large group of individuals who believe that outer beauty is temporary while inner beauty is untouchable and ever lasting, and that is what makes someone truly beautiful. Even photographers that photograph beautiful models say that they look for girls that portray a beautiful soul behind the face or a feeling of kindness that shows through. It is amazing how inner beauty can make an average looking person light up a room with there heart-stopping presence. It is a permanent quality which makes an individual interesting, reachable, and trustworthy. If you feel beautiful, your own confidence and self-worth brings out a glow of beauty that no outer beauty can compete with. If inner beauty is the genuine
When I think on outward appearances and the time and in some cases incredible effort to “look beautiful it oftentimes makes me wonder about the reason for all the fuss. Yes, it is important to take care of one’s exterior for as the popular saying goes “When you look good, you feel good”. Millions of dollars are spent annually by the cosmetic industry to enhance, to ensure, and to encapsulate our beauty. There are every kind of product to hide the lines, reduce the lines, eliminate the lines, lift the lines and some products are for “imaginary lines” that we really did not see until the sales clerk told us they were there. Trying to look our best is in and of itself is a wonderful premise however the question for this hour now becomes does our outside match our inside? Are we putting in the same amount of effort to ensure that our inner man is as healthy, whole and well as our outer man?
When asked to describe beauty, one’s initial response is to comment on physical attributes such as hair, eyes, and facial structure. Rarely will the answer entail traits such as selflessness and intelligence. Merriam Webster defines beauty as “the quality or aggregate of qualities in a person or thing that gives pleasure to the senses or pleasurably exalts the mind or spirit.” Inner and outer beauty stimulates the mind in some way. Many believe physical attributes define beauty, yet one cannot exemplify true beauty without the harmony of personality, interaction, and physical attributes.
Fairy tales have - and perhaps will always be - an intrinsic and basic element of human
