Stated by Robert tew, “the struggle you 're in today is developing the strength you need for tomorrow” (Pinterest.com). Today, our society isn’t exactly called “ideal”. From people who moribund from starvation to millions of animals killed every year in cruel, inhuman science experiments. One girl named Malala is famous for her act of preventing a revolting rule of females to not be allowed to have an education. Besides that, women are also not allowed to hear music, watch TV or internet, not fly kites, don’t read books, don’t laugh, shout, or clap in public. No Photographs of women on T.V or in newspapers, even the hanging of pictures of women in ones own homes. And finally, no New Year, Labour Day and wedding celebrations. If you believe …show more content…
Young 16 year old Abby was preposterous after learning about the usage of “pest control” inhuman devices used to destroy lives. She contacted her local PETA to write a letter to the superintendent of her school district in order to command to stop using glue traps for the deaths of many. They accepted the recommendation and so on, all of the local Fairfax county schools would have banned the use of glue traps. Not only did she save the lives of many rodents, but her first rescue had come from an injured cat thrown out of a driving car. Today, Abby never misses a chance to volunteer at the local animal shelter near her house.risk something or forever sit with your dreams” (google) by Herb Brooks would be a strong quote that would represent, a young man named Williams AKA, the water guy. (givemetap.com) Williams last name was never revealed, but that definitely doesn 't matter compared to the big change in health and kindness he made an impact on. He wasn 't always in shape and he wanted to make a difference in his body to build epic gains. Williams was drinking just about five liters of water per day! While still at college, drinking that much water a day was a problem. For him and money. He started to run out of money with all that water, he was buying and he then started asking for free water which made Williams feel awkward and insecure. In Ghana,
Constantly, people hear rape crimes, sexual abuse, and the inequality between women and men on a everyday bases. Not only is this situation happening intensely in the United States, it becomes even more fierce in third-world countries such as India. Controversies surrounding women’s image and status should be resolved locally and internationally. It is not something that is completely irrelevant to us, it could happen to anyone, you, your friends, and even your family members. So, when people are talking misconceptions about the image of women, or giving funny comments about a serious issue that is relating to women, please stand up and defend for women’s rights. Any defensive action might have a chance of saving a life, strengthening women’s rights, and protecting their dignity. Women should not be told of what to wear, how to act, and when to play; men should be told not to
In the world today, women have a say in what they want to do and things that they desire to do. Back in the day, before the 1800’s, women had to be submissive to their male counterparts and do according to what was required of them. In the end, this led to the demeaning of the woman and the concept that women were inferior to men. Even though this concept and perception changed, there have been some countries and regions of the world that have not yet recognized the equality that women deserve. Such areas do not allow women to vote, attend school, have a say in the community, and the women are at the mercy of their husbands, fathers or male superiors (Hartmann, Susan M).
In “I Am Malala” sexism is a crucial social injustice that ruins the life of many women. This is also a debatable topic. Many believe that sexism exists while others disagree by proving their opposing point. 80% believe that sexism exists whereas 20% challenge their opponent by disagreeing with their belief. Some believe that sexism is a thing of the past and it doesn’t exist simply because of the small changes that are made due to the protests of women.
There are many activists who are trying to change the world. Many courageous women express their feelings about how they expect to be treated in society. In the article “All the Single Ladies”, written by Christina Chin, many Malaysian women realize that they do not need men in order to survive in the world. Since most women can now go to school for an education and get a job, these women can lead the world toward giving every women the rights they deserve and toward making society’s expectations for women more just. However, the article indicates that some Malaysian women feel that marriage is an important part of life, perhaps because of their Malaysian society’s expectations that “marriage is required by religion, marriage is for life, [and] divorce must be avoided.” These women want to follow tradition and are content with the expectations that are placed on them. However, many other Malaysian women feel that they are being oppressed and want to “have the right to decide when to marry, to whom, and whether to marry at all.” In other words, they are trying to assert their independence from the unfair expectations of their society and are attempting to free themselves from the oppression of their male dominated society. The article suggests that the strength of some women who are daring enough to boycott and rebel against their society’s
Gender gap cannot be dismantled by only amending laws against sex discrimination, but when it enables all to the same share in law. Women need to break through barriers to be on the path to success. Women are not men and need not compete with men to show her vitality. Women bleeds and is not a choice, this does not mean men need to bleed. Women require challenging patriarchy rather than each other. Akhila had a barrier in her life of her fears to do things for herself. Fear can give no power, but facing truth sets a being free. Her emotions are not to be squished but nurtured well. Wearing masks one after another to please the society only weakens the natural energy of a female. We need not cover up our insecurity from the world. Women should stop dying from things that happened in past. It is ok to be imperfect, which is human. Women do not require finding their identity in the comparison with men. When a woman stands up to voice for herself, she raises up for all the women globally.
Be part of the change. Do not deny your power to affect others, ultimately forfeiting it. We are all responsible whether we choose to take action or not. The 20th century saw an unprecedented upheaval in the status of women. Even though there was backlash at every turn, significant progress has been made. That progress can continue with its momentum, but only if we remain conscious and active in our convictions. Refuse to be allowed only partial expression of your humanity. The only thing that will do is make happiness unattainable by leaving everyone unfulfilled and dissatisfied. Always keep in mind that while the path of least resistance may be easier today, it perpetuates oppression. Unless we do something today, the next generation of our sons, daughters, nieces, and nephews will be the ones dealing with these social issues. So remember, there is always a child of the next generation out there
While we live in a country that has equal rights for all genders and races, that is not true for every country in the world. A modern example of civil disobedience is Malala Yousafzai, who defied a law put in place by the Taliban saying that women do not have the right to an education. Even though Malala was aware that speaking out would put her and her family in danger, she continued to write a blog and raise awareness of the Taliban’s threats even after a gunman shot her in the head in October of 2012. She is now the youngest ever Nobel Prize laureate and continues to be an advocate for a girl’s right to education. The
History has seen the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s and the Feminist Movement in the 1970s, and although society is not perfect, we have built a better moral system than what was seen in the early 20th century and earlier. The most important part of peaceful resistances is is that it can never end. This resilience will be the only way to change the free society into one that is founded upon equal rights, acceptance, and
With this indifference, many people are affected, as an example women are being restricted from multiple rights, and opportunities. As an ABC News film presents, Malala Yousatzai, a story about a young and small girl, that has been shot in the head and survived. Where she comes from women are just seen as housewife and servants of the husband
“Without doubt, the last century has witnessed an unprecedented expansion of women’s rights, in one of the most profound social revolutions the world has ever seen. One hundred years ago, only two countries allowed women to vote. Today, that right is virtually universal. Millions of men and women around the world today advocate to end violence against women, and a record two-thirds of countries have passed laws against it.” – Michelle Bachelet, UN Women Executive Director
I’m often touted by friends for not being realistic enough for the topic I spend so much time supporting, but I believe, even with all the horrors many women endure, that women can and will unite to free themselves. It may take many more years – I’m not a prophet, but I know the strength of female energy. We carry life and give birth. I don’t see those who are being suppressed remaining in those
Society confronts women with a myriad of obstacles. From reproductive rights to suffrage, it has been an uphill battle to escape objectification and marginalization. When women are viewed as sexual objects or matronly figures, there is no hope of progress. This is in part by the idea of conformity. Women who confront this head on have the potential for greatness but not without judgement and confrontation. Often times this adversity leads to quitting because of the daunting challenges that always seem to lie ahead. Whether it is not making the same money for the same work or being expected to endure sexual harassment on an everyday basis, it is a cruel world. Production relies off reproduction. Boys would never grow up to be the men of production
Sadly, many countries and/or communities still have that macho way of thinking, believing that a woman only has two jobs in life, serve her family and bear children. Unfortunately, in many cases, these women are being mistreated, beaten and/or shut down. We can see examples of these situations in some countries of the Middle East.
Women have been the most discriminated-against group of people in the entire history of humankind. They have been abused, held back in society, and oftentimes restricted to the home life, leading dull, meaningless lives while men make sure the world goes round. It seems strange that half of the world's population could be held down so long; ever since the dawn of humanity, women have been treated like second-class citizens. Only in the past 100 years or so have women started to win an equal place in society in the Western world. However, the fight for equality has not been a short one. The seeds of the liberation movement were planted hundreds of years ago, by free-thinking
Although they have been given more rights and equality, women still lack fairness in areas such as education, domestic abuse, crime, and lower class value. Cassandra Clifford states in her article “Are Girls still marginalized? Discrimination and Gender Inequality in Today’s Society”, “Woman and girls are abused by their husbands and fathers, young girls are exploited by sex tourism and trafficking, girls in many countries are forced into arranged marriages at early ages. Twice as many women are illiterate as men, due to the large gap in education, and girls are still less likely to get jobs and excel in the work place than boys.” She describes some of the issues that women face today around the world. These issues are what keep society from coming together to form a better world.
