Junot says, “I forced myself to stop. I forced myself to turn toward them, and it felt as if the whole world was turning with me”[14]. This is significant because Junot faced his fear of being scared of the boys, he developed the courage to walk past the boys. Diaz in the beginning was scared of the brothers and ran away every time he saw them, avoiding them every chance he could. At the end of the story, Diaz got over his fear and built up the courage to not run away from the brothers but to walk past them.
