The toughest part of friendship is when friends backstab you. Brutus, one of the main characters in the play Julius Caesar. Brutus is a dishonorable man because he did this very thing to his dearest friend. Brutus joined the conspiracy group out of envy for Caesar. The conspiracy group came about when Caesar was getting popular with the people. Caesar is Brutus’s so called best friend, the pair we’re close at one point. Caesar had thought this until his very last breath. Antony was Caesar’s servant, he proved himself to be the truest friend out of them all. Brutus is a dishonorable man because he betrayed and literally backstabbed his best friend. One reason that makes Brutus dishonorable is at Caesar’s funeral when giving his speech in act
While Brutus was trying to be honorable to Rome, he betrayed his friendship to Caesar, making him dishonorable. I would disagree with anybody who would call Brutus honorable. Brutus also leaves Rome with no kind, ruler, or government. Once Caesar is dead, he has no plan for what will happen to Rome next, he just expects the people to figure it out. This also represents an example of Brutus being dishonorable.
Brutus was a wise and intelligent Roman citizen, who claimed that he was Caesar’s friend. Yet, he was quickly swayed to the conspirators side by some anonymous letters and a bit of flattering.
In the play, The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, William Shakespeare shows how friends often betray each other. Julius Caesar is about to be crowned king of Rome, when some well-known Romans decide that it is not a good idea for this to happen. They form a conspiracy and kill Caesar. Brutus, an honorable Roman and a very good friend of Caesar’s, betrays Caesar by killing him for the good of Rome. Antony, Caesar’s best friend and another honorable Roman, betrays Brutus by turning against the conspirators. Cassius, a respected Roman, and Brutus betray each other by arguing and destroying their friendship. All this betraying lead to many deaths in the play.
Brutus is most definitely a honorable man because honor is the main reason why Brutus dies in the end. But, is also why he is titled a hero. After lucilius capture, he states “ i dare assure thee that no enemy shall ever take life of the Noble Brutus”.(6, 3) After the defeat of his army, Brutus wants to die nobly. It is achieved after he orders strato to kill him. Antony states “ this was the noblest Roman of them all” which to me says a lot of how people or other characters think about Brutus. Also Brutus had no personal Grudge towards Caesar what so ever it was just the simple fact that even the author states “Not that I loved Caesar less, but that I loved
As noble and great as Brutus might be, all tragic heroes have some tragic flaws and make some errors of judgment, which leads them to their downfall. In this case Brutus's great flaw is that he is too honorable, and he's too naïve when he is dealing with people. An example of an error of judgment is when Brutus underestimates Antony, and thinks him incapable of being dangerous after Caesar's death, "For Antony is but a limb of Caesar...he can do no more than Caesar's arm When Caesar's head is off." This turns out not to be the case. One example of Brutus's excessive honor being damaging to him, is when he decides that only Caesar should die and no one else even if they seem to threaten his cause, as Cassius warns repeatedly that Antony does.
Brutus was unloyal, gullible, and dishonorable. In the beginning of the play, Brutus was one of Caesar’s closest friends. Caesar trusted Brutus for most of his life until
Marcus Brutus was a reputable man to the people of Rome and to his friend Caesar. Brutus had good intentions for Rome’s people, which is why he did not think Caesar would be a good leader. Although Caesar was in shock to see Brutus included in the men that stabbed him, Brutus only did it for the good of the people. Brutus reveals his nobility to his people when he says in Act 3, scene 2, “…If then that friend demand why Brutus rose against Caesar, this is my answer: not that I loved Caesar less, but that I loved Rome more”(126). Brutus’s statement explains that he had all the respect for Caesar as anyone else, but the love for his people and home was much more prized. He killed Caesar out of fear of what may happen to the beloved people of Rome. This proves that Brutus’s intentions were just as honorable as the man he was. In addition to both characters being honorable, their actions got the best of them and may have changed them for the worst.
Indeed, Brutus was a honorable man. His honor was his greatest strength, but it was also his weakness. He murdered and betrayed his closest and only friend, due to the fact that he was so focused on doing the most honorable thing. Brutus focused more on principles, than the one person who truly cared about him. Consequently he also cared more about principle, than his own common sense. Therefore, his main focus was on honor and principle, which caused him to kill Caesar. He murdered Caesar because he thought it would solve the problem, but it only caused pandemonium.Consequently, his actions produced an angry mob, ready to avenge Caesar's death. If Brutus never took matters into his own hands, he would not have created a vicious crowd of citizens filled with hatred. He never solved the problem. When it got out of control, he resorted to killing himself. Cowardly, when things got tough, he ran away from it. He
Brutus is truly “an honorable man.” He was initially resistant to Cassius’ suggestion to betray Caesar. Also, Brutus says, “not that I loved Caesar less, but that I loved Rome more.”(3.2.22) This proves that he only does what he feels is necessary to protect the Rome. In act 4, Brutus sees the ghost of Caesar, and this tells us that he is regretting his actions. He never felt right about killing Caesar afterwards. In fact, when he realized that he was wrong, he used the knife that he stabbed Caesar to take his own
Tom Cochrane once said “ Tragedy in life normally comes with betrayal and compromise, and trading on your integrity and not having dignity in life. That’s really where failure comes.” In “ Julius Caesar”, Brutus plays a big role in the betrayal of caesar being part of a plan to kill Caesar. Moreover, Brutus put off that he was for the People of Rome, but the deeper the play goes the more suspicion of Brutus’s true objective comes into play. Brutus was naive in believing Cassius and his moral judgement was off. All in all, brutus betrayed Caesar.
“The saddest thing about betrayal is that it never comes from your enemies, It comes from your friends and loved ones.” I say that because Brutus and Caesar were close friends, and Brutus betrayed Caesar by killing him over a material thing which was the crown. Brutus also told everyone that Caesar basically wasn’t fit enough to be their king. “ It must be by his death; and for my part, I know no personal cause to spurn at him, but for the general.
He thought that he was helping Rome by doing this, but in reality he was committing a sin. He shouldn’t have lost a good friend just for him to help his country. Brutus is the least honorable character because he was Caesar’s friend, but was easily set back by Cassius. It was very obvious that Cassius did not like Caesar.
Brutus was such an honorable men to Caesar. He respected him and trusted all of his decisions for the best of Rome. He loved him so much he were to never harm Caesar. So then Cassius, who is Brutus best friend
Brutus is a betrayer. He stabs his best friend, Caesar after conspiring against him with a group of others. However, many people would disagree on my opinion. They say that Brutus was doing what was right for his country and that he HAD to stab his best friend to save Rome.
Brutus is shown to be a dishonorable man in the way he betrayed his country and its people. As stated previously, Brutus
