“Knowledge will give you power, but character respect” - Bruce Lee. In James Dashner’s The Maze Runner, respect is an underlying theme that is constant throughout the novel. Respect is not something that is gained it is always earned, it takes something meaningful to earn it. Respect is not given idly by any person and is shown in the novel. Respect and trust usually go hand in hand and are good things to have in a community. One of the things that can earn respect is friendship and loyalty, if they become good friends and are loyal to each other respect will come easily. Although respect does not necessarily result in friendship. Another thing that earns respect is the value of knowledge and experience. If one runs into another who does the same thing as them, but better, instantly they gain a form of respect in either form of admiration or jealousy. Lastly respect can be earned through actions of cleverness and intelligence as people who see people do clever or smart things usually gain some admiration and respect. In the novel, The Maze Runner, respect is represented throughout the novel through a variety of forms such as, friendship, experience and actions. To start, respect and trust can be earned through a good friendship and/or a strong loyalty. When someone is loyal to another, they instantly acknowledge it due to its positive effect. Being loyal and doing the right thing even though it is wrong is a definite cause of respect, Thomas says, "I didn't do anything
Respect is very important both in the military and in the civilian world. In most cases, people can easily tell when someone respects them or not. Once they feel that they are being respected, they can instill more trust into a person, respect them back, and take what the person says to heart. They can put faith into that person. Once we earn someone’s respect, it is much easier to gain his or her cooperation. It is much easier to have them support us and take our sides. We don’t have to put as much effort in to getting them to listen to an order or doing what they are told. Respect must be EARNED. You must provide someone with your respect before they show you the same respect. This is what I mean by earning it. I do not believe that respect can be demanded or forced. Demanding someone’s respect will most likely lead to some type of conflict. Respect
Respect is something as simple as treating everyone equally regardless of age, colour, weight, beliefs, gender, sexual orientation and so on. If Irene is respected, she will feel more comfortable in her environment and less stressed (Gallagher, 2007).
It is important to allow someone to know that you respect them. It will ease the conversation and create trust. Behavior and attitude will allow the person demanding respect to feel that respect. When we respect each other, there are fewer conflicts. People get along easier and avoid the unnecessary drama associated with a lack of respect.
Everyone wants to be respected. It’s in our nature, but in order to obtain respect, first of all one has to respect oneself. Second, one has to show respect to others in order to gain respect from them. If one doesn’t show respect to someone, that person may often feel blown off and lose respect for you. Respect in my eyes is like a math equation loyalty plus duty equals respect. respect is gained in conducting ones self in a way that others can stand

Respect is an important element in effective communication, and the development of a relationship. Actively listening to another person’s point of view or opinion, remembering personal details, showing an interest and responding in an appropriate manner, all show that you have listened and placed importance upon what has been said, which leads to positive relationships and respectful, effective communication.
Strengths of being respectful children never know when you’ll meet again. Treating someone with utmost respect now will leave a memorable impression on them. Children never know when that person will be in a position where you need their help in the future. A bit shallow, yet very realistic way of looking at respect.
I seen the Maze Runner i seen it with my grandpa and my brothers in the movie theater and the movie maze runner is about teens and they have to escape the maze and one day a boy name thomas and he was new and people didn't like him only some people did and then there were runners that find the way out the maze and one of the boys got stung by something in the maze and the leader had to go into the maze with one of the boys who didn't get stung. And so they went into the maze and the other people said they aren’t coming back but they did but the doors were already closing and the leader got stung and the other runner had to trang him back but they were not going to make it. So thomas went in there and now they have to wait for the doors to open but they are not going to open until morning.
In other cases respect is earned, and not given. What I mean by this is that, sometimes people must gain the respect of others. This can be earned in many ways, like being respectful of others, being the best you can be, and doing kind things for others. This respect can cause people to look up and follow in example of someone, and eventually making you an example for others to follow and look up to, on so on and so forth.
Respect is holding something or someone in high regard. Respect has an impact on all aspects of my life, both personally and professionally. As a personal value, respect is twofold; I must respect everyone around me as well as respecting myself. I will demonstrate respect for others by treating everyone equally and without judgement. I will listen and be considerate of the opinions and values of others, regardless of conflicting opinions. I will respect myself by dressing modestly and not objectifying myself as a woman. I will not engage in any unethical behaviour that may compromise my personal morals and values.

Most people go through life and always hear about the word respect, but they don’t know what it means. Respect is the esteem for or a sense of the worth or excellence of a person. There are things in life you need to hold in respect. Respect for yourself, respect for others, and respect for property. Respect is taught to people everywhere and it is even taught to them in their religions. Respect is the very aspect that keeps everything in your life.
Many great poets and writers have been around for centuries. Their books have carried on their legacy and the secrets of the past. But not all great writers have lived in the past, many now exist in our time such as J.K Rowling, Yann martel and Suzanne Collins. Many of their books have been turned into movies such the hunger games and The harry potter series. But the biggest problem directors seem to face is cutting and changing parts of the movie to make it shorter and more action packed. A good director will succeed at making the right decisions while still keeping the plot relatively the same. But many directors fail to recreate the image that the book creates which leads to disappointment. The maze runner is à novel by james dashner that
The Maze Runner, written by James Dashner is the first book in the Maze Runner pentalogy. The story follows the adventures of a sixteen-year-old boy named Thomas, who finds himself waking up in the heart of a labyrinth, titled ‘The Glade’. As it turns out there are many teenage boys accompanying Thomas. The aim is to escape from the labyrinth, but this does not go as effortlessly as it sounds, due to the fact that the labyrinth is constructed by the inexplicable and threatening WICKED (World In Catastrophe Killzone Experiment Department). At nightfall, the walls of the labyrinth move and barricade the four entrances of the labyrinth. The walls prevent the boys from being attacked by creatures called grievers, who walk around the labyrinth every night. (Dashner,
I'll say straight away that this isn't a bad film, there are definitely a lot worse and it isn't the worst of 2014 either. But it just isn't that good either, if i could've given this 3 and a half stars I would've, but we're stuck with 3. The Maze Runner didn't interest me when it was released in cinema, I hadn't heard the greatest reviews about it, just mediocre things, and seeing the trailer it didn't really stand out to me personally. For the record I haven't read the books either, so I can't compare book to film like a lot of people are able to. When walking around HMV, as I do, I saw it and thought I'd give it a try, and I'll say this, it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be, it's a lot better then the Divergent
