“The Cat at the Wall” by Deborah Ellis is a novel about a girl named Claire who died and came back as a cat. She sneaks into a house and there are two Israeli soldiers and the cat realizes there is someone else there with her. A boy, but he is hiding under the floorboards. The boy was scared and worried. Many conflicts are already happening between Israeli soldiers and the villagers of the town.Together they face many challenges and we see numerous flashbacks of Claire's old life as a human. The story proposes many themes and ideas. Judging people by their backgrounds is a big part of the story. “Individuals are so quick to judge people/groups because of their backgrounds/appearances/ and personal experiences and this can lead to violence”.
The title of the book, “The Cat at the Wall”, is not talking about a physical wall but a rather emotional and mental wall that Claire had created about her teacher, Ms.Sealand/Ms.Zero, she assumed many horrible things about her and always thought ms.zero had it for her it but in reality that was not true. The wall was just made up of lies and assumptions. At the end of the book, Claire realized that the things She thought about her teacher were not true and Claire's death was not the teacher's fault. “She may not have hated me. She may not have had it for me from the beginning. She may have been waving to tell me to stay where I was” (pg. 143).

While physically free, he will become trapped by a symbolic wall of guilt as he is laying the last of the stone. The Raven, also by Poe, shows of a “wall” between the narrator and the refrained term,nevermore. The narrator does not wish to see the association with his wife, Lenore and death. The angels know her name, therefore she must have recently passed and he is unable to get over the emotional wall of never seeing his loved one again.

"The Yellow Wallpaper" takes a close look at one woman's mental deterioration. The narrator is emotionally isolated from her husband. Due to the lack of interaction with other people the woman befriends the reader by secretively communicating her story in a diary format. Her attitude towards the wallpaper is openly hostile at the beginning, but ends with an intimate and liberating connection. During the gradual change in the relationship between the narrator and the wallpaper, the yellow paper becomes a mirror, reflecting the process the woman is going through in her room.

Throughout this story Elie goes through lots of challenges that ultimately challenge his faith as a human. In resemblance, Jakob Blankitny a Jew from Maków Mazowiecki, Poland writes his take on his experiences in 1944 throughout the holocaust and how he and his family are treated by the Nazis and degraded as humans. In dire circumstances, these texts argue that dissolving one into a primitive with savage, animal characteristics are necessary for survival under inhumane conditions.

The novel Night (2006), by Elie Wiesel, illustrates a strong theme of inhumanity towards other humans. Night is a nerve-racking record of the authors’ experiences in the Holocaust, set in the Nazi concentration camps of Auschwitz and Buchenwald. Wiesel retells his visions of the Nazis horrendous treatment towards the Jews. The book gives the reader a perspective of an adolescent living in a horrible situation, where he and others who believe in the Jewish religion are treated with no humanity. Discrimination is now becoming a well-known term around the world; many acknowledge it from the time they came across: sexism, racism, ageism, and the type Anne Frank came across, persecution. Anne Frank was a thirteen-year-old Jewish girl who was hiding from the German Army or the Nazi’s, as they are better recognized back then. Her life story consisted of constantly escaping and being in isolation from those who wanted her dead; it was a difficult time to live in. Anne Frank was attacked because of her differences; Adolf Hitler (leader of the Nazi’s) was killing anyone who was not classified as “pure” or part of the “superior race”.
In Edgar Allen Poe’s “The Black Cat” the story tells how the narrator falls into alcoholism and turns into a violent, mad person. His change in personality causes him to kill his first cat. While in his fit of killing the second cat, his wife tries to defend the cat, then her husband accidently kills her. “The Yellow Wallpaper” by Charlotte Perkins Gilman clarifies how the narrator has a wild imagination, but for treatment of depression, her husband keeps her confined to her bedroom (Gilman 88). With him taking away any way for her to use her imagination, it causes her to become extensive and turn it into craziness (Gilman 96). Both stories show significant similarities of the main characters suffering and how it affected their regular lives, but there’s a contrast between the two stories also.

The Cat In The Hat by Dr. Seuss, pseudonym of Theodor Seuss Geisel, tells a story of two children at home on a rainy day alone, being visited by the Cat in the Hat and the turmoil that he causes. The Cat In The Hat is clearly Geisel’s most famous book, written in 1956 and published in 1957, considered a children’s classic today. It was The Cat In The Hat “where Dr. Seuss jubilantly breaks the barriers of the basal reader’s simplistic language and pedestrian artwork” (MacDonald 10). In The Cat In The Hat, Geisel uses this childish language and comical pictures as well as an interesting story and fun characters to not only create a successful children’s book but to deliver a subtle political message of rebellion against authority.
