In the book To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee takes place in Maycomb, Alabama. A trial takes place because Tom Robinson was convicted of rape charges. Also, they spend most of time spying on their neighbor Boo Radley.
Racism is a huge part in this novel. The blacks were the “odd” people. Blacks were not allowed to be with the whites in public places. For example in the courthouse physical separation of the races and the clearly distinct black and whites ares of the town. Scout experiences between the white and black people. Her and Jem go to church together with Calpurnia and Scout loved the experience. Scout, Dill, and Jem sit with the black residents of the town in the balcony at the courthouse when they observed the trail.
