The cost of trained guard dogs ranges between the middle tens of thousands of dollars to hundreds of thousands of dollars. Tempting figures such as these, motivate unscrupulous individuals to get into the guard dog business. These people have neither the professional knowledge nor the desire to put in the hundreds of hours of labor required to train guard dogs possessing these qualities: Loyal Stable Well balanced Self-confident Steady nerves Willing to obey commands Able to self calm Responsive to the owner Instead, they train dogs for aggression using abusive methods that produce high-strung animals with poor impulse control, a low bite threshold, and no ability to calm down once excited. The dogs are then sold on the cheap at prices under
“The United States Police Canine Association became the largest and oldest active organization of its kind- “Ever striving for the betterment of all police K-9” – in August, 1971 when two existing associations, the Police K-9 Association and the United States K-9 Association, merged” (O’Heare). These two organizations now know that strength is in unity. From these groups merged different types of canine from basic patrol dog to the scent specialty dog and final to the great detector dog. Law Enforcement requires canines that have outstanding performance and physical/psychological health. Also, canines should be balanced in aggression behavior and social play. There is an abundance of good and bad to learn about

There are many ways that service dogs make a difference in the life of a person with disabilities. Furthermore there is a lot to learn from service animals, starting from the history of how it started to what the cost of owning and training a service animal. To the laws behind being able to own a service dog, and where dogs are allowed and how much training a dog needs in order to be able to be certified. Man’s best friend: you would think that that title would conjure up images of humans, or even our closest cousins in the animal kingdom, such as monkeys, apes, and chimpanzees. However, the first image that enters most humans head is the same image that would have induced fear hundreds of years ago, the not so distant heir to the wolf: dogs. The same creatures that we feuded with for survival now take up a huge part of our lives and make up a large portion of the images littering the internet. Dogs take part in everything from movies to family gatherings, to search and rescue and emotional or physical service. Nearly fifty percent of American households alone have at least one dog, and between all of us we own 83.3 million dogs, a number not to be trifled with. The place our four-legged canine companions claim is undisputed and easily backed up.
Service dogs are trained to assist people with physical and mental impairments. They are not pets. It was not until after World War I that a modern guide dogs school was founded. However, the United States did not have a Seeing Eye dog until 1928. Today there are many service dog schools such as Guide Dogs of America and Occupaws. The American’s with Disabilities Act guaranties that people with service dogs cannot be refused service at restaurants, stores, health care facilities, places of lodging, or recreational settings. To obtain a service dog, a person must be legally disabled and able to train with the dog for 3-6 months. It costs an average of $25,000 to breed, train, and certify the dogs. While many dog-owners walk, play, and love their pet dogs, some dog-owners use the sweet and loyal creatures to fight and make money. Povey and F.E.D.S. agree with Dog Breeds Expert when it was stated, “where you find dog fights, you’ll often find a whole many more criminal activities taking place too.” (“Dog Fighting Breeds”) Povey continues this thought with saying dogfighting “is often associated with drug dealing, gambling, and other criminal activities related to gangs.” (Povey) It is agreeable that any activity associated with such a high number of other illegal activities should be outlawed. While it is outlawed in the United States, it remains a popular sport illegally in the United States and in numerous other countries. Because dogfighting is such a popular sport, the trainers are typically very picky about the dog breed used.
My charity organisation is Guide Dogs of America. Guide Dogs of America is a charity organisation that helps the visually impaired or blind people. They are committed to help the blind “see” with guide dogs. They have helped a lot of people by providing the blind or visually impaired with a dog.
Each dog breed has a varying intelligence quotient, making it harder or easier to train certain dogs. An individual should consider how patient and steady they are willing to be when it comes to training a dog and should then apply that to which breed would fit best with their personality. The intelligence of a dog is based on how quickly and consistently they learn and obey commands, how well they perform a given task, and how willing they are to learn humanistic jobs. The Border collie is said to be the smartest dog breed as they learn quickly and have “amazing instinct and working ability.” They are known to herd sheep and remain in control of a flock, just as shepherds do. Border collies would therefore be ideal for a person who isn’t willing
“Do you consider dogs as a factor that can protect our homes”? Many people are sitting out there at their homes looking for protection; therefore dogs can be very protective when it comes to defending a place. There are two kinds of dogs that can protect properties and homes. Guard dogs and attack dogs which can both make you feel more secure. Guard dogs task is originally to alert their owner of a stranger’s presence, unlike attack dogs they are only trained to attack strangers. ( Both guard dogs and attack dogs can protect, but they both have different training techniques, which reflect on different strategies they use within their protecting skills.
