Sometimes watching animated or cartoons can teach us more life lessons than our family and friends can teach us. Cartoons, in general, are synonym for entertainment, pleasure and laughter, which comes with moral and huge life lessons to follow, which make life simpler, easier and of course, more beautiful. For example, after watching the animated movie “How to Train Your Dragon” it made me think how important it is not to judge anything before getting to know it (even if it is a fire breathing dragon). Long ago up North on the Island of Berk, the young Viking, Hiccup, wants to join his town's fight against the dragons that constantly terrorized. However, his father the village leader, Stoik the Vast, will not allow his small, clumsy, but inventive son to do so. Regardless, Hiccup ventures out into battle and downs a mysterious Night Fury dragon with his invention, but can't bring himself to kill it. Instead, Hiccup and the dragon, whom he later names Toothless, begins a friendship that would open up both their worlds as the observant boy learns that his people …show more content…
But have you really thought about loving your enemy. Probably not. You’re maybe thinking “Why should I love my enemy? Shouldn’t I hate them?” Well, when you think about it, your enemy can surprise you, like helping you out, supporting you, and even change throughout the years. Just like in the movie “How to Train Your Dragon”, the Vikings hated the dragons as much as the dragons hated the Vikings. But later on in the movie when Hiccup proved that loving our enemies can help us in the long run, by Hiccup refusing to kill a dragon and learning to love them, helped the town realize that dragons aren’t bad as they seem. Which helped them defeat another dragon that was 1,000 times their size, which helped end this relentless war between Vikings just by loving their
Another obvious heroic characteristic that Beowulf portrays is the defeat of monsters and other malevolence. He does this throughout the story, not only using brute force, but also cunning tactics, such as the time when he attacks Grendel’s extremely sensitive ears. Beowulf also disposes of Grendel’s Mother, using a gigantic sword in her lair to decapitate her, and ends the reign of terror on the Danes. Years later, after Beowulf is crowned King, his land is assailed by the Dragon. This epic battle proves just how valiant Beowulf actually is, going after the beast single-handedly, instead of endangering any of his men. It is a long, hard-fought battle, in which Beowulf contests with all his might. Beowulf ultimately kills the Dragon –rips out its heart-, but not without a price; the battle costs the King his life.
This is shown in the third and final battle as Beowulf sacrifices his life for the prosperity of the Geat nation. The dragon in this scenario encompasses extreme greed and selfishness. In the poem, a wretched man steals a golden goblet from the treasure that the dragon was protecting. After discovering that someone had stolen a piece of the treasure, the dragon awoke and “began to belch out flames / and burn bright homesteads; there was a hot glow / that scared everyone, for the vile sky-winger / would leave nothing alive in his wake” (2311-2315). The dragon becomes enraged with greed over his possessions that he must avenge his stolen goblet. It is in this third battle that the poet describes why the hero cannot demonstrate these treacherous traits. Beowulf seeks vengeance for his Geat people: “My own kith and kin avenged” (2479). Just as Grendel’s mother, Beowulf seeks to avenge his kin in cold blood.
John Gardner creates a humorous tale in medieval time with fantasy. I know this because the dragon in the story starts talking witch is definitely not real. I know he likes medieval times because nowadays kings and queens have guards not knights.
Introduction: As long as there have been civilizations, there have been stories, myths that are told to children. These stories are usually the basis of the cartoons characters except some which are from creator’s imagination. This story telling is a means of not only comforting and amusing a child, but of teaching the child the societal norms of their nation. These are memorized by children and remembered forever. Children idolize their favourite character, the character they have most in common with and are best able to identify with, and try to emulate that character’s
Normally when one thinks about observing a creative activity they immediately think of sports or the arts, their mind being flooded with images of dancers gliding across a stage, painters swiping their brush across a canvas, or strong-abled bodies dribbling a ball down a field. All of these activities are undoubtedly creative, but as American society has grown and changed with advancing technology, so has the way people are able to engage in creative processes and events. In the last fifty years, the gaming world has exploded, bringing with it a new form of creativity. From electronic gaming to board games and live action role playing games (RPG), these new forms of competitive entertainment have been laying the foundations for a new outlet of creativity.

The famed castle in the sky, the citadel of the gods, and the seat of power through the Revalon Empire. It went by many names from many different people, but one thing could be agreed upon universally; it was a technological marvel. Many things had been created simply from studying the design of the impressive flying castle. Of course though it all belonged to the royal family along with just about everything else under the sun-touched lands. The power of Dragonsreach was irresistible and that meant that whoever ruled it would essentially be a god in the face of lesser kings. The current king had been chosen to rule from Dragonsreach based on a democratic process of sorts years ago, but now that the throne was comfortably sat in no one in the realm could overrule a decree by the High King of Revalon. The floating castle was both a symbol of unmatched beauty and of unmatched power.
The early anglo-saxon culture placed value many things; gifts, a long life, and loyalty. But one thing surpassed all of these in importance; courage. The demonic dragons terrorizing the population create an aura of fear that no character can deny, but Beowulf stands up to the demons and defeats them. He displays incredible courage in the face of danger and creates a legacy for himself that lives on with his people, even after his demise. Despite the numerous dragons he faced, Beowulf defeated evil when all hope seemed lost. Because of the unshakable courage he possessed; he did it not once, not twice, but three times.

“Most obstacles melt away when we make up our minds to walk boldly through them”. Slaying my dragon was an exhausting rollercoaster ride. My journey was not simple. Switching schools, making new friends, and dealing with change was difficult--but not impossible.
Dragon Force is a greatly underrated heavy metal band that deserves much more respect than they receive. Their lead guitarist Herman Lee can play absurdly hard songs, almost as much as Eddie Van Halen, yet barely anybody recognizes him for it. Even though they are a famous band, they are not as popular as they should be, and have been seriously dying down.
“The Fifty-First Dragon” is a short story that tells a tale of a young man named Gawaine le Cœur-Hardy in which Heywood Broun, the author, presents his story as Gawaine is taught to slay dragons, by his Headmaster, and how having confident could save one’s life. The theme of the story has to do with overall confidence in oneself. Although Gawaine failed to believe in himself, he accomplished a task that no one else could. He slayed fifty dragons, and there was not any one that had ever reach his goal in history as they say. Heywood Broun portrayed this story as if an individual believes in themselves, anything is possible.
