“If citizens cannot trust that laws will be enforced in an evenhanded and honest fashion, they cannot be said to live under the rule of law. Instead, they live under the rule of men corrupted by the law” Quoted by Dale Carpenter. Have you noticed how the government enforces the laws these days influenced by corrupted system and the destruction of our constitution? The creation of bills and laws that are being passed that are mainly for more control and to take away our rights. This is reality, we the people are being controlled and you are playing along in their plan to brainwash us in believing we are ok. There are regular people, celebrities, good politicians who have spoke out about this subject and have been shut up by the powers that …show more content…
Look at what you watch on TV, movies, video games all of which are showing how dumbed down we are. The 1% controls the media, music industry, and has power as up as the government. Let’s look at celebrities who believe that we are a police state Bill Maher, Alex Jones, Jesse Ventura, the late George Carlin, Jimmy Kimble, these are some who believe. They talk about it on TV and comedy bits which all can be found on Youtube. Even the general public who have seen past the system are fighting it taking the right actions such as peaceful protesting. Also the people that over the years entertaining us have the same belief that we are being controlled, wouldn’t you think there is something really going on. How many times have you seen protesting about the government taking our rights away and suddenly never talked about again because of a new story they want us to hear instead of what they are really doing. Even the news is rigged we are being told that it’s all the news we need to hear. Stories that do not even need to be said to us why because they are trying to entertain us. Notice there is comedy in the news even CNN has a morning broadcast designed to make you laugh at their jokes. Local news is different they are told what to say when something happens in the surrounding area and world new but always sneaks in some laughs, that’s just what I see.
The police of this country have changed throughout history due to the eras of
The Associations of Chiefs of Police created this website as a police informational site. It is an educational site that explains the hiring process, basic requirements, training and academy life, and skills candidates should process. The site also offer a virtual ride along. I can use this site to explain the training and academy life of a cadet.
We have control of the elected officials we elect, who work hard to continuously represent us the best they can, and therefore, give us control in the government and allow all our voices to be heard. The United States was built on freedom, the Founding Fathers understood what when writing the Constitution, and allowing all citizens voices to be heard is a very concept. So, I’m going to ask you again, is this country run by the few chosen elites who dominate the policymaking? Or do you believe that you have a say over your countries lawmaking and policymaking
The United States of America as a republic is defined to have "a government of laws, and not of men" as stated by John Adams during its founding (5). Therefore no man or group of men can exist above the law without disturbing civil cohesion and a breakdown in how our society functions. It is the fundamental responsibility of the government to maintain and enforce
The United States is facing a continuous wide spread of police brutality from the past to today. TV Networks, newspapers/magazines, bloggers and forums are getting involved into the discussion about police brutality. After a father bought a toy gun for his son for his birthday, his son went outside to play and a police officer saw him with the gun not knowing it was a toy and shot him several times. This incident occurred in Sonoma County in October 2013. Something close to that happened in November 2014 where a Cleveland police officer killed a 12-year-old boy carrying a toy gun. On April 12, 2015 Freddie Gray was arrested by Baltimore City police and while being transported he allegedly fell in a coma, with injuries to his spinal cord. Use of excessive force by police is common in black communities. Officers aren’t trained effectively and they act out of fear. On uslegal.com Police brutality is described as a civil rights violation that happens when a police officer acts with excessive force by using an amount of force with regards to a civilian that is not necessary. Excessive force by law enforcement officers is a violation of a person 's rights.
Through the years the government has tried to control us through many different ways, and in my opinion the main source they use to do that is the media. From televisions, to radios, to newspapers and the Internet, this giant swirl of information, is designed to keep us, the members of society informed and educated on the issues and events going on in the world. But what we are seeing, hearing and believing, is far from that. Not only are we being lied to for the use of monetary gain, but we are also being influenced on many aspects of our lives. The media is manipulating the information they give, pulling an imaginary blanket over our eyes, so that we believe what they want us to believe. The world of modern media has become a tool of de-evolution, propaganda and social control. If we keep being ignorant of what is going on sooner than later we will eventually become like Oceania and it will be too late to stop
Being a minority in the United States has never been easy and does not seem to be getting any better. Minorities have been exposed to violence by law enforcement for many decades. Law enforcement 's are tasked with protecting and serving its citizens, not to harass and assault them. Police brutality is a continuous problem in the United States and officers need to be accountable for their actions. This research project will examine how police brutality often leads to death because of some officers ' unnecessary physical aggression and poor judgment, some incidents leads to unjust shootings, and finally, the misconduct of police officers. By understanding how police brutality is increasing and the violence that comes with it, police officers can then receive better training and learn how to gauge certain situations to avoid use of violence and abuse their power.
Public policing and private security have several distinct differences in their essential policies. The essential policies for public policing are hierarchically organized; there are many official and formal levels of public agencies positions. Civil service examinations are the means of choosing only the most qualified personnel based on merit, the government gives the policies to public policing to execute. Again, the treatments of citizens using government services are to be fair and just and Public affairs focus is given to the management of public agencies and organizations. In addition, public service-oriented profit is not a motive they serve the public and publicly funded tax revenues fund these public administrations.
Nothing is flawless, and this is especially true of governments, which are simply collections of flawed individuals attempting to serve, or in some cases control, a larger group of flawed individuals. Despite this, a large portion of the population accepts the government’s procedures and regulations without a second thought. Dr. Brian Farrell’s lecture titled “Wrongful Convictions,” an article about false confessions by Douglas Starr titled “The Interview,” and even the events surrounding Prohibition are just some examples of a government that may provide order, but is far from perfect. RULES AND PROCEDURES ARE NOT ALWAYS BENEFICIAL AND CAN EVEN LEAD TO UNDESIRABLE CONSEQUENCES.
After the terrorist attacks of September 11th, 2001 our country underwent a change that has drastically affected the fundamental values that our founding fathers instilled in this country. Since that tragic day in September the aftermath of the attacks has started to implicate our Civil Liberties that in this country we hold so dear. Just 45 days after the September 11 attacks, with virtually no debate, Congress passed the USA Patriot Act on October 5th, 2001. This act expanded the surveillance powers of domestic law enforcement and international intelligence agencies. The controversy that must be discussed is whether or not this legislation fully or in part has violated the Constitution and/or endangered our civil
In 1998 talk show host Oprah Winfrey was sued by a meat company for speaking her mind and using her right to freedom of speech about how immoral a simple burger is to produce. Oprah was fortunate and won her case but for many others it is simply cheaper to pay big corporations, then pay for lawyers to fight back against these companies that take advantage of U.S law and corruption. It may be possible by capitalism, corrupted government, and U.S military might, for America to become government controlled.
The police work to keep everyone safe and keep order in society by enforcing laws, by investigating and preventing crimes. Recently it has become clear that things do not always work on that way. Sometimes police officers brutalize civilians and damage their possessions. The United States of America is one country where this phenomenon of police brutality is intensifying with no signs of slowing down. According to the statistics of The Washington Post, American police merely shot a thousand of people last year, and of those, just five hundred and sixty four were armed with guns. Kimberly Kindy, an investigative reporter at the newspaper Washington Post warned the public opinion about the trend of this phenomenon when she said, "In fact there has been an increase, a six per cent increase in fatal shootings when we compare the first six months of last year to the first six months of this year. There are about three people who are dying a day fatally shot by officers”. Her investigation provides evidence that the violence is increasing daily. It becomes clear that the violence of police forces becomes a serious national problem. However, this police brutality is the tree that conceals the huge crisis of the American Police.
The rule of law implies that all the citizens of a particular state are subject to the laws of that state, included in the category are the lawmakers who are also subject to the law itself (Stavar, 1998). The rule of law is in contrast with autocracy that is a form of government where unlimited power is held by a single individual or oligarchy where the government is run by a few selected individual who is wealthy. In all the named forms of governments, the rulers see themselves as above the law and that is what is being witnessed in the courts today. The judges cannot be touched by anyone even the law. Instead of following the rule of law people in the judicial system have taken the power into their hands, and it is they that decide the fate of the American citizens (Hoester, 1991). Judges in protecting the interest of a few individual make sentences that go against the laws they have the responsibility of practicing. It is quite fascinating of how the people in the court do not see the irony where those that are trying to fight against unlawful acts of the judges are the one being tried and sentenced while those that are carrying out illegal activities are the one pretending to be practicing the law(Sutherland,
Militarized police are people that perform police duties but have access to use military equipment as well as incorporated the rule and regulations they follow in the military. According to goarmy.com military and police have the same kind of duties like patrol, interview witnesses, victims and suspects in investigations, Crime scene security and processing, and arrest and charge criminal suspects. Their train on the other hand is very different. Military police go through basic warrior skills and use of firearms military/civil laws, jurisdiction Investigating, collecting evidence traffic, crowd control arrest and restraint of suspects. The only things that I see are different and could be helpful in some situations is the training they receive
Policing Powers In policing there is a variety of different powers that are in place to carry out their job, these powers must be carried out correctly. There are 5 main policing powers which are Arrest, Seize, Entry, Search and Detention. Within England and Wales there were 779,660 arrests in the year finishing in the March 2017.
Proactive policing like the name suggests, is the act of preventing the occurrence of crime by means of engaging the people by creating avenues where the police and the public can freely express their individual concerns and also by showing presence of the police (Scaramella, Cox, & McCamey, 2011). Proactive policing can be difficult to initiate as it is challenging to get to engage people in solving problems that have not actually happened. On the contrary, reactive policing is where police respond to an emergency, concern or a problem after it has already happened (Williams, 2014). This type of policing is known to be urgent and is usually executed relatively quickly when compared to proactive policing. Coactive policing is where the police work in co-operation with the public and other law enforcement agencies so as to first identify then address the critical issues in community safety. This kind of policing is still a new concept that police are trying to embrace and involves strategic approaches in solving either current problems or those that are likely to occur.
