For the photograph that I took, I decided to follow Weston’s theme and photograph an organic object with interesting features. I needed to find something with a vivid texture so that the photograph could allow the viewer to almost feel what I could. I searched throughout my room until finally, I found what I was looking for. It was a shell from the Pacific Ocean that I had brought back with me from Mexico. The shell had off-whites blended into browns and reds. It also had ridges running from the origin of the shell, to the outside. I found the situation to be somewhat ironic considering that Weston had lived in Mexico taking photographs, and also took pictures of shells. The camera that I used to photograph the shell was a Canon EOS Rebel …show more content…
I got the idea of using one of the shelves on my bookshelf, because the colors of the bookshelf are dark and would match some of Weston’s styles. I cleared out the old Calvin and Hobbes comic books and pokemon card collections until I was left with a dusty empty shelf. I cleaned it out then placed the shell against the back wall of the shelf. I lined up the camera with the shell, looked through the viewfinder, then snapped the photo. To my surprize, the shutter closed but did not open. I waited for a little then finally the shutter opened again. The result was a very blurry picture of what seemed to be nothing at all. I tried to take the picture again but I came up with the same result. I went online to figure out what was going wrong. It turned out that the shutter needed to be open for a long period of time in order to take in all the light and capture all the tiny details of the shell and …show more content…
Each ridge is visible and grows in size as it migrates from the origin to the edge, which shows how perfect and mathematical nature can be at times. The change in color pattern is also very visible. There is even a small chip in the shell can be seen at the top left corner. Some of the lint of the peacoat is visible in the picture, but it only gives enough so much as to emphasize the texture of the backdrop. When I went to print the picture, I edited the picture so that it would look black and white like the rest of Weston’s photographs. I also added a little more contrast to the picture so that the lines of the shell would look a tiny bit sharper because I wanted to make up for not having a 64 aperture. In my opinion, the photograph holds a very close resemblance to Weston’s pictures of shells in which he tried to capture all of their natural beauty. I like the way the photo turned out, but wish I could have had a better area to take the picture instead of laying on the ground and using books. The picture may have come out a hair more detailed if I would have had a tripod, but I don’t think it made that big of a difference. I believe that I was able to try and replicate Weston’s process to the best of my ability with the tools I
This painting is so realistic and painted with such precision and detail that he must’ve wanted us to see this place exactly how he did, with great beauty and light. The local colors are vibrant and cool yet still make you smile because it reminds you of a warm summer day. The use of two contrasting colors, the blue of the water and sky and the tan of the cliffs and couds, make the tan color stand out creating such a visually pleasing and dynamic effect. The organic fluffy clouds and the ripples in the water convey a peaceful sense to the scene. The pompous cliffs stand solidly contributing to the historical importance of this location. The artist captures the illusion of depth through atmospheric perspective; as the object gets farther it encompasses less detailed contributing to the descriptive nature of it. Since the left side of the painting is much heavier than the right this painting is asymmetrical. Your eye tends to gravitate towards the cliffs on the left because of their size and bright color which emphasize the cliffs. This emphasis creates a focal point that the viewer is immediately compelled to look at.
Grandparents relate more closely to grandchildren than to their own children in many ways. Grandparents and their children can be stubborn and not want to deal with each other anymore because of problems from the past. After so long grandparents give up on their children and deal with them from a distance. Grandparents are more willing to relate to their grandchildren more than their children because it is another chance of getting to know their children through their grandchildren.
Nike globally is one of those most well-known sportswear brands, as seen being wore by the NFL and other professional sports leagues. Gender equality among the depiction between men and women. Nike created an advertisement for their new product which challenges the typical view of women. Nike uses their popular consumer base to provoke gender equality by using contrasting colors and an unpopular portrayal of women.
How the teacher plans out the lesson and what materials are needed for that lesson must be done in advance and already set out before the lesson begins. The teacher needs to arrive on time to that lesson and be well presented and speak to the children in an appropriate manner. The teacher needs to address the
Over the course of this semester, the three essays that I wrote were the exploratory essay, “A Cute Condition” (12 pages), the personal narrative, “Lost and Found” (11 pages), and the profile essay, “Not for the Faint of Heart” (12 pages). After rereading my twelve-page exploratory essay, “A Cute Condition,” I was surprised by how I differently I felt about the essay at this point in the semester compared to when I first turned it in. This was an essay about cuteness and the baby schema effect. It was inspired by Joshua Slice’s animations about Lucas the Spider. Before I read this essay again, I wanted to say that this first essay was the one that I was most proud of because of the effort that I put into finding the sources and linking them
The two pieces of artwork being compared in this paper are two different ships made via the use of different mediums. These pieces, while similar in concept, are different in their executions. Through these two pieces, people will see that the two different mediums can achieve similar lifelike results.
How we are viewed to the outside world plays a part in who we we are as individuals, it becomes apart of our identity. No matter how much we try to deny it, how others view us impact how we view ourselves. To the outside world I am just viewed as a Caucasian female, but in reality I am a Mexican American. Throughout the years I have just started to identify as being Caucasian because that is just what everyone assumes, now my case is mild. It has not deeply affected who I am as a person, but for other people they are not so lucky. Being in America we are shoved in stereotypes, there is no uniqueness you are viewed as either ‘good white folk’, hoodlums, or immigrants. Now imagine being viewed as the latter, your ‘race’ forces you into the tight space of discrimination. You are now identified as being a hoodlum, that always seems to

The art work that I have chosen for this formal analysis of an art work is the Painter of Paestum’s piece titled “Red-figure lebes gamikos (marriage vessel) it was made with terracotta red clay. This piece was made between 340-330 B.C. It is approximately 10 inches in height. The present location of this art piece is at The San Antonio Museum of Art in the Greek Late Classical section. The collection is a permanent collection from Gilbert M. and Denman, Jr. whose funds were used to purchase the vessel.” (“San Antonio Museum of Art Wall Text”). These marriage vessels are frequently shown in marriage scenes on Greek vases. This marriage vessel could have been given as a wedding gift or used to contain water for the bride’s bath before the wedding ceremony. Also, it could have been placed by the bride’s door and was possibly used in a ritual of sprinkling the bride with water before the wedding ceremony.
In class we have been discussing the analogy of perspectives. A perspective is a way of seeing, also thought of as a ‘point of view’. This mental view or outlook can both enhance and constrain how we view the world in our own eyes. In the field of psychology and sociology there are many ways to perceive our world in which we live. No one perspective alone can define the world. Each perspective has its own distinctive strengths and blind spots. In class we have discussed different theories and analogies to better understand the complexity of perspectives.
The young, innocent, promising lives of our past drive emotions through artistic expressions that can be displayed though many outsources. Upon our day to view the art gallery, I entered the gallery feeling apprehensive that I would view any piece of art that I found relatable or even one that I found any interest in. I was wrong in my assumptions and found a beautiful painting named “Console” by Barlow Palminteri. Tasked with describing what the painting looks like, what it means to me, as well as my overall connection with the painting is what I’ll discuss within this paper. The painting’s colors, sizes, shapes, and artistic aspects drew me into its beauty and torment. Likewise, the painting reminded me of my youth that roused many different
The Gavorrano oversized arch mirror is like adding another window to your space. If hung or placed across from a real window it will reflect the view and the light making it feel like two windows. The Gavorrano mirror is made with a reclaimed pine frame that features a lightly aged gray wash finish and wrought iron Muntins. It’s big and beautiful 48" x 80."
Just before being discharged to the Rehabilitation of the Pacific, I once again asked the patient and his wife about completing the POLST and AHCD. I talked to both of them about the form and explained the each category in detail once again. I recommended that they should name an alternate agent, but for one reason or another, the both refused to complete both forms and elected not to name an agent. The wife felt that the husband was getting better and completing the form was unnecessary. Just before ending the conversation, I also mentioned to both of them that these two forms are not just for the sick, they are for the people who could state their wishes now so that their love ones would know your wishes prior to becoming ill. They continued
Although Two Shells looks like two shells, it seems to be only one. I think its name suggests two shells to pull the observer in closer to the image and tempt them to look carefully. On the outside, it looks like two, yet its curves and seamlessness point towards only one. The picture is a plain white shell placed against a black background, and the light is coming straight from the front. The shell is the subject of the photo and is therefore placed right in the
The text, Writing on Demand: Best Practices and Strategies for Success is designed specifically for teachers by teachers. With a quote on the cover of the text that is highlighted by a bright orange background and explicitly states that this book is “Ideal for SAT, ACT, AP, and State Assessment Exams”, the text quickly announces that its core audience is going to be teachers within the middle school to high school range. Given the aim of this text, it proves to be a highly beneficial work for aiding teachers in understanding how to adequately prepare their students for the rigors of writing on demand, be it for regular classroom assignments or standardized tests. After a thorough analysis of the text I found many of
