The first 3 habits of the book have to do with being proactive and setting goals/priorities and achieving those goals.

When you see a solider in his or her uniform, you are proud that they are serving this country to protect our freedom, securing our country, and defending democracy worldwide. The solider can come from different branches of the Military. The one you might be familiar with is the U.S. Army. The art of quoting and summarizing an argument is one of the main skills to acquire when it comes to writing a successful piece of work. In the book, They Say I Say the art of inserting quotations is mentioned to be one of the highest mistakes made by writers. Many insert a quote that has no frame of introduction or background information which is considered a “hit and run quote.” Readers need to be able to comprehend not only the writings, but the background information and quotes from another author writing in order to have the whole work cohesive. Dire necessity for the writer is to go back to the initial text and truly understand the background from which they are quoting to make sure their audience understands the quote and why

Dennis P. Kimbo once said, “Life is 10% what happens to us and 90% how we react to it.” Despite the numerous obstacles of life, people can choose how they react. Today, many people are faced with the obstacle of life threatening diseases. By some diseases being incurable, the cloud of only having so much longer to live hangs over them. As a result, some may choose the option of euthanasia if it is available. In the contrasting pieces of writing, Kara Tippetts use of ethos about euthanasia is more convincing than Brittany Maynard use of logos.

The separation of church and state is an ongoing debate that effects everyone, even if you are not aware of it. There are many arguments to this debate, and both sides are heavily supported. I will be analyzing two sources that support the separation of church and state but used two different forms of rhetoric to support the separation.

In the online article found on the CNN website titled, “U.S gun violence: The story in charts and graphs” the article provides the readers with multiple graphs from bar graphs to pie charts. The graph I will be looking at critically is titled “Firearm background checks by months since 2012.” It’s important to note that this article was written in December of 2015. For this reason, the graph stops on December 2015. Before providing the graph to its readers the author states that the year of 2015 was “was a record year for background checks on guns. Some have pointed out the requests for background checks have gone up after mass shootings, the idea being that shootings cause people to worry about their safety and buy a gun to protect themselves.”

When you are committed into accomplishing something, especially if it’s something that is challenging and something that you want to change, you have to put motivation in it to actually accomplish it. My purpose for creating this collage is to persuade people to motivate themselves when they are going through the process of a diet or working out. Without motivation, the work you're putting in your workout or diet is worthless to you. Motivate yourself to boost your confidence which will make you feel great!

A life coach , and counselor , Laura trice, in her Ted Talk, “Remember to Say Thank You” Advocates that individuals should “Praise each other” in order to create more self confidence and create less neglection. Trice uses the combination such as the use of theoretical questions, anaphora, personal stories, in order to help convey her message with the use of a tranquil and very optimistic tone to help inspire others to learn to praise one another.

The speech I am analyzing was given by Jon Bowers, a UPS driving and delivery trainer, in Atlanta Georgia in July 2017. Bowers was giving a motivational speech on why we should aim for perfection and not fear failure. He was giving this speech to an audience of listeners at a TED convention. The audience appears to be composed of a wide variety of age groups from multiple different backgrounds. The audience likely already had interest in the subject matter as they chose to attend speech knowing what it was about. The audience is rather large and likely contains several hundred people. The target audience is unclear as the topic is so broad that it can apply to basically anyone.
