The American flag represents all of what has the country been through, including wars and controversy, of how the United States was created and protected. This symbol is the major part of today’s society where almost everywhere in a major event, we pledge allegiance to the flag as a sign of respect for all those who have lost their lives for their love of the country. This then follows into the constitution that defines what does it means to be an American and the culture around it. The constitution then grants all American citizens specific rights where you might not find on other countries including freedom of speech and religion. For example, in North Korea, this is definitely not the case where you see everyone believing and thinking of
The American Flag means a lot to many different people. It could mean the liberty of living freely without the government interfering, the chance of opportunities not given in other countries, even the ability to practice their traditions and religions freely. But, what the American Flag means to me is the opportunity at having a bright future, hard work, and freedom. In America every person has the resources available to them, using them wisely gives everyone a chance at a bright future. America is a nation that was built on hard work and continues to thrive off of it to continue and progress and improve. Through the hard work and dreams of a bright future people continue to use their freedoms to achieve success. The American Flag clearly
Every individual part of our flag represents something different, including the colors, but you should be aware of our history first. Although, the origin of our national flag is very simple. The red and white stripes represent our original 13 colonies and our stars represent the 50 states in america. The color red in our flag symbolizes great courages in the face of danger, especially in battle. The color
The American flag not only stands for pride, freedom, and strength but the colors on the flag have a meaning behind them that all Americans should understand. In a description of the flag on a website dedicated solely to the Flag of the United States of America is states "The colors of the pales (the vertical stripes) are those used in the flag of the United States of America; White signifies purity and innocence, Red, hardiness & valour, and Blue, the color of the Chief (the broad band above the stripes) signifies vigilance, perseverance & justice" (US Flag 2005). The flag was not just thrown together to represent the country but also have a true meaning behind them. The stars and stripes on the flag have both an exact meaning but also have the meaning of
America is supportive of the right of beliefs in Americans not to denounce or illegalize. The flag does not represent every American's point of view. “Congress must defend the right of all Americans to express their views about their government, however hateful, or spiteful or disrespectful may be.” (Babington 2) Congress has roles within the government to abide by, based on important documents of America. Congress has to allow and respect people to express things as they
What does the American Flag means to me. Well it mean justices, pride, freedom. The American Flag is also a representation of the many lives that where lost in the line of duty especially our American soldiers men and women alike. It also represents joy of being free, strength to endure and the ability to keep striving the American Flag was always taught that one nation for which it stands, but in spite of all we still have hope in this great country where we live as I stand and watch the American Flag fly high over the school yards and different business it gives me great joy and pleasure to think about what our country has endured as a nation and how our military men and women police officer and fire fighters have laid down their lives, so our great American Flag will always in my heart be the strength of the united nation today.
Hi there. I just want to talk about how the USA flag makes me feel and what it is about. This might seem boring to you. But hold on for a fun ride.
The History- For more than 200 years, the American Flag has been a symbol of freedom to all United States citizens because of all of our ancestors we have a symbol of freedom for our country. On January 1, 1776, the Continental Army was laying siege to Boston which had been taken over by the British Army. George Washington ordered the Grand Union flag hoisted above his camp at Prospect Hill. This flag that they had at the time was between the British and the Americans with the 13 red and white alternate stripes with the British Union Jack in the upper left hand corner. The flag that was on top of Prospect Hill would be one of many flags to be named the American Flag.
A "symbol of our country" means nothing. As someone who took an oath to defend our country (you know the oath) and protect the US constitution of the USA, I see a lot of rhetoric similar to yours used to criminalize flag burning and it is completely unfounded. Burning the US flag is a 1st amendment right of any citizen that feels distressed with where our country and our government is headed. The American flag is not only a symbol of freedom, but it is also a symbol of corruption, slavery hypocrisy and tyranny. What it boils down to are the actions of the people of this country and our leaders; that's what makes this country great! It is definitely not a piece of fabric. We as Americans should take more offense to the fact that our country
IT'S NOT FAIR! … or is it? Whether you agree with the outcome of Texas v. Johnson, American Flag Stands for Tolerance, or The Lottery the final ruling shows no discriminate difference about who's involved. Many people feel the outcome should be different based on personal feelings or closeness to the situation.
What the United States flag means to me is freedom. Freedom of rights. Freedom of speech. But that’s not what it all really means. It means fortitude for those who lose their lives in battle. I respect the flag. What the flag means to me is that I know that there are people out there, Seals, Police force, Army, Marines, and all others fighting to keep us safe here in the U.S. The flag to me symbolises our freedom. And i respect that. How I think of the flag is the way I think of a baby. You must care for it. And also NEVER drop it. Our flag is something that should be respected more, and cared for. People should look at the flag whenever they see it, and think of the people who are in Iran and Iraq, and all over the world fighting.
To me the american flag represents our country and that everyone should be treated with fairness. I also feel that people should be able to say what they want about the flag or use it however they want. Because solders have fought for our rights to choose if we would like to stand or sit. I think that people have their own beliefs on what the flag actually means or represents.
My great uncle was a Marine and my great grandfather was in the Army during WWII. They both served their country and welcomed that flag every single day. They felt the Americans flag characterizes freedom, pride, and fairness. Their flag as well as others stands for freedom because of the many lives that were lost throughout history so we could become the country that we are now. The American flag stands for pride for the reason of many American soldiers’ men and women who lost their lives for us. This flag stands for justice since in the United States no matter what crimes we do we have the right to a reasonable
The American flag represents multiple forms from innocence and purity, while many can associate it to be signifying vigilance and justice. It stands greatly to symbolize America of all the hardships, withstanding through the past and present that would reflect to a certain degree. However, it comes to a point in which people have vouched in different intentions on the American Flag and verbally desecrate the flag as it varies upon their way for freedom of speech. The people who do in a way desecrate the flag must raise their own opinion that can very controversial to others, but not to themselves. Although it’s very dependent on the individual and their reason of why they would want to destroy the flag as to justify them having a good reason
The American flag means so many things to me. It represents that our country has strength, power and freedom. We are free land and can go anywhere and no be judge. We can thank our Army, Military, Air Force, etc. We are very blessed and privileged because other counties can even go out of their houses without getting shot. We live in a country that is Home of the Brave.
Today the American Flag flies all over the nation. Heroes have died for it and citizens have advanced it. It has brought liberty and prosperity to the American people and it embodies patriotism. It is not the Flag of a reigning family or royal house, but of 319 million free people, from every racial background, unified into one nation (USA
