WWII was a mess of violence, driven by raging hatred. It was started by a man with no respect for many races (Slavs, Gypsies, and Jews), which were “inferior” to the Aryan Race. He decided that he wanted to deal with it by exterminating all the races he saw as “life unworthy of life”. These horrible ideas led to a war, which was very hard for very many people.
World War II lasted 6 years, from September first 1939 to September second 1945. It started when Germany attempted to attack Poland, and France and the UK declared war on Nazi Germany. The “Axis Powers” were Germany, Japan, and Italy. By 1945, almost every country in the entire world had declared war on them. The main “Allied Powers” were France and the UK, but Russia was also a huge

The main Allies leaders were Joseph Stalin (Soviet Union), Franklin D. Roosevelt (United States), Winston Churchill (United Kingdom), Charles de Gaulle (France), and Chiang Kai-Shek (China).
The Holocaust was the scariest part of World War II. It involved the murder of many people (over 11 million people). Nazi Germany had constructed about 42,500 concentration facilities throughout Europe. Many families were torn apart, and only lived in closed off areas, which were called ghettos. It involved very scary things that hurt many people. There was little food in ghettos. People often had to smuggle food so they could have enough to get by. No outside information was allowed inside. Many people were taken to concentration camps and death camps. Some people refused to go, which was called ghetto uplifting.
Suddenly, the Axis halted when Japan lost the Battle of Midway and German defeat on the Battle of Stalingrad. Allies invaded Italy, which ended with Italian surrender. Soviet Union invaded Germany and its allies. Japan was suffering in south central China and Burma. The Allies destroyed Japan’s navy and captured Western Pacific islands. The war in Europe ended with an invasion of Germany by the Western Allies and the Soviet Union. There was also the capture of Berlin by the Soviet Troops. There was a German unconditional surrender on 8 May 1945. After the Potsdam Declaration on 26 July 1945,

British, American, and Canadian forces landed along a 50 mile stretch of water near the coast of France. D-Day was one of the biggest amphibious assaults in time. The Allies created a deception campaign used to confuse Germany about where they would attack. These deceptions lead to Germany thinking that the Allies were going to attack between Britain and France, or possibly Norway.
Operation Olympic was a planned operation in Operation Downfall, in the pacific war against southern Japan (city of Kyushu) after Germany had surrendered. There were planned to be 42 aircraft carriers, 24 battleships, and 400 destroyers and destroyer escorts. None of these were completed due to Japan’s geography, which made it obvious to the Japanese military, and they switched their defense plans to defend the areas that were going to be attacked.
There are very unusual and unique things about the leaders in World War II. For instance, Franklin Roosevelt served three terms as president (twelve years). Adolf Hitler was Jewish and promoted many countries to take in Jewish refugees. Joseph Stalin changed his last name to Stalin, which means “Man of Steel”. In order to make the Soviet Union military stronger, Stalin experimented with half-human, half-chimpanzee hybrids, which were thought to be much stronger than humans, less complaining than a human would give with pain, and no thought of free time
This day is now known as D-Day, but was previously codenamed Operation Overlord (Phillips). The Allied Forces fighting World War II were losing, and Operation Overlord was their solution to winning the war. In the largest land, sea, and air invasion ever, Britain, Canada, and the United States invaded Normandy, France, which was occupied by Germany at that time (History.com Staff). Under the control of the Supreme Allied Commander for the operation, General Dwight D. Eisenhower, the United States and British navies built their fleets up to 7,000 ships and 12,000 aircraft (History.com Staff). In the weeks prior to the invasion, the United States deceived the Germans. The Germans were led to believe that an attack was planned for a different area in France. The stage was set for the. Early in the morning on June 6, Allied air attacks destroyed communication and supply routes inside France, along with bridges and canals that were near the Normandy beaches. Beginning at 6:30 a.m., more than 23,000 airborne troops and 155,000 amphibious troops landed on the five beaches, codenamed Gold, Juno, Sword, Omaha, and Utah. Unfortunately some ships sank and men died before reaching the shore due to big waves and strong currents in the ocean. The landings at Gold, Juno, Sword, and Utah beaches went well, but the ships at Omaha beach were launched too far from shore, so many sank before reaching the shore,
D-Day played a large part in the Allied victory of World War II. D-Day, also known as Operation Overlord, started June 6, 1944 and ended June 11th. It was when Canadian, British, and American ships attacked five beaches in Normandy, France. The beaches were heavily guarded and armed with machine guns and soldiers. There was a very long fight but after more than fifteen thousand casualties, the Allies took over the beaches. It was said that it was the
D-Day, formally known as Operation Overlord, was one of the many monumental battles of World War 2 (The Reader’s Digest 298). It was led by American general Dwight Eisenhower, who was appointed the commander of the American Allied forces in 1944 (“D-Day”), In order to trick the Germans, the Allies had to put many plans into place before Operation Overlord could actually happen. Before the initial attack on the beaches of Normandy took place, the Allies had many plans to fool the Germans. They took war ships, tied balloons to the back of the ship, and sailed up the coast to another side of France. Trailing the
prohibited the export of steel, scrap iron, and aviation fuel to Japan. When Japan started invading their neighbors, the U.S. demanded they withdraw, but would have settled for an agreement of not taking any more land, because they were opposed to becoming over-involved. Japan secretly set November 29, 1941, apart as the last day they would accept any settlement with America without war. The Japanese were devising a plan for invading and conquering the Pacific, and they saw their biggest threat being the American naval base, Pearl Harbor. Therefore, they devised the plan “Operation Hawaii”. The Japanese predicted the U.S. would declare war following the attack, but the Japanese grossly underestimated the power and impact America would bring into the war (“Attack”).
World War II was a terrible time for everyone. Adolf Hitler, from Germany, gathered his warriors and started terrorizing the rest of the world. There were two sides in the war; the Axis powers and the Allies. The three main Axis powers were Germany, Italy, and Japan while the three main Allies were the U.S., Britain, and France. People were being tortured a lot during this war. One of the worst punishments was the extermination camps.
World War II was our last major war that had so many countries fighting each other just because one man wanted to create what he believe was a superior race and had killed millions to try to achieve his goal. This war had lasted six long years had cost millions of lives before this war was over. There was over thirty countries that were involved in the war. World War II had started in 1939 when Germany had invaded Poland and within a week of the invasion six other countries had join the war. After Germany had invaded Poland the U.S. had declared its neutrality and had also created a patrol around the Western Hemisphere. Germany had kept on invading country after country within months after they had invaded Poland. Within a year of war Germany,
In addition to the air bombing that took place, the Allies also had ground forces within the Continent. Starting with the the attack on June 6, 1944 named Operation Overlord, the Allies began to make headway in regaining territory occupied by German forces. Operation Overlord, commonly referred to as D-Day, was a joint effort with both British and American forces that looked to take the beaches in Normandy France. Though this campaign resulted in a large casualty count, the Allies were able to retain the beaches, setting the stage for even greater numbers of land forces to enter into the European theater.
D-Day was one of the largest amphibious invasions in history(History.com). While preparation for the operation was extensive, it resulted in the liberation of France (from the Germans), which later resulted “Allies” winning the Battle of Normandy and World War II (History.com). Now D-Day can be broken down into four main components: the planning of the invasion, the weather conditions, the Atlantic Wall, and the execution/success. There is no doubt that D-Day was integral to the Allies’ victory in World War II, for even an article written by History.com says “The Normandy landings have been called the beginning of the end of war in Europe.” (History.com). To better understand the turning point of the World War II, it
World War II was a war that affected the entire world. It was fought from 1939 to 1945. The war was fought between the Axis and Allied Powers. The Axis Powers consisted of Nazi Germany, Japan, and Italy. The Allied Powers consisted of the Soviet Union, Untied States, and the United Kingdom. Millions of lives were taken because of the chaotic fighting in World War II. What lead to the eventual fall and defeat of Nazi Germany? What sparked the beginning of the end of World War II? The Allied Forces’ invasions of Normandy, France, also known as D-Day, lead to defeat of Nazi Germany and the end of World War II.
D-Day was the day the allies started the journey to the end the war in Europe. The Operation was called, “Operation Overlord.” 156,000 men were to be used in storming the beaches of Normandy. 11,590 planes and 6,939 boats were used in the amphibious landing known as Operation Neptune. Britain and Canadian forces had three beaches to take. Code named
First, conflicts in Europe informed the US, the United Kingdom, Canada, and a smaller amount of troops in Australia, Belgium, Czechoslovakia, France, Greece, New Zealand, Norway, and Poland to plan a surprise invasion on the Nazis otherwise known as D-day. At the time, Russia had fallen and Germany had the power to take over, so operations to stop the overpowered Nazis came into place. These counties were to plan a surprise invasion known as operation “torch” in French North Africa. Although Hitler was expecting an assault in Northwestern Europe in the Spring of 1942 the Allied troops knew that a successful invasion was key to winning the war. ”You are about to embark on the great crusade toward which we have striven these many months. The eyes of the world are upon you. I have full confidence in your courage, devotion to duty and skill in battle.” (General Eisenhower 1). Furthermore, The Allied troops used thousands of resources such as aircraft and landing crafts to

World War II was the most brutal war in human history. It changed the world between 1939- 1945. Never before has there been so many innocent people impacted by the horrors of warfare. In nearly every European country, people felt the im-pact of this war. (Hynson p4) the main reason for WWII goes back to the end of WWI. Germany, Italy, and Japan didn’t seem to like how France, Britain, and the U.S. had treated them. On September 1, 1939, the German army invaded Poland. Two days later, Britain and France declared war on Germany. This spark soon spread to American waters when the Japanese attacked the American Pacific fleet located in Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. It blew a spark and American declared war on Germany the follow-ing day. The United States emerged from war eventually and had an advantage against their rivals. They grew into a global power. Eastern Europe fell under the control of the Soviet Un-ion. (Hynson p 4-7)Germans were enjoined to be polite and friendly to foreign visitors. The Jewishness from the begin-ning was very noticeable. The way the Nazis treated them was very horrid, certain people weren’t considered to be murdered, it meant something more meaningful. The kids that had cerebral polio were just as a blank wall in the eyes of the Nazis.
WW2, probably one of the most significant wars that have commenced in human history. Many lost their lives and. Adolf Hitler, the leader of Nazi Germany from 1934 to 1945. He initiated World War II and oversaw fascist policies that resulted in millions of death. Hitler pledged civil peace, crazy economic policies, and the repairing of pride, unity and dignity. He controlled many countries, proving to be a fearless enemy. These events took place after a Great depression. German had to pay huge debt for over 30 billion dollars for what they had caused during WW1. Job cuts were going critical, and people used their money as fuel for fires. Germany had taken its toll and they also had enough. Adolf Hitler came prepared with a plan, not a very good one, but one he thought would bring Germany to the top. But what lead up to his rise in power. What were his strengths? What were the conditions of Germany and Europe and to what extent did these conditions
The causes of WWII are too numerous and complex to be generalized. The following is said to be one of the main causes.
