In “Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde”, written by Robert Louis Stevenson in the late 19th century, the English society was in the Victorian Era. People of the Victorian Era were very interested in Darwin's theory of evolution and Stevenson took it as leverage. Not every social class was educated, so Stevenson went aiming for the higher class people of society. Jekyll would be in the same social class as the readers, whereas Hyde would be unknown to these people since he part of the lower class.

In the story of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, he is one person with two personalities, one good side and one evil side. Dr. Jekyll believes there is good and bad in everyone and made a potion to get rid of the bad personality. Unfortunately it got out of control and he was unable to controls the evil side.
In the beginning of the story there a lot of physical differences between Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. They are actually almost depicted as completely opposite people. People in the community look at these two like they are polar opposites. Which they are in the story they have almost nothing in common.
Comparing and contrasting Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is pretty easy to do because it is one man with two different lives. Both are totally different, from what they do in public and in their private life, what they look like physically and how they both react mentally. Both personalities have different life motivations, one wants to be successful in his job and the other wants to murder. The contrast between the two personalities is polar opposite of one another which makes comparing and contrasting the two relatively easy.
Later in the story, Mr. Utterson breaks into Dr. Jekyll's home where they find Mr. Hyde dead after taking his own life to poison. Through various letters, Mr. Utterson figures out the double and terrifying life of his dear friend—Dr. Jekyll.

Many people believe that a person has two distinct sides to them, a good and a bad. Each side could be dangerous or endangered on its own, as they are pure evil and pure good. This idea of evil and duality of man is explored in the novella, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, by Robert Louis Stevenson. Dr. Jekyll splits himself into an absolute good side and an absolute evil side. When Dr. Jekyll split himself into pure bad and good, he eliminated all good qualities in his evil self and all evil qualities in his good self, nothing was spared. Mr Hyde repeatedly proves that he is pure evil by committing evil acts without remorse, carrying out brutal acts of violence and does not see a need for justice to be served.

Harry is seen as the light and Voldemort as the dark. A character from the movie, Sirius Black, says, “We’ve all got both light and dark inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on. That’s who we really are.” A girl named Courtney Davidson was a former hazer in her high school, but later on regretted and was remorseful for her acts. In the novel The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Jekyll is a natural balance of good and evil, but Hyde is Jekyll’s completely ruthless alter ego. The knowledge I have on these two individuals, Courtney Davidson and Dr. Jekyll, would lead me to believe that yes they both would agree with Sirius Black’s quote.
