Satire plays a huge role in shaping the behavior in the audience. Satire keeps the working entertaining more most readers. Everthing doesnt have to neccesarily be serious. Satire is something that most definitely needs to be altered at given times. The Main message can most definetly be distorted if the audience is stuck on the humor and not the message. Thats why the satire has to tie in with the message so the reader can interpret and know what is going on. Also its easy to get caught up in the satire and not the message. For example the movie "Ride along" starring Ice cube and kevin hart is a perfect example of satire. Ice cube plays a cop and kevin hart plays the man who is marying ice cubes sister. in the movie kevin hart tries to get
Satire gives the novel life, just as an engine would give a car life. “When he failed to find the steering wheel, he moved over six inches, and searched again...He concluded that somebody had stolen it. This angered him as he passed out. He was in the back seat of his car, which was why he couldn’t find the steering wheel” (Vonnegut 60). Satire lightens the story and provides comic relief to the readers.
Satire is a way of making a serious subject talked about without all of the seriousness that goes along with it. It is used to poke fun at serious topics, for example, politics by using exaggeration and parody. In a show like The Simpsons, satire is used in every episode and even though it is meant to be light to make viewers laugh, it is somewhat educational because they are using real-life situations in the show. An article “Beyond a joke: Teaching Satire Using The Simpsons” by Jan Doyle said “Rather than making our classrooms more lounge-roomish, The Simpsons is a powerful tool for teaching the value of social comment, irony and an insight into expressive potential of satire (Doyle, 1999)”. This quote shows that even though the show is meant for entertaining the public, it is also used to inform people as well about real life. I believe that the satirical aspect of the show being used to inform viewers would only be very effective for adolescents because when I was a young child, I did not fully understand what was the reason for some of the things that were being shown on that TV show because being a child, you are not as aware of what is going on in the media because children usually do not watch the news.
The dictionary definition of satire is the use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people's stupidity or vices. Particularly, in the context of contemporary politics or other topical issues. If one were to examine contemporary culture today they would notice that it is becoming more and more satirized. One could argue this by turning on any program and listening for hidden messages alluding to some cause or political reference. Satire appears in many forms and may be used to shock the reader or targets into changing their behavior.

To the intelligent viewer, this can be very effective. They can become engaged in an entertaining fashion but take the serious message from the satire. To the not so intelligent viewer, this may look like a big joke, which can take away from the effectiveness of the message, even if it brings ratings due to the entertainment value.
Satire walks a fine line between funny and not. If the audience does not understand the true intentions of a satirical film then it is often seen as being offensive. Satire is designed to bring attention to serious issues by making fun of them. Due to the nature of subjects often broached in satirical films people often mistake them for supporting the very ideals they are trying to bring attention to. This can be seen in Mel Brooks Blazing Saddles as the characters will often say very offensive things and if one did not understand that it was all meant to be taken with a few grains of salt then they would interpret the movie as being extremely offensive.
Satire is effective because it conveys information in such an extreme way that people are drawn in and forced to pay attention to the underlying issue. By making it interesting and injecting humor, it is more likely that people will be interested in the topic
Satire is an indispensable part of human life, interaction, and communication. Satire is humor based on fantasy with the intention to attack a social issue. This ludicrous type of amusement gives humorists permission to openly voice their criticisms through their writing. The irony behind this is interesting, however, because the readers, by default, allow writers to share their opinions; but if the readers are offended by the interests and opinions published by the authors, they are quick to take it personally and/or discuss the negative morals that are displayed.

According to Dr. Wheeler at the Carson-Newman University, satire can be described as a “distorted reflection of society” whereby the author paints a view of the concept or atmosphere he is criticizing, but adds an element of tone to amplify the concept’s flaws and may also come up with solutions for the bettering of it. When using satire, the author’s purpose is most often to share how negatively he thinks of the concept in hopes that others may agree and take action in it’s bettering.
