Peter, one of the most important disciples in the Gospels of Matthew and Mark, is portrayed as Jesus’ acquaintance and pupil; as well as one of Jesus’ most important followers. Both of the Gospels seem to portray Peter in similar ways, yet they draw different images of the disciple. In the Gospel of Matthew, Peter has a much larger appearance in the teachings of Jesus and becomes more significant to Jesus throughout the Christian doctrine. However, in Mark, the author portrays Peter as a much lesser character in the life of Jesus and even leaves Peter out of some of the stories till the end of the book. Each Gospel portrays a slightly different picture of Peter’s personality and role.
Peter The Great should be granted the title of "Most Absolute Monarch" because he created a strong navy, recognized his army according to Western standards, secularized schools, administrative and territorial divisions of the country. Peter focused on the development of science and recruited several experts to educate his people about technological advancements. He concentrated on developing commerce and industry and created a gentrified bourgeoisie population. Mirroring Western culture, he modernized the Russian alphabet, introduced the Julian calendar, and established the first Russian newspaper. Peter was a far-sighted and skillful diplomat who abolished Russia's archaic form of government and appointed a viable
Prior to Peter taking reign, the Russian society was in a rough condition. The economy was failing and the country's standing army was extremely weak. Russia was also in the midst of a war against the Ottoman Turkish Empire, with a goal to secure a Russian port on the northern coast of the Black Sea. Peter the Great ruled over Russia from 1682-1752.He tried to form warm water ports so they had the ability to trade in the in the winter. He also tried to improve Russia and modernize the culture. As an effect of these things, Peter the Great had an overall positive impact on Russia during his rule.
Peter declared war on Sweden in August 1700 with the most important aim of expansion and regaining lost territories. He had also hoped to weaken the power and might of the Swedish empire and in doing this, create a more powerful and prestigious image for Russia as he has tried to do throughout his reign so far.
1. Select one teaching of Jesus from one of the following Bible verses: Matthew 5:21-24, Matthew 5:43-48, Matthew 6:19-24, Matthew 7:15-23, Luke 15:1-32, John 13:1-17 & 34-35, John 15:1-11. Answer the following questions:
2. John follows Jesus to the trial and the cross. Of all the disciples Matthew seems to be the oldest. It is the youngest—John—in his early 20’s that
the people’” but many others disagreed . They felt that he was manipulating the family. This only added to the discontent and secrecy surrounding the family. Many people did not like how isolated the family was, not only from everyday Russians, but also the aristocracy. This made Nicholas an incapable leader because he separated himself to a large extent from Russian society. His shyness added to the list of reasons why he was a bad leader for Russia which lead to the end of the Old Regime.
Jesus performs many miracles throughout the Gospels. Comparing how he presents these wonders among different books can help display the author’s themes and goals in these Gospels. Jesus’ first miracle, turning water into wine, is only mentioned in the book of John. This story is called “The Wedding at Cana” (John 2:1-12). Jesus and his disciples attend a wedding and Jesus’ mother is concerned that there is no wine left. He asks the servants to fill their jars with water, but when the steward tasted the water it had become wine. Another interesting miracle story is Jesus walking on water (Mark 6:45-52). In this story, Jesus’ disciples leave on a boat, while he stays back to pray. He then walks on water towards their boat, and the disciples were afraid when they saw him. Each of these stories involve water and display Jesus’ great power, but their differences are even more significant.
Course paper for History of Russia Done by : Roderik Sidor , student of second semester at MGIMO University Topic : Peter the Great Summary of course paper : 1. Introduction, Times before Peter the Great, Peter the Great 2.Peter's reforms Introduction: I chose this topic because I found it very interesting at the first place since I like reading about important people in the world and history. After a small research and with basic knowledge of history I found out that Peter the Great ( also known as Peter 1. or Pyotr Alexeyevich was very significant and important person in Russian history as itself so I hope that I will manage to cover everything important. I think that Peter the Great should be well known for people studying in Russia and , hopefully I will get acquainted with this significant figure by writing this paper.
Today in the modern society, the struggles that teenagers experience is whether or not they should wear the cherry or purple lip-gloss to “that” party everyone is going to attend or maybe their cell phone is broken and they simply cannot live without checking what food their friends are eating for dinner. Yet, these struggles seem insignificant when compared to the problems children throughout Russia experienced after the Russian Revolution. During this time period, surviving was a daily struggle for the bezprizorni, orphaned children abandoned on the streets of Russia with little to no food, shelter, and warmth. Many of these individuals looked towards their leaders for guidance and protection during these times of adversity. An example of
Jesus also performed a miracle of feeding four-thousand (Matthew 15: 32, Mark 8: 1), which is much like the miracle of Jesus feeding the five-thousand. There were many more astonishing acts performed by the wondrous miracle worker, Jesus. The coin in the fish’s mouth, walking on the water, and raising of Lazarus from the dead, are just a minute amount, out of approximately thirty-six. The miracle of Jesus feeding the five-thousand is just one of the many.
Second Peter Portrays Jesus Christ as Our Strength. This letter was a warning to the church
means “universal”. The Roman Catholic Church believes that the Pope is the Successor of Peter, who they believe was the first Pope, Bishop of Rome. The Roman Catholic Church as proof of this claim points to Matthews 16:17-19 where Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-Jona… upon this rock I will build my Church...”
When Jesus first called him to be his disciple, he dropped all his fishing gear and followed Jesus, without a doubt. What makes Saint Peter stand out is the fact that he crucified himself of shame and regret because he denied Jesus three times, just as Jesus had predicted. Peter is considered by the Roman Catholic church to be the first of the unbroken chain of popes. He is also known as the leader of the twelve disciples.
The Bible tells us that Peter was therefore kept in prison, but constant prayer was offered to God for him by the church. That night Peter was sleeping, bound with two chains between two soldiers; and the guards before the door were keeping the prison but God intervened through an angel and released him from the prison. (Acts 12:1-17). Again we read that Paul and Silas were kept in prison but they began to pray and to praise God. An angel was sent by God to interrupt the devil’s plan and released them from prison (Acts 16:16-40). This year, God will frustrate every plan of the devil to imprison your destiny. God is set to supernaturally respond to that which concerns you this season.
