People may seem nice on the surface, but hide agenda in their heart

Depending on any activity, competition or simply playing games for fun, people may act differently whether it is it peaceful or violent. When it comes to these situations, people will have to make choices to conclude a problem but we may never know what the other player can turn out to be. In the Most Dangerous Game by Richard Connell, General Zaroff seemed as a caring man who loves playing “games” with his visitors. However as the story progresses, he is truly a manipulative, tortures and a self centered man.

Firstly we see General Zaroff as a cruel man by manipulating his guests. “Come he said, we shouldn’t be chatting here. We can talk later. Now you want clothes, food, rest. You shall have …show more content…

He makes his guest play his game or else there will be some serious consequences. “Tonight, we will hunt you and I” (pg9). When General Zaroff said this, he is forcing Mr. Rainsford to play his game, no matter what. Mr. Rainsford try to back out but General Zaroff would not allow it to happen; he does not want anyone to walk out without playing his game. Another example why he is a tortures man is because he does not want to win to fast. “The General was playing with him; the general was saving him for another day’s sport”. With that saying, the General saw where Rainsford hid, but he didn’t want to kill him yet because it would have been too easy. It seemed like General Zaroff wanted to suffer Rainsford until the last day of the games. And finally he is a tortures man because he treats humans like nothing; he does not care about them. “It’s a game you see, I suggest to one of them that we go hunting…I am to follow, armed only with a pistol…if I didn’t him, he loses”(pg4) This saying, it seems that General Zaroff treated them as his own entertainment.
