In the book Hidden Figures written by Margot Lee Shetterly, Katherine Johnson is one of the main characters. Known as a human computer working for NASA. Katherine is a very smart woman who graduated from college when she was 18 years old and when she was 10 years old she attended high school. She is one of the first African Americans to work for NASA. She would work on some of the hardest calculations and would still find ways to solve them. She was a very hard worker but did not get credit for what she did because she is African American, she made history.
She was born in white Sulphur Spring, West Virginia. Goble went to west virginia state college, she became immersed in the math program. Katherine loved to count, counted number of steps, steps into the church, forks, plates, and even bowls when she would wash dishes. Her father knew that his little girl would have a chance to meet her goal. She went to High school at ten years old, graduated at fourteen and started college at fifteen and took classes to be a mathematician. She graduated from college at eighteen. Katherine got married and had children, became a teacher after being a stay at home mom and went to college. She but went back to teach because her husband got sick. June 1953 Katherine was hired at NASA, she figured out paths for space craft to go around earth and land on the moon. For the math katherine was able to do, it helped send astronauts to the moon and back and still be safe. Even after NASA began using electronic computers, John Glenn requested that she personally recheck the calculations. Katherine continued working for NASA until 1986 combining her computer skills and her math skills. Without Mrs. Gobles amazing math skills astronauts would not be able to come back to earth, because they would burn and die because they would not have
Mary Jackson was an African American mathematician who worked for NASA as an aerospace engineer. She helped launch the space program and worked for women’s working rights. This is the story of the life of Mary Jackson.
Mary Jackson was born April 9, 1921, Hampton, Virginia, U.S.A. She was a math genius and an aerospace engineer. most importantly she was the first African American female engineer to work and be the first flight engineers for NASA.
Hidden Figures, an extraordinary film that shines light on women existence and their intelligence. The women, Katherine Johnson, Mary Jackson, Dorothy Vaughan used the power of their intelligence to decipher complex math calculations, computer language to build rockets that other could not see. Throughout the movie racial descrepancies were vividly clear, but these eager women had something to stand for. They dared not let the words of bitterness deter them of their worth.
Who is Annie Easley? Maybe she was one of the four African Americans to work for NASA out of 2,500 employees. Or maybe she was a human computer, a mathematician, or a math technician? Who was Annie Easley?
Katherine Johnson was born August 26, 1918 and lived to be 99 years old. She was loved by many people including her spouse James Johnson and her later spouse James Goble. Also by her three girls Constance, Katherine, and Joylette Goble, and loved even more by her proud parents, Joylette and Joshua Coleman. She was one of three african americans to integrate to West Virginia’s School is something many people wanted to do but never did. She was so smart that she started High School when she was 13 and enrolled in college when she was only 18! She graduated with the “highest honors” in 1937. After that she took a job in teaching at a black public school in Virginia.
Hidden Figures is a 2016 film that recounts the story of three incredible black women in NASA history: Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson. The film largely sheds light on the experiences of these three women working as computers for NASA during 1960s segregated America. Public restrooms are separated between the whites and coloreds, the white male patriarchy dominates the field, and as always, racism is alive and well. During the film, the political unrest of the country is present and very much of conversation, and as these three women navigate their way throughout society with positions no one expects them to hold, they quite literally make history through their groundbreaking work, history
Katherine was hired as one of the women for the tedious and precise work of measuring and calculating the results of the wind tunnel test in 1935. During WW2, the NACA expanded this effect to include African-American women. They were so pleased by the women's results that they kept the women's computer work. By 1953, demands of the space research meant there were openings for African-American computer at Langley Research Center’s Guidance and Navigation Department and Katherine found her place to put her extraordinary mathematical skills to work. As a computer, she calculated to trajectory for Alan shepard the first American in space. Even after NASA began using electronic computers, John Glenn requested that she personally recheck the calculations
Have you ever read a book that had a lead character that sounded like a carbon copy of yourself? I have read a lot books with interesting characters throughout my middle school career. Out of all the characters I have read about, Jyn Erso from the novel Star Wars Rogue One is the character I identify with the most. We’re both stubborn, we’re both loyal, and we’re courageous.
Marguerite Johnson later known as Maya Angelou was born on April 4th, 1928 in St. Louis, Missouri. Marguerite Johnson was raised in St. Louis, Missouri as well as Stamps, Arkansas. Her time with her grandmother was seen as a good part of her life but when her father came back into her life, everything that once was fine became bad. Upon being released, Freeman, was murdered. There is speculation that he was murdered by Maya’s uncles.
Mary Ann Cotton was innocent in the serial killing of 21 plus people. This includes 8 of her children, 7 stepchildren, her mother, 3 husbands, 1 lover, and 1 friend. Mary Ann Cotton was convicted of using arsenic poisoning to kill her victims. Ms. Cotton was a young nurse with a lot of ambition. The case says that the murders began to happen when she married her first husband at the age of 20 in 1852. His name was William Mowbray. Mr.Mowbray had died of intestinal disorder, but the case against Mary Ann Cotton says she killed using arsenic. But there was no trace of arsenic in his blood system or toxicology level. This is false and uncertain that he was killed with arsenic if he died of intestinal disorder, they falsely convicted Mary Ann.

Although there are many celebrity speakers in this world, there is one that has really touched me on what she says. Her name is Diane Guerrero, she is a very beautiful lady, she is thirty years old and lives in Boston, Massachusetts.
As I read the assigned readings this week I wanted to understand Nancy Jaax before labeling her as a “heroic or irresponsible” figure. Her motivation and determination to be part of the Level 4 in order to help find a cure that would avert a tragedy to the human species seemed to be heroic but selfish. In my point of view, Jaax put herself before her husband, her children, and her own safety. The moment that she decided to join the research without taking into consideration her family and the danger that she would be exposing them by exposing herself to an uncontrolled virus, I depicted her as irresponsible. In a section of “Project Ebola”, a hint is given that due to Jaax being in a hurry to begin her first day in Level 4, led to her being
