The Introduction to Shakespeare's pay starts with the fault of one of the character. Lord Capulet sends his servant to post flyers for his party. Considering the servant’s status he does not know how to read or write. Common sense led this servant to ask for help, but he asked the wrong person. Capulet’s servant asked Romeo Montague, which broke his master’s rule of “no Montagues”
I will show understanding of the plot, character and themes and Shakesperes use of language and dramatic devices within the play.
William Shakespeare was born in Stratford-upon-Avon, a flourishing town in central England with a population of two-thousand at the time. He was born to Mary Arden, a local heiress, and John Shakespeare, a leather merchant and town bailiff, who both had been long-time residents of the town. While the exact date of his birth is unknown, it is estimated that Shakespeare’s birthdate is or was around the 23rd of April, 1564, because of a record of his baptization three days later; children were baptized as early as possible during this time, around three days after their birth. He had eight siblings: five younger brothers and sisters, named Gilbert, Richard, Edmund, Joan, and Ann, and three others that died during their births.
Shakespeare presents the complex family feud between the Montagues and the Capulets as the underlying ‘antagonist’ of the story, another major reason as to why the lovers didn’t prevail. This grudge is complex as the character’s actions in siding, supporting or in trying to pacify the feud makes the feud more complex. Some of Shakespeare’s greatest use of insults lend themselves to develop the dramatic technique of characterisation among the endorsers of the feud and while doing so, builds up the foreboding mood and suspenseful atmosphere of the feud. An exchange of insults between servants Sampson and Abraham such as do you bite your thumb at us, sir? would’ve united Elizabethan audiences together despite their distinctions among class. In the first act, Tybalt only
Among writers and historians, the lack of historical evidence about the life of William Shakespeare has been the main cause of much controversy. Many people doubt that if he was the author of such shocking and transcendental pieces of literature. As a result, the uncertainty that surrounds the authenticity of his persona has increased. Since his childhood, there is no record of Shakespeare attending primary or even university studies. Compared with many other poets and writers his literary training was scarce and his social position was not very favorable to access some kind of help. Many people tend to argue that a man with such a low academic level would be able to possess the rigorous legal, historical and mathematical knowledge that is
One of the strengths of good theater is its ability to mirror the problems and conditions shaping its time. In The Merchant of Venice, William Shakespeare reflects two important aspects of Elizabethan society: the corrupting influence of prosperity and the increasingly vengeful nature of Venetian justice. To address the former issue, Shakespeare downplays the importance of wealth by associating its involvement in romance with superficial and insubstantial advantages. He characterizes prosperity as a deceiving agent, citing its ability to introduce shallowness into a relationship. Shakespeare reasons that genuine romance depends on sacrifice and emotion, not wealth. The problem with justice is equally striking. In the play, justice is
Shakespeare's Approach Toward Modern Societal Flaws Shakespeare’s As You Like It coveys many societal issues that the modern world continues to face. The play reveals these societal flaws and how they affected the life of those living in the Elizabethan Era. Throughout this play we are presented with the issues within dominants institutions such as political, cultural and sexual, problems- while looking at the Elizabethan Era, transcendentalism and Gender roles, that we deal with in the modern world both similarly or perhaps slightly different.
Therefore, Edward De Vere is a strong contender s an alternative writer to Shakespearean work.
To start it off it is well known that Romeo is a montague. Therefore he knows there is a feud between his family and the Capulets. Then the Capulets plan a party and they send a servant to give the invitations. However the servant can’t read so the servant asks Romeo for help. Romeo then agrees to read the paper for the servant after which the servant

Is William Shakespeare really a Renaissance Man? I believe Shakespeare was a Renaissance man, he wrote many famous plays. I'm sure everyone has heard of Romeo and Juliet, a love story between two people who could never be together because of family issues, which was written by William Shakespeare. Shakespeare is considered a Renaissance Man because he was a talented writer, he was very knowledgeable which showed in his plays. Shakespeare did have a few disadvantages along the way. Many disagree that Shakespeare shouldn't be given the title as the Renaissance Man. People do not see his potential as a writer, because of his lacking background. Because Shakespeare’s school caught on fire, the school lost most of his records.
“To be, or to not be.” A famous quote from the play, “Hamlet”, written by William Shakespeare (poetryfoundation.org). A man who became one of the greatest playwright of the Elizabethan era and influenced the audience, actors, and individuals who continue to learn about his written work. The topic of Shakespeare being taught in schools has become controversial. In fact, 25,000 individuals from Alberta, Canada, reviewed the K-12 school curriculum and strongly believe Shakespeare shouldn’t be a required author (pressreader.com). However, the study of Shakespeare has become valuable to the literature programs in schools which shapes and challenges the students in influential ways. This can involve the literary techniques and language the readers are exposed to, the knowledge that comes with the studies, the culture it brings and the ability to connect with the stories. Shakespeare is still applicable in today's society and the lives of the students, which is why the teachings of his work is important in classrooms today.
It is thought that William Shakespeare was born on April 23, 1564 in Stratford-upon-Avon, United Kingdom, although no birthdates exist. Church records indicate that Shakespeare was baptized at Holy Trinity Church on April 26, 1564. From this information, scholars can conclude that he was born on or around April 23, 1564. On November 28, 1582, in Worcester, in Canterbury Province, when William was 18, he married Anne Hathaway, who was 26. As it turns out, Anne was pregnant with their first child, Susanna when they wed. She was born on May 26, 1583. Two years later twins Hamnet and judith were born. After the birth of the twins, there are seven years of William Shakespeare's life that are unaccounted for, no records exist. Scholars have named these the "lost years"
In the beginning of the play, Shakespeare introduces a character called Sly who is a beggar and then a Lord takes Sly after he passes out. When Sly wakes up they convince him that he is a rich Lord with lots of money and a wife. Also, Shakespeare is known for his iambic pentameter and he uses iambic pentameter when people of noble status are talking and when Sly thinks he’s noble he talks in iambic pentameter but when he doesn’t he talks normally. ”Am I a lord, and have I such a lady?/Or do I dream? Or have I dreamed till now?” (Ind.2.68-69). Another way Shakespeare makes fun of the class roles is he has Lucentio a rich man and his servant Tranio. The two of them disguised themselves and the servant Tranio disguises himself as Lucentio (his master) and Lucentio disguises himself as Cambio a school teacher which is a lower class than what he actually is. The irony is that everyone believes them because of the clothing they are
“The pay is built upon Hamlet’s hesitation over fulfilling the task of revenge that is assigned to him: but its text offers no reason or motives for these hesitations”
