Romeo and Juliet is known as a tragic spin of events involving two “star crossed” lovers whose actions result in many deaths. A question worth asking is: who is to blame for this tragedy? There are many characters that the blame could be thrown upon, a lot of the characters made fatal mistakes ending in the death of others, but one character who seems to be the most responsible is Friar Lawrence. Why Friar Lawrence? Friar lawrence is the character most to blame for the tragic events in Romeo and Juliet because, he married Romeo and Juliet, did not see the consequences as he should have, and gave Juliet the vile full of poison.

In act three, scene one, Mercutio and Romeo come across Tybalt, who starts provoking a fight. Romeo does not want to fight, so Mercutio steps up to him. Tybalt hurts Mercutio badly enough that Mercutio dies from the stab wound.

Everyone needs a loving family; one that is made up of people you cherish and get through everything with. Whether it be your ups or downs, they are there. Along the way, she has displayed signs of suicide that could have been prevented if her parents Capulet and Lady Capulet paid extra attention to her. Although other characters in Romeo and Juliet are part of the down fall of Romeo and Juliet, Capulet and Lady Capulet are most to blame because they neglected Juliet and don’t understand her.

Romeo and Juliet are from opposing families and are unlikely lovers. Their love is known to have a doomed outcome from the beginning, but their fate is not entirely uncontrollable. Although their families are sworn enemies and their love for each other is forbidden, Romeo’s and Juliet’s own reckless actions are source of their doom and fortune is not to blame. These reasons show that shakespeare is trying to show fate can’t be changed because these things that prevent Romeo and Juliet to be in love.
