The Friar was the one who came up with the idea to fake Juliet's death and gave her the potion. Instead of talking her out of a bad idea, he influences it. The Friar just wanted to make Juliet happy, and he already married her to Romeo. He knows that she will be unhappy if she marries Paris, so he tries to get her out of it. "Ah, Juliet, I already know thy grief; It strains me past the compass of my wits", said Friar (1073). The Friar couldn't do much, but he really cared about her so he would have given the best way he could to get out of the marriage. Right after Romeo is banished, Romeo believes that he is nothing and is worthless. The Friar starts to tell him everything he should be thankful for and the good about him. If the Friar was trying to hurt Romeo or Juliet he wouldn't try to help them so much to save their marriage and relationship. He always give caring responses to help them get through something. While he thought that it was a good idea to let Juliet fake her death she wrote a letter to Romeo, that friar was supposed to go give to Romeo because in act 5 scenes 2 it says that. “friar was unable to deliver the letter informing Romeo that Juliet that is not actually dead”. So the blame should mostly go to friar cause if he would of just sent the letter to Romeo than Romeo and Juliet would have go married and no one would have died and they live happily ever after.
