I can remember the first time ever stealing candy from my grandmother’s candy store. I grabbed a handful of green apple tootsie rolls, the tiny ones; my grandmother only charged two cents for. I had enough to last me all day at school at least I thought I did. The elution of having all of eight green apple tootsie rolls in the palm of my tiny hand excited me about the rest of the day. My grandmother would yell from her room, “hurry up and get ready before you miss breakfast at school” little did she know I was fully dressed and scurrying out the door so that I wouldn’t be caught with the candy. As I headed out the door yelling back,” bye grandma, love you” a guilty feeling rushed all over my body. I felt like a criminal who should be convicted for life for a heinous crime that I had committed. My grandparents owned and operated a successful candy store from their home. They sold everything from chips, candy bars, soda to homemade cheeseburgers, hot pockets, and doughnuts, which were my favorite. This wouldn’t be the last time I made off with snacks or food without asking even though I knew my grandmother would give me anything I asked for had I asked. Family reunion time was the best. We celebrated the life of our family each year in July rather we missed one another or not. Our gathering together to swap stories, play games and eat could be compared to a weekend at the state fair. I mainly appreciated this time because of the food. My grandmother was the cook of the
Being in a world full of billions of people with billions of different stories, never truly knowing who someone is, is a fearful and anxious thought. Among those billions of people are approximately 747,408 sex offenders, found in a 2013 survey done across America (Facts). How does it sound letting children out without an adult in a world like this with those kind of sick “people”? Why put the public in danger, instead of getting rid of the fear, all together and forever? Although there are many reasons sex offenders should be sentenced to death or face life in prison, here are three main points: they are likely to commit the crime again after being released, they ruin the child and family's lives, and the safety of the public is in danger. Being a sex offender isn’t an accident, so why treat such a serious offense like one?
My Aunt loved taking us places, she would take us to the mall to get coloring books and toys, and we would also go to the market to get food and to get my brother Bakugans which were popular at the time. She also got us strawberry ice cream, and took us to the park. The park got renovated while we were there so we got to see its transformation from a sad little playground to a giant wooden playscape that contained a ship, two seesaws, four metal swing sets, and a bike path.
Getting to hang with family. It’s difficult to get my whole family together but when it happens is one of the best things.
While I was a kid my family and I used to go on bike rides all the time to anywhere you could think of. We would go boating everyday in the summer. We would ski, wakeboard, go tubing and many more. Go tubing was one of the funniest memories I have boating because the thrill you get is unbeatable trying to hold on for dear life. Anothering thing we did as a family was go on vacation everywhere. The road trips were always fun because we would bring our dog turbo. The one trip that will never be forgotten is North Carolina. We go there every year with family friends and it will be a trip on go on with my kids.
My first memory is when I got to fly down to Atlanta, Georgia for the National 4-H Congress during Thanksgiving break. This was my first national 4-H event that I went to and it was really different from the regional and state events that I have attended. I got to meet so many people from all across the country and even Puerto Rico! It
If a person is under the age of eighteen years old, they should not be subjected to life in prison for the pure reason that they are not adults. A person is legally considered a child until they turn eighteen. A child is treated like a child in every way until they slip up and break the law, then that’s when everyone jumps to calling them adults. A child should not be sentenced as an adult simply because they are not an adult. By taking a look at Garinger, Lundstrom, Thompson, and Jenkins’ articles, it is clear to see that children should not be sentenced to life for many reasons.
Looking back I can see that the thing connected all of my great times were my friendships. I remember every Easter going down to the park and having fun in the egg hunt set up for the kids. My friend Kaleb was always there and we would have a blast finding as
In the articles “Juveniles Don’t Deserve Life Sentences” by Gail Garinger and “Greg Ousley Is Sorry For Killing His Parents. Is That Enough?”, by Scott Anderson, minors are sentenced to life without parole. In 2012 the United States Supreme Court abolished mandatory life without parole sentences, however, the Supreme Court should completely abolish these sentences.
Garinger in the article “Juveniles Don't Deserve Life Sentences” explains that the juvenile justice systems should lower the age at which children could be transferred to adult courts.Graninger supports her claim by first explaining how superpredators predicted juvenile crime rate. She then explains how the court have been giving juveniles bad punishments such as sentenced to life without parole.Lastly, the author explains how people often are still in the decision whether they think juveniles will change or not.Grainger's purpose is to persuade people into believing that teens can make mistakes do that they can change their mind whether a teen should be punished like a adult or not.The author writes in an informal tone for like if a judge is
Insanity and Murder A murderer is a murderer. There is no other excuse or way to excuse an ‘insane’ person who killed another human. An insane person can not get away with murder by not serving time in jail for any excuse. At the end of the day, it is murder and that is all it will ever be.
Trying to find memories is like looking for treasure. You look at the surface and see something mediocre, but you dig deep and find something cool, pretty, and meaningful. It took a while to think of a fond memory, but once I thought of some, it was hard to choose a favorite. Growing up I have had many great experiences in the form of vacations. Between going to Disney World, owning a vacation home, hanging out with my grandparents in Arizona, traveling to Canada and more. They all make amazing memories that I will forever cherish. The vacation spot we go to the most, though, is Wisconsin Dells. A few times I have been allowed to invite friends to come with. When I am allowed to bring friends, it is always a ginormous amount of fun. We goof off in the hotel room, play in the arcades, and swim in the water parks.
Some of my favorite moments with my grandfather were how we always did everything together. I was glad I lived with my grandparents. Stuff with my actual family weren’t the best, because they thought they couldn’t handle me. My grandfather and I had so much fun throughout the years. We enjoyed going for ice cream the most. We always had the same ice cream every once in a while, but occasionally we would change it up a little. We usually grabbed chocolate ice cream for a treat, but sometimes we would decide we want a twist ice cream. I loved spending time with my grandfather.
To begin, serial killers are those who commit a series of murders usually without no motive during extended periods of times. In addition, serial killers are also known to commit their murders in a pattern. To society these people are usually referred to as “monsters”, and they believe that these kinds of individuals should be given the worse punishment. Not to mention, society has different opinions on whether serial killers should be given capital punishment or if they should be given a sentence to life in prison, without the possibility of parole. In my opinion, I believe that serial killers should not be given the death penalty. I believe that anyone who can commit murders obviously has mental problems. Serial
The death penalty is something few people love. Death penalty involves a myriad of bureaucratic processes given that the judiciary must use long and complicated sessions to ensure no citizen is wrongly executed for the crimes they have not done. However, there are cases where even the innocent persons are not protected from mischievous executions and end up being executed for crimes they did not commit. Most people argue that death penalty is cruel while life imprisonment is inhumane but less cruel. There is also the possibility of parole in case of a life sentence. Apparently, life imprisonment is a better than death penalty given that it costs less, and the money saved can be channeled to some other important programs that improve the life of the citizens. The detention also reduces the possibility of the accused to reverse the mistake. Millions of dollars saved are advantageous in improving schools, infrastructure, police forces, strengthening public programs, improving mental health services, enabling drug treatment, and preventing child abuse. This piece of writing will argue why life imprisonment is better than death penalty.
Some of the many memories I carry with me every day of my grandmother are the holidays when we used to get together. I remember Thanksgiving and Easter most of all. On Thanksgiving the entire family would come together for dinner and then we would all stay at her house for the night. I remember this so well because we would wake up the next morning to the smell of breakfast and all the ladies would be gone shopping to the "After Thanksgiving Sale".
