What is a tyranny, a tyranny is a harsh rule on the country and its people, now imagine how a tyranny would be like for our constitution and we would be oppressed by the ruler by their harsh rule. How did the constitution guard against tyranny is the question I was asked throughout this writing and I found three key reasons why our government is not a tyranny now. How did the united states government guard against harsh ruling? My reasons for thinking the constitution guarded against tyranny is Federalism, Separation of Powers, and Checks and Balances.

Federalism kept the constitution safe because it wasn't just ran by the government it was also ran by the people. In Document A in the excerpt they have given you it says that the government is given to the government and the people making it to where if the government does something that goes against the constitution the people can stop them from doing so or if is goes to a tyranny they can impeach the ruler and start a new government. Federalism guards against tyranny due to its bicameral structure with the state and federal government and it allows it's citizens to have a say in what is constitutional or not. …show more content…

Separation of powers makes sure each power is divided into separate branches to make sure no other branch has more control over the other. Early on, with no objection, it was decided to frame a new constitution featuring a separation of powers. Separation of powers allows the powers to be divided equally and it helps the branches powers remain
