Why did you choose the song to analyse? What do you like about the lyrics and artist? I chose Sides by Allday. I find it a catchy song and I like the meanings. I like the lyrics because it is quite relevant to the modern era. I like the artist as he talks about his journey to being successful in most of his songs. He really gets across his ideas incredibly well with really good literary techniques. 2. What do you believe to be the main themes in the song? Identify a minimum of two themes and explain your response using direct quotes from the lyrics to support your answer. What do you believe to be the main messages in the song put across through the lyrics? the impact of the party or drug life is a very prevalent theme in Sides. The Lyrics “She just wanna go downtown when the sundown. Got a couple pills and it's cool 'til the comedown. And I brought the whole damn crew but it's alright. Living every day to the fullest, never switch sides” is a perfect way to describe party goer’s attitude towards life. The second theme is the appreciation of close friends through times of peril. This means when you are going through tough times someone always has your back. The lyric “Never Switch Sides” means that your friends won’t change sides and will always be on your …show more content…
He says in the song that he keeps taking criticism and having people by your side helps with that. Friends and Family is your support in life and is an essential part of who you are 4. What do you believe was the main intention of the songwriter when writing this song? You can use outside resources to help you respond to this question but you must reference your sources in a bibliography. I believe his focus was making a song that had a strong message. The message and themes in Sides are quite strong in what they mean. It’s about when people are by his side and helping him through tough times. This is when you are having difficulty dealing with something but someone close to you helps you to deal with that. 5. Who is the target audience? Explain your answer. The target audience is people in their late teens to early twenty’s. I believe this is the target audience because of the party lifestyle theme in the song. The reason Allday is an artist popular among younger people is most his songs have millennial thoughts and ideas which appeal to a teenage audience. Having a teenage audience is probably the best audience to have as they listen to music nonstop and have to keep buying music
In Poetry authors use a range of literary techniques. These techniques can include the use of rhyme, alliteration, personification, similes, metaphors and imagery. The poems that will be compared in this essay include: My Country by Dorothea Mackellar, The Eagle by Alfred Lord Tennyson and Old Man Platypus by Banjo Patterson.
I chose this song because, in my opinion, it has a good thesis that backs up the song lyrics and it gives you a positive feeling. Basically, the song is telling us to always keep our faith and stay strong no matter what. It encourages people to
For the elusive teen segment Claude should advertise on contemporary (pop, hip hop, etc.) local radio stations that teens actually listen to. He can offer an exclusive teen night either Friday or Saturday night. He should think about hiring a contemporary dj to play that night and encourage everyone who comes to tweet, hashtag or upload selfies to their social apps(Twitter or Instagram).
The song is about breaking away from an old life and trying new things. Some may even consider it a song about growing up, and that could be true in some ways, but it is mostly about shedding your past and becoming a new person. Firstly, she talks about her childhood in her hometown and dreams that she wants to achieve to make her life happier and meaningful. The poet tries to work hard to reach her dream, but she has to meet obstructions from her surroundings that make her finally feel uncomfortable to stay in her hometown. And with strong motivation to reach her goal, the poet assures herself to move to another place, but when she is able to reach her dream, she will not forget her past and people she loves.
Mainly this song is about G-Eazy’s life and how it was for him growing up. About what he was going through and what his family had on their plates. It starts out telling about his early life and the things he dealt with. Like his family saying he turned his back on them when he was trying to make something of himself. They just doubt him and they never believe in him to be there or make it anywhere. He talks about the paths he could have taken whether he did certain things. How the people were just hard on him and had no faith and gave him a hard time. He tries to say it will be ok no matter what happens. He talks about how in grade school he went through a lot with his parents and how he ended up leaving his dad and then his mom started dating a girl and how he did not know what was going on. He then saw how it made his mom happy so he was ok with it. He just wanted to see his mom be happy. Then his mom’s girlfriend became depressed and overdosed and died. To me the bigger picture in this song is the fight of life.
I chose this song because it gets you a little hype & in the song he is referring to family as everything. The song makes you realize what family is and how they are always going to be with you. Also it telling you about what's right, even though it may seem like what you're doing is good because it's helping your family isn't really and that you should get it the right way. ¨Only the family in my eyes, you can't divide us, Got some old heads telling me right¨. This is like me only people who are really here for me is family.
Lyrically in my opinion. It’s about how the world is going to continue to change and you have to do what is best for you no matter the circumstance. I also feel that he was speaking on having a better relationship with god because at the end of the song it says, “God is going to show you higher ground. He’s the only friend you have around.” My mother always says, “Get right with the lord before its’ too late because you never know when he’s going
It highlights the struggles that are happening for people. There are some great guitar riffs and distortion. It has a verses/chorus composition. The song is a little bit slower to begin, but soon picks up the tempo, it is a great song to sing along because the lyrics are not distorted by the instruments, like you find with some other bands. This song was written by Richie Sambora, Jon Bon Jovi, and Desmond Child.
There is no doubt that song lyrics possess the potential to be powerful. The meaning of the lyrics can be used in any way the listener feels it applies. The underlying meaning to a song often determines if I will listen to it or not. Words such as “lonely” and “change” are repeatedly used in “Go Your Own Way”. Change and loneliness are arduous for many people, myself included, and listening to this song alleviates the pain of heartbreak. Many people experience this pain but cannot put it into words. Fleetwood Mac, however, successfully accomplished this. This song helped me to get through some tough times, and it
For those whom are interested in music and want to know what kind of music most teenagers around the world are listening to, this article written by EDM Ranks can be absorbing. The article “How Did Electronic Dance Music Get So Popular” informs people and gives an idea of how it all started. A lot of things in life has its story and some people, mostly teenagers can be interested in learning a little of the background of the music they listen to. Music and its popularity change every year. There are more fans of the genre Rap in one year, and for the next year more Rock fans can be found. People like to sing and most of them dream
The lyrics capture imagery as well when someone awakes then he or she’s life is now complete so their cheeks aren’t dry anymore because they have a person to share it with. Rythms in the lyrics help remind the person reading or listening to the lyrics that the person depressed in the song has negative thoughts about him or she life and about them that their life is plain, mouring of a person to share it with, and trying to remeber that they are not sane. The song is special at capturing the listering and readers attention over the lyrics by expressing how one person can view themself and their life in a depressed way. I really love this song because it means that just because you believe your life is plain and boring or that you have no one and you have to remind your self your not sane that you can change your life by making it something better then it already
I was imagining myself driving to my ex-boyfriends house with a head full of courage and my gut filled with rage, banging on the door, and demanding him to literally “take it off”. Everyone has that spunk hidden under the layers of shy emotions, but listening to this song certainly brings it out. The lyrics “I came all the way just to see you,” indicates the journey we’re about to go on through About Last Night. The track “Haunting Me” surprised me with its vulnerability. Here I was feeling all confident, then Alex Kandel reminds us of how its not so easy to actually move on from something you were once so attached to. This song gives the album a realistic vibe that anyone can easily relate
For my paper, I’ve decided to discuss 5 songs while also analyzing and evaluating the lyrics that depict ideas such as love, friendship, family relationships, or any social issues. Now for the five songs I’ve picked to discuss, I chose the ones that have been major influences in my life because their messages stood out to me as being extremely relatable due to the message it conveyed. The first song I’ve chosen to discuss is “Sing about me" by Kendrick Lamar, in this song Kendrick sings through the perspectives of 2 different people that he knew. One positive and one negative he later then gives his own perspective. This whole song discusses life in an urban ghetto and Kendrick exemplifies the different ways people choose to survive for example The first person who Kendrick sings about turns to vengeance through violence due to his brother being shot by gang members, while the second person sells
This genre is unlike the more popular genres of pop, rock and roll, hip-hop, and country that attract wide age-range demographics in EDM “A heavy portion of the listening population falls in between the age of 18 to 24 for both males and females”(Lee 2). This EDM genre is “produced primarily for the purposes of use within a nightclub setting, or in an environment that is centered in dance-based entertainment”(EDMJUNKIES 1), which is commonly found to be a predominantly young adult fan-base.
This very slow song, so in my opinion I think it reinforces a sense of bittersweet, because even though she mentions how she wants to be remembered for the good things that she did she also mentions death and regrets in her song.
