The reason I deserve a scholarship, as part of the business scholars experience, is because I would like to see my dream of pursuing a course in management and finance come to reality, as well as make my parents proud. I have traveled a bumpy road to get to where I am today. My dad had to work extra hard to make sure that he provided me with basic needs. Unfortunately, my dad is not able to raise enough money for my college tuition, but I’m more than determined to get a job during college in order to be able to pay my expenses and live my dream. Despite all the hardship we have gone through, I still managed to maintain decent grades, had time to serve my community by joining various clubs and organizations, and I kept on dreaming about my future.
I believe that I should be awarded this scholarship because of my effort in my past twelve years. There have been many times where I wanted to give up on school, but my motivation arose from my parents and their struggle to keep my sister and me in school. Being from Guatemala, their goal was for me to get my education, and if I didn’t try I would be letting the opportunities slip through my hands. Throughout my four years of high school I’ve had sleepless nights, about 100 cups of coffee, endless alarm clocks, and stressful test days to get myself where I am now. I am twelve out of the one thousand and ninety-nine seniors; my GPA is a four point five. In the end it was all my effort. Without me pushing myself, I wouldn’t have been here awaiting
I think I deserve this scholarship because I am a bright student that continuously strives to be the best that I can be. I have been through many struggles but continue to make the most of life itself. To me scholarships are not just free money to go out and spend on whatever. I truly need this money to be able to further my education because it is already a huge struggle for me to put gas in my car so that I can go to my nurse aide class. I know that things will work out as long as I never give up on my dreams. I am very serious when it comes to my education. This is because in society today if you don't have a good educational background then it is very hard to find a good job. Life has always been a battle for me but knowing that there are people out there who are ready to help and inspire me through the hard times just makes it all worth it. So as long as i know that people appreciate what I do, I will never give up.
Another question should be, why do I want to receive a scholarship, which the answer to that is because there are many things I want to do in my college career, which is to be a business administration, at “The Great American” at Cincinnati Ohio. I want to do something different
As a minor, it has been a dream of mine to attend a college and further my education in health. This is due to my desire to help others and my urge to provide the care and treatment for those around me. My passion for health and helping others has pushed me to become actively involved in my local nursing home program. This program has given me an opportunity to shadow certified nurses and observe their interaction with the residents there. For years I have witnessed these nurses show compassion and care to these residents and it has truly inspired me to further my education in medicine. Therefore, it will be an honor in itself to receive an academic scholarship and obtain my degree from the Lawson State Community College nursing program.
Leadership and service, both as part of and in a community, invariably determine the result of actions taken, and ultimately, the success of such a community. Leadership is about taking the first step while service revolves around taking the necessary steps that result. I am a passionate student mainly because during my life I have seen firsthand the effects of not working hard and momentarily losing hope. My goal is to harness my past experiences as motivation to improve the lives and care for others effectively. I believe I am one of the best candidates for the Rev Dr. James and Aretha Rogers Education and Scholarship Fund because my passion, dreams, and aspirations are only fundamentals to my hard work ethic; this scholarship would allow me to be prepared for college and a give me a great sense of honor.
I believe I should be awarded this scholarship because of the hard work and dedication I put fourth in every school day. My family has just enough money to make it by, living pay check to pay check. I don't like to see my parents struggle and I now have two jobs in order to not take away from the money making ends meet. My economic status doesn't hinder me, it makes me stronger. I know I have to do well in high school and college in order to change standards that my family lives in. Neither of my parents graduated from college and I want to break the cycle not only to make them proud, but to make myself proud. I believe I should be awarded the scholarship because I am not only thinking about futhering myself, I'm thinking about helping my
I believe that I deserve this scholarship because I have dedicated my life to helping anyone and everyone I can. Starting in middle school I worked very closely with The Town of North Hempstead in all and any volunteer opportunities they offered. In 9th grade I was given the chance to help out at ht e local library, then at the school library, and have set up sessions where high school students read to the kids in elementary school. 10th grade I continued with these endeavors. In 11th grade I realized I wasn't doing enough to help, so I joined up with Shoes for Harvest. This organization collects shoes and distributes them to people who are in need. Working with them we collected over 1500 pairs of shoes, which is more then they had done in
The scholarship committee should elect me as a scholarship recipient because I live to serve my community. A college degree is a highly valued asset for a person to possess. It is my aspiration to attend college and a scholarship would provide me with that opportunity. I will take advantage of that opportunity by contributing to society. I would love to invest the benefits of a college education by donating to charitable and leadership organizations, or simply providing them with fundamental resources required to succeed.
I believe I am deserving of this scholarship award because as well as committing myself to academic success, I continue to be an active member of the polish community through volunteer organizations. As an instructor in the polish scouting organization I volunteer my time leading camps on a provincial and national level, and attending ceremonial heritage events. I have also become a member of the McMaster Polish Society. Since entering the program of mechanical engineering, I have developed a keen interest in two branches of this field, avionics and injury biomechanics. In terms of avionics, designing, building, and improving existing technology of aircraft and seeing your work realised would the utmost personal achievement. As a former athlete,
The ACE program (Achieving a College Education) plans on providing me a future scholarship, for future classes I will be taking. My parents have contributed over $100 dollars in gas total to transport me to PVCC (Paradise Valley Community College) each day during the summer of 2017, and every Saturday since the start of the school year. My parents have also contributed approximately $50 dollars in school supplies such as; pens, pencils, agenda, etc. and over $100 dollars contributed to eat-out items such as; lunch.
There are many reasons why one may need a scholarship; however, no matter the outcome, I constantly remind myself every day that I am quite worthy because I can be persistent. This is one of the many qualities needed in order to be successful. Another of my strong traits is that I can be exceptionally unique; for I am just as thankful, that there is only one of me, and it is highly unlikely to find another exactly like me. It is up to me to find a way to highlight the special qualities that I possess, so others can see them, too. One of my strongest traits of all is that I can overcome any and all obstacles in my way. I have been repeatedly told that I cannot do something because of one reason or another; but this only drives me to try
I believe that I should receive this scholarship because I'm a safe investment. The current grade point average I have is somewhere in the 3.3 - 3.4 range at the moment and I have full intentions on raising that as much as I can with my time left in highschool. I have a work ethic that pushes me to go above and beyond what is required of me, failure and backing out of college is not an option for me. I already began learning skills of my future major, computer science, that will help me through college as well as the world out in the workforce as a career.
I believe I should be awarded with this scholarship because I'm a person that doesn't give up. I moved to United States 3 years ago, and I domain the language in less of time that a normal person. I'm a hardworking that is ready to fight for the dreams. My dream is to go to University of Nevada, Reno and graduate with a major in education and hep kids that have the same issues that I had when I moved. Not knowing the language, culture, and educational system can be hard for immigrants. Specially when it comes out to interact with others.
When I graduate from college, I aspire to instruct elementary school where I would have the ability to mold young students to have strength, intelligence, and optimism similar to mine and embrace the world as it is yet also embrace the “formidable” transitions as well instead of fearing both. I would evoke tenacious character traits out of each and every student to encourage him or her to succeed and progress far in life with elevated standards for him or herself. While this career lends itself to a more valuable experience, it does not entail the same value monetarily. Teaching would allow me to be rich in the heart not in the pocket, but I am not pursuing this career for that particular reason. I pursue it for the reasons listed above. I aspire to impact the world and believe the greatest impact begins from the roots of a community which reside in the elementary schools nurtured by their teachers.
“In order to succeed, your desire for success should be greater than your fear of failure” (Bill Cosby). Reflecting back on my life I have dealt with numerous downfalls but I always bounce back. I was born in India and moved here when I was six years old. As I grew up in California I was not a bright student at first. I was enrolled in Carmichael Elementary in which I was the only one with Turban on my head, which caused me to get into a lot of fights with other students who were making fun of turban. Not knowing how to speak English at the time affected the way interacted with teachers and students. On the other hand my family always had a tight budget at home. Both of my parents worked at the store we owned which was the only source money. At school kids were always talking about their new shoes and the iPod which his or her parents got them. I didn’t get everything I wanted as a kid but as I got older I understand if did I could be a spoiled brat. When I moved from Carmichael to Sacramento and I was enrolled at Maeola R. Beitzel elementary. Going to this new school I already learned English so I made marvelous friends and was surrounded by positive people. Going from a chaos environment to this harmonious environment in part because I was speaking English, made me have unique personality .I was playing sports and growing as a student. Those years went by in no time. Now I am in high school and my family’s income has been growing. My mom changed her work to now at Jack in
