Today for two weeks, public areas around Venice become the showcase for actors, acrobats and musicians with residents and visitors alike wearing elaborate masks and elegant costumes.
Carnevale celebrates the end of winter and the coming spring season. It is a festive season, which occurs immediately before Lent. Celebrations are held all over Italy from Venice and Milan down to the villages and towns of Sicily. The celebration of Carnevale is the Italian version of Mardi Gras in New Orleans with oranges instead of beads. Many of the biggest celebrations

Renaissance – 14th century, it started as a cultural movement in Italy and it resulted in a massive spread of optimism throughout Europe.
The Renaissance period is known for the revival of the classical art and intellect born in ancient Greece and Rome. The Renaissance is also a time that is marked by growth, exploration, and rebirth. The Italian Renaissance started in Florence and progressively made its way into Venice and then into the great city of Rome. During the Renaissance, Rome was home to some of the most renowned works of art and the finest architectural masterpieces in the world - too many that still holds true today. Along with the delicate architecture and grand artistry, Rome was also home to a mixture of people and cultures. It is in this cultural context and through the book A Street Life in Renaissance Rome: A Brief History with Documents, that understanding how men, woman, and specifically Jews and Christians lived in Rome becomes important to better understand this period of renewal.

The Italian Renaissance was a period in history unlike most others; this was an era of ingenuity, expansion, and enlightenment that would revolutionize both society as the people of the Renaissance knew it to be, and as the future generations of individuals across the globe understand it today. Florence held itself out to be the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance, yet the people of this renaissance era never lost sight of the Greek and Roman heritage. The following essay will discuss the varying ways in which Florence was the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance, and will provide the reader with examples that demonstrate Greco-Roman ideas and practices in the Italian Renaissance.
All around Louisiana, the people celebrate Mardi Gras in early spring. Urban cities such as New Orleans and Baton Rouge utilize fancy bright lighted parades, celebrity kings and queens, and shiny beads to celebrate the festivities. Growing up in south Louisiana, I attended many of these parades in the Big Easy. My grandparents would tell stories of rural Mardi Gras and the Cajun culture. After hearing their stories, I decided to attend the courir de Mardi Gras. The courir de Mardi Gras is a traditional Mardi Gras event held the Tuesday before the catholic lent season in small rural towns. This is known as Fat Tuesday run.
It is essential to understand America’s critical infrastructure and key resources (CIKR) and National Infrastructure Protection Program (NIPP) to ensure survivability of its critical assets, while maintaining security for America. “The plans are carried out in practice by an integrated network of Federal departments and agencies, State and local government agencies, private sector entities, and a growing number of regional consortia (DHS, 2009, p. I).” Several agencies work together to mitigate attacks on CIKR to protect public safety and security of the nation. A terrorist may stop at nothing to carry out an attack on CIKR. If an attack or natural disaster does transpire, each agency working together to restore the damage must be timely. Additionally, NIPP helps to identify hazards associated with the various sectors, and provides necessary security measures to harden resources (DHS,
Coming from a heavily Italian family line, there are some traditions and rituals that we do and some that we do not do because we have become Americanized. For example, there are certain Italian foods that typically do not appear at the dinner tables of American families during holidays. During Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, my family makes a special Italian appetizer called “antipasto”, which is generally spicy Italian offerings, cold cuts, and special Italian cheeses. Also during those dinners, there is a heavy pasta dish that is eaten before the main course. During Christmas, my family shows off our Italian culture by putting up the “presepio”. “The presepio (manger or crib) represents in miniature the Holy Family in the stable and is the center of Christmas for families” (Christmas in Italy: Traditions 1). My family has kept these examples of Italian culture alive and we practice them in America. A part of our Italian culture that my family gave up in America is the Italian language. The older generations of family that were Italian born typically threw away the Italian language when coming to America. English took precedent over any other language because it was the language that was spoken by the majority of Americans. In America my family has adjusted to the American traditions, but kept some parts of Italian culture alive in our American

Carnitine is a chemical found in red meat and whole milk. It is also an over-the-counter supplement. It can be found on animals, bacteria, and some plants. Mardi Gras is a Christian holiday, which was brought by the French when they colonized a part of the United States of America. The first time that Mardi Grass was celebrated in America, was on March 3, 1699 (History, 2016) in what is today known as Louisiana, later in this carnival would be moved to New Orleans. Since the carnival was moved out of New Orleans, every year is celebrated between February and March; it all depends when is going to be Easter.
It was first celebrated by a secret society called Masque de la Mobile, which lasted until 1709 and then transitioned into the Boeuf Gras Society, which held parades for over a century until finally dissolving (Mardi Gras History). There would be a procession with a giant bulls head at the helm, which was pushed through the city on wheels by a large group of men. Later, the parade used an actual bull draped in white cloth. These traditions were adopted by New Orleans after its founding in 1718, and Mardi Gras was openly celebrated there as early as the 1730’s (Mardi Gras History). It provided the citizens of French Louisiana a way to relax their inhibitions while simultaneously displaying religious
