Sometimes bad things happen like citizens accepting and supporting racist beliefs and treatment of others, but why? There are many reasons that cause people to do bad things: many people do not want to draw the attention to themselves, often it is easier to follow the crowd, and sometimes people find themselves caught in a tradition. Most of the time these are the main reasons that cause people to do bad things in the world. One reason people do bad things is so that they do not draw attention to themselves. In the book Terrible Things is an example of not wanting to draw attention to themselves because of the things that the other animal did have so the Terrible Things would not take them away. In this case it is shown why citizens accept
This goes along with society. “The danger of trying to explain evil is that we risk falling into the abyss of predestination: that given these life events, this social surround and
There are many theories why people could do evil things. Is it because they were abused or had a rough childhood? What if the society isn’t to blame at all for their behavior? (Olivia Goldhill “Are Some Humans born evil?”) People say people are born evil or people who are born good turn evil. This topic has been studied for many years and many people have different opinions about it. A person may say they don’t believe that people are born evil. Another person may think that people are born evil or good people turn evil. An example is babies aren’t born evil. Their minds are wonderful. Their minds are innocent and they don’t know much. A person can’t possibly be born evil. It really depends sometimes how a person is raised or what that person experiences in life.
A new born baby is not born with sinful thoughts. Babies are axiomation of purity and innocence . Experiences such as a bad childhood, neglect by parents, abuse, power changes humans into being evil. How someone is nurtured also determines if they will become good or evil. Ego, lust, jealousy, betrayal, failure, and greed are some causes of evil. One is not born evil.
“That line between good and evil is permeable,” a psychologist from Stanford University by the name of Zimbardo once said. “Any of us can move across it… I argue that we all have the capacity for love and evil — to be Mother Theresa, to be Hitler or Saddam Hussein” (qtd. In Dittmann). Social psychologist Zimbardo implies that we can easily swap from side to side. What factors elicit darkness? What draws out the darkness, making us jump from good to bad? There are many views in the society that attempt to tackle this question. For instance, social psychology and philosophy. Social psychology tends to side with situation and or authority. On the other hand, philosopher John Locke is certain that the accumulation of experiences is the cause. What is the ultimate answer?
It is a very arguable subject on whether or not people are born with good intentions, and therefore taught by others the ‘evil’ side of their personality. Whether it is the absence of ethical conduct in human nature, or just the way one perceives a situation, evil seems to be prominent in our everyday lives. Humans seem to have a moral code that follows them with every decision they make, yet despite the laws of morality and society, people of this world still seem to behave inhumanely because of the act of self-preservation, human interest, and who exactly the authority figure is at the time.
There is a lot of evil in the world, and much of it happens unexplainably. In the history of life on Earth bad things have happened and evil has caused problems. In relation to some world
Module Overview: Part 1 Why people do harm to others? •
It is the innate darkness and leaning towards the evil that disposes us to committing acts of brutality and insensitivity.
There has always been a sense in people's hearts for what is right and what is wrong. The sense that tells you to turn that lost wallet or purse into the lost and found. The sense that makes you feel good when you open the door for a stranger, and the sense that helps you make good choices when faced with tough decisions. While this is how most of our minds work, there have always been bad people in this world. They think completely different. Some think its okay to keep a man's watch he forgets in the train station bathroom, while trying to hurry to catch his next ride. Others think its okay to rob a bank. These people had their goodness corrupted by situations they were put in throughout life, turning them into bad people. Everyone is built
life that turn them into evil. We are all born a blank slate and we pick up after what we
When humans are pushed to survive, they are willing to do anything to do so. In the novel “Lord of the Flies” by William Golding, a group of boys are stranded on an island and have to survive, however as the story progresses the boys become more barbaric and savage like. Even though there are good people in this world, there will always be evil. Why does evil exist? Golding’s belief of human nature is that humans are naturally evil and savage. However, law and civility keep humans from turning into this natural state of evil and Golding uses the development of Jack to show how savagery is created.
Understanding why it is that people act a certain way is no easy feat. It is commonly believed that people are born good, a blank canvas that is ready to absorb from its surroundings. Yet, no matter what way a canvas is painted it will always end up the same. Everyone has base instincts that are difficult to control. These instincts can be symbolized by the savage that we all have within us.
There are different types of people in the world, as they all have different behavior, personality, and culture. Everyone has a different view of what makes good people do bad things. It is amazing how such calm and nice people turn into such a bad people. There must be a psychology reason in order for them to turn like this. There are some factors I would like to know and also discuss of why people behave this way. Therefore, a person with different behavior makes them act different and hence, that impacts on a person’s personality which makes them turn from good person to bad person.
Being good or doing good things leads to many things, but in order to give a clearer definition, one must understand what it is that these good actions created. Once one understands this, then the individual can clearly see the logic behind what some would consider an evil action. Over time, humankind has strived to become what they believed to be holy pure or good. This attempt at being what is virtuous has given birth to a set code of conduct or thoughts that are now commonly seen as the right thing. This code of conduct was based upon morals, which are any given individuals thoughts and believes on what is acceptable as good and evil. Due to the fact that mankind also strives to be accepted by there peers, a common set of morals was established and agreed upon by any specific generation of people to be the good thing. Understanding and knowing these the morals of these given times in history will be necessary to understanding how to define evil.
Evil doesn 't necessarily have to be an action by a human; it can also be a result of a natural disaster such as: hurricanes, earthquakes, illness, etc. A hurricane can take away everything from thousands of humans. This causes the people to have no home, clothes, or food. This is also a form of evil, due to the suffering it causes. This is called natural evil. People can bring about moral evil upon themselves, although, they rarely can bring natural evil upon themselves. There is a distinct difference between the two, and one evil does not cause the other. The reason I point the
