Vietnam is a feudal country, but has now changed to communism, where the government decides everything for the country. That is why Vietnamese people have not been free to talk about politics. If you mention anything related to politics and the police will come to arrest you right away, you may be beaten. That is my theme in this
The Vietnam War was costly not only to our armed forces but to our American economy and American morale. We entered the war in an attempt to end the communist regime of North Vietnam and their southern allies, the Vietcong, from taking over South Vietnam. South Vietnam was an ally of the United States and due to this political relationship; the United States was entitled to help defend their ally. More than 58,000 Americans were killed in the Vietnam War. By 1969 it was the peak of American involvement in the war and more than 500,000 U.S. military personnel were involved in the Vietnam conflict. Throughout the war growing opposition towards participation of military forces threatened the support of the war. American citizens began to

Despite, the differences and political crisis inside the Country, American politicians denied the fact that Americans were at their own War. Chronically, the Government threatened most of Civil rights Movement leaders to death, but they fought for people’s rights against discrimination. Meanwhile, the United States was unrest with emerging Vietnamese War. With the help from Soviet Union, the Communist Government of Vietnam was trying to destroy Southern Vietnamese. The war was also well known as America's biggest mistake for warfare. Soldiers who served were disrespected and disgraced after their return. And many of the politicians in office were threatened and the government was beginning to fall apart do to miscommunication.
Vietnam has a very rich history that often goes unnoticed and unaccounted for, this is most likely due to the war being such a big landmark in the history of Vietnam. Before the war many events transpired that would eventually lead up to the war. In the late 19th century Vietnam was considered to be a French colony. The French built their own standing infrastructure, they began to build railways and roads and bridges. All of this building meant heavy taxation on the Vietnamese. This was all good and progressive for vietnam however “Naturally the Vietnamese wanted independence.” (http://www.localhistories.org/viethist.html) From there Ho Chi Minh founded a revolution and within 20 years Vietnam came under Ho Chi Minh rule.
The Vietnam War was one of the least supported wars in American History. It faced an immense and inexorable sum of social outcry that, while initially ignored, could not go completely unnoticed and unacknowledged by the government. While the majority of American citizens supported the war, they remained silent, most likely to protect themselves from the scrutiny of the minority that opposed the war. This minority of Americans were opposed to the war for moral reasons. They argued that the war was not any of the business of the united states and that it would be morally unjust to intervene because the North Vietnamese “were fighting a patriotic war to rid themselves of foreign aggressors.” that “Innocent Vietnamese peasants were being killed
For decades in the United States the Cold war remained one of the biggest political issues. However, the divisive point of the Cold War era was the Vietnam War in the thousands of Americans were killed and back home in the United States a civil war almost broke out.
Just imagine coming home to people who are unappreciative of other people risking their lives, fighting for their own country. The Vietnam War began over an argument between North Vietnam and South Vietnam about communism. American troops deployed in Vietnam to fight with the South during the Vietnam War, because they did not support communism. The Northern Vietnam troops were in support of communism and the Southern troops were not. The war went on for about 20 years, from 1955 until 1875. When the American soldiers who fought in Vietnam returned home, they were mistreated and unappreciated for their service.
Briefly, the year 1954 became a turning point that marks many changes on the political front in Vietnam. It ended the French colonial period by the 1954 Geneva Accords, opened a prior-independent era of a Communist North which was separated from a republican South and lasted through the Vietnam War up to April 30, 1975. Then the Communist Party took over the country and claimed to be a unique and “legal party responsible for all the policies and activities of the state.” With the unification of the North and the South, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam was inaugurated on July 2, 1976. It is important to note the two mass exoduses that happened from 1954 and beyond to escape Communism: (1) the migration of 860,000

For centuries Vietnam had been under Chinese rule. The Vietnamese people were an oppressed society and were exploited by the Chinese. Fear of communism, otherwise known as the Domino Theory, strengthened the American resolve to intervene in Vietnam. In addition, the US needed to maintain its credibility by coming out on top in the Vietnam conflict, so as to provide bargaining power in other conflicts. Of course, internal politics too played a role in the decision to intervene in Vietnam, with Lyndon Bane Johnson taking action that would directly involve US in Vietnam during his election. Once internal politics took hold, the slippery slope came into effect with Americans having to commit to the conflict in Vietnam without any serious way out.
War has been present among humans ever since prehistoric times. The world has seen many ideologies opposed and accepted for centuries. One such ideology is that of Karl Marx, communism. Communism is an ideology made by Karl Marx, which supports economic equality through the elimination of private property. Mass protests have taken place over the years between countries that are facing war against communism. America was facing a battle of communism in Vietnam, which was then divided into two separate parts, whereas countries like Chile likewise faced a similar problem among their youth involving high tuition prices. The cause for the rise of protests in America and Chile were due to communist leaders in which both protests involved violence.
The Vietnam War was a conflict that pitted the communist government of North Vietnam and its allies in South Vietnam, the Viet Congs, against the western allied government of South Vietnam. The Vietnam War was also part of a larger regional conflict and a manifestation of the Cold War between democracy and communism. The conflicts of the 21st century will be one of the defining moments of the youth of the United States today when it is looked back on it several decades later; in much the same way the Vietnam War defined a generation of youth in the 1960s and the 1970s. Some questions that had arisen from the Vietnam War were how did the communist Vietnamese win against the Super Power of the United States? What were the social movements in
Vietnam was a country divided into two by communism in the North and capitalism in the South. The Vietnam War, fought between the years 1959 and 1975, was, in essence, a struggle by nationalists in the north to unify the nation under a communist government. This was a long standing conflict between the two sides that had been occurring for years. It wasn’t until 1959 when the USA, stepped in, on the side of southern Vietnamese, to stop the spread of communism. It was a war that did not capture the hearts and minds of the American people as it was viewed as a war that the US army couldn’t win and so the government lost the peoples support for the war. This ultimately led to the withdrawal of the US army from Vietnam. Some people, like
As the communist regime was gaining strength, more and more people were trying to escape Vietnam. The refugees would sell anything and everything to acquire a place on a boat to vacate the country. The boats used to escape were leaky, old and never in good condition, but people still boarded them. ’The people looked like sardines in a can” (From there (Vietnam) to here (Australia)) (see Appendix 3). Only 60% made it to a country that they liked, 40% often died at sea. The seas were rough and large storms would often need to be ensued. Pirates would attack the erratic boats, taking anything of value and raping the women. Food was scarce on the boat and they only fresh water was when it rained. Often they were rescued and taken to refugees camps
