There are several reasons for the American Revolution to happen even though the conventional citizen did not particular wanted independence from Britain. The geographical considerations are one of them. The people getting to America was often not satisfied with their life and particular with the amount of freedom in Europe, so when Britain came from far distance and took away their freedom, it is obviously that some of the Americans were ready to fight for it. Taken the Age of Enlightenment going on in Europe at the same time, the thoughts of liberty spread out, and the revolutionists were inspired by these thoughts. So he was criticizing their system saying it is a mix of tyrannies and is taking away the citizens’ freedom. Thomas Jefferson asserted that the colonists were only united with England through their voluntary allegiance to the king. So the revolution was justified by criticizing the governmental system of Britain, the relationship between the colonies and Britain and at last the freedom that were taken away from Americans. The revolutionists also used concrete examples of things Britain did to make the revolution escalate, for an example the Stamp act, the Boston Massacre and the proclamation of 1763. They of course also used the Age of Enlightenment’s thoughts of natural rights as stated in the Declaration of Independence. There were also a higher growth in the colonies than in Britain, but Britain was taxing the colonies, and the injustice of that system became an argument as well.
