Winston Churchill is one of the most influential people of all time. He was best known for standing up to the Germans during the Second World War. Ultimately, the British and the allied powers defeated the Germans and the axis powers with an American atomic bomb towards the Japanese. The Second World War was supposed to change everything. It changed nothing, yet it changed the world forever. Churchill cemented his legacy during World War Two where he served his country as the British Prime Minister. The life of Winston Churchill began in the year of 1874. Son of Lord Randolph Churchill and Lady Randolph Churchill. During the Spring of 1886, Winston had a serious issue with pneumonia that nearly killed him. The family physician, Dr. Robson Roose, gave constant attention to young Winston which could have helped save his life.
At age 15, he joined the army class of Harrow, again he did not do well in this class as well but he did end up passing his “preliminary” tests. Winston experienced yet another miracle and that was surviving a twenty nine foot fall which ruptured his kidney. Churchill received a spine injury which gave him a slight stoop for the rest of his life. His parents wasted no time and he received the best medical care and it took him six weeks to recover although it should have been longer. After three attempts to enter the Royal Military College at Sandhurst he finally passed and was accepted into the college. When he entered the college he was a cavalry cadet due to the fact that he was not qualified for the infantry which caused “...major disappointment in his father” (International Churchill Society, 2017).
In the Spring of 1894, Lord and Lady Randolph went on an ill-advised world tour. The deterioration of Lord Randolph’s health was getting worse as time progressed. Lord Randolph went against his doctor’s words and decided to embark. As Winston progressed through the military college his father’s health was deteriorating more and more.
