Something that ticks me off is that people think football is hitting people with the ball and to beat the other team. There is more to football than that. It is about brotherhood and having each other's backs and making sure that when one of them does their job wrong you can help them out because you won't let one of your teammates fail. It is about waking up and doing intense workouts and finishing it with your teammates and getting better while everyone else is still sleeping. You need the whole team to work together and be on the same page in order to truly have fun and be successful in football. The thing with football is that you just can’t have one good player you need a team of 11 working together to win and be good. You need to have …show more content…
I know all of us could be doing something else besides being at football but we all have something in common and that is that we love football and being around each other and talking to one another. I respect everyone in here for not giving up on us and continuing to show up to everything no matter how hard things got. Being a Central football player has given me so many memorable things that I will never forget about. like when i convinced Avery during team meal 2 weeks ago that you could wield wood together or have Coach Howard try to one v one me in practice and me letting him win a couple times (maybe a little bit more than a couple times) but it was so he could feel good about himself and not because he actually owned me and still has it in him. Being a Central football player and playing with all you guys has been an honor for me. With that being said I know whenever our season ends that we will all still be family forever. I always had my doubts when people would say this but when Jake Arter passed away during this off-season I saw how everyone who was on our team was sad even if they didn’t really know him. After I saw that every football player showed up to his funeral I had no doubt in my mind that this was a real family. I truly believe now that we will all be family no matter
For every high school kid out there or college player, there is greatness in being the kind of teammate who truly wants to be part of a team. Everyone wants to be the reason they winning or losing. Every single one of us wants to be that person. But there are special moments that come from a shared commitment to play a role, while doing it together. That's what you will remember. Not your stats or your prestige, but the relationships and the achievement that you created through a group. It's hard to do, but there's great joy in
Hey my name is Timothy Wimbley I'm here to speak about my nephew Mark Wimbley. I have not played in the NFL. for two minutes , let alone 18 years, I do not have past seasons to remember about or hilarious locker room stories to joke about. But I do have one thing, and that is love.Your Mark Wimbley , your Number 50, And your friend, is also my nephew. And although I didn’t know every aspect of his life, I did know one particular part very well. His athleticism and talent made him extraordinary enough to make it into the Hall, but it is his passion and heart that made him legendary. Today I would like to honor him and his legendary heart. The two words that fit best to describe my nephew the most are “passion” and “love.” Everything he achieved,
The stands were filled with the same mix of generations whose sons, fathers, grandfathers and great, grandfathers played in this humble stadium for this unapologetically proud town. And the people know their football. They live for their football. The rules of the game are just as simple as the rules they live their lives by—work hard, treat others with respect, be accountable and don’t forget where you came
I had preconceived notions of what being on the football team was like through movies and tv. But the real thing is so much more. The attitude of the coaches and players overwhelms you by their intensity and devotion to the team. The idea of individualism was quashed. This is not an overstatement, they literally chastised you for trying to differentiate from the team. Doing thing like wearing different color socks or gloves were discouraged. You were either another helmet in the field or out of the team. I was shocked at first, but considering the team’s track record, regularly in the playoffs and got to the state championship last year, I figured they must be doing something right
What does football mean to you? To many, it means teamwork, competition, strategy, and tensions. Football has been around for many years, but recently, many are becoming aware and concerned about the deadly and life threatening dangers football harbors. There is also controversy in terms of age, and whether or not young children should be exposed to the brutality of the sport, given the high impact injuries. The important characteristics football instructs are tremendously important and valuable, although, considering the harmful and detrimental factors, children should not be exposed and victimized as a result of playing football.
Looking back as a senior, I’ve come to realize that football is more than just a sport. It’s a test of commitment, but most importantly, it develops character. How many laps of running does it take for me to fold? How many hits am I able to endure before I quit? Football demands courage, to push one beyond their physical and mental capabilities. It has taught me to put others first instead of myself, and despite obstacles in my way, the act of overcoming fear was, and still is, a priority. Along the way, I’ve been given the honor to meet the most passionate individuals while playing the game. These were the same people who lived through the grind and pain since our first practice as a freshman until our final battle as a senior. Whether it
Football is one of the most valuable sports that a person can play in their life. Many people mistakingly think that football is a brutal sport with no value towards someone's lifelong achievements throughout their life, but they couldn't be more wrong. Football is indeed a brutal sport, but recent advancements in safety technology reduces the chance of injury exponentially. Another common misconception about the sport of football is that it teaches no valuable life lessons to the athletes that play, but like the previous mistaken thought, it couldn't be any more wrong. Football teaches young minds the value of teamwork and trust, and it also teaches the players the value of brotherhood and trusting those around you. It also helps young people to understand the value of exercise, and the benefits of being physically fit. Football is a safe and fun form of exercise that teaches valuable life lessons.
Football is something i find very time consuming and engaging. The sport alone requires lots of practice day and night, physical and mental strength, and dedication. When practicing you never know how long you will be there, but i only think of it as more time to get better . The excitement that comes with playing football is beyond comparison to anything else. The days of the game is all about staying focus on the game and mentally prepare to go out and dominate the opponent. The support from our fans give us the drive to bring home the victory for them. Friday nights are the best. We start off with our team meal, usually it's spaghetti or barbecue stuffing our bellies till we can't eat any more, then we relax and either watch film or a
The week of the last home game of the season was a wreck for me. I was not going to be honored as a senior along with my other seniors. My pride was shattered, and I debated everyday weather or not the game was worth going to for that much emotion. That Friday I matched my outfit with my fellow teammates and went to school with my head high, I was not going to let them see me be hurt by their decision.
Do you remember the the fun of high school football games? I do. The cold rough bleachers and my warm soft blanket. Everybody was having fun even though we were probable losing. When we finally got a touchdown everyone went wild. The players were being tackled but most of us didn't care. Hayden was trying to steal my side of the blanket so I pushed him and he started fake crying I had to calm him down. The amount of selfies going on were insane. My hot chocolate was delicious and my popcorn was awesome too. The game ended and we will all remember that last football game.
Football is a sport where you find who you are on the inside; it is more than just a sport it is a battle of trust and self-defiance with others and yourself. You push yourself to your very wits, while finding the strength to lift your teammates, knowing that you are only as strong as your weakest link. You struggle to build a trusting relationship with your teammates, yet this relationship grows and before you know it they become your brothers, and a family forms. Through the struggles I realize we may fall, but we still rise to face another week, because you are built a fighter and you are fighting for something bigger than yourself. I start to realize that football and life go hand in hand; and the hardships we face in football come in
Football isn’t just a sport. There are many benefits of playing football. It teaches players important skills, like discipline, teamwork, and focus. Not only does football teach you skills, it can create long lasting friendships and physical fitness. Many who have played football, wouldn’t give up their memories playing for anything in the world.
From some point of views, football seems like a meaningless sport where a bunch of idiotic brutes try to see who can hit the hardest. But behind all of that, football can teach very good personality traits and characteristics. The coaches aren’t always just about winning, most would rather teach their players right from wrong and how they should live their lives and want them to always do the right thing. They teach discipline, hard work, and
Growing up in a close town, there were three important aspects: community, education, and football. Because we were such a small town, there is always a sense of community and as a UD student, there is no doubt that I will become a part of another close community. My town also has a great reputation for our school system and UD is no different. I am always challenged and expected to rise to the occasion by my teachers which is where I will be kept on my toes. Finally, football is a very important part of my life. Being a cheerleader and spending many of my Fridays under the lights, I have been closely involved with the football community in my town. Being around football is where I am comfortable and I am happy to now change my Friday nights
I have participated in football since elementary school. My love for football stems from the sport being a game in which you cannot win unless everyone on the team contributes and does their job. Football prepares men for life; it teaches skills such as teamwork, the ability to come back from a loss, and leadership. Additionally, I love football due to the promotion of competition and a strive for greatness that isn’t present in many other aspects of my life. This sport also enables me to increase my personal athletic ability, and to maintain a healthy lifestyle. However, football only makes up half of my passion for sports.
