Born in Brazil in 1928, Mendes da Rocha began his career as an architect in São Paulo around the early 1950s. He opened his office in 1955 and soon created an outstanding masterpiece with devotion and passion, the Athletic Club of São Paulo (1957). During his early career, Paulo Mendes da Rocha was a professor, teaching at the University of São Paulo and later became as President of the Brazilian Institute for Architects.
