The voting age has been 18 for several centuries. Some people think lowering to 16 would be a great opportunity for young teens, but there are obvious reasons why they still haven’t lowered it. Some of the reasons are 16 year olds can easily be influenced by their parent’s choices, teens under 18 are less experienced, society sees them as kids not as adults, and parents wouldn’t allow their kids to go to war. Many 16 year olds don’t even care about politics even as they get closer to the voting age

Giving suffrage to people 16 and older would have a net negative effect; the age of suffrage should stay at 18. Not only would it lower voter percentages, given that, as stated in paragraph 3 of "Keep the Voting Age at 18," "only 38% of voters in the 18 - 24 age group voted in 2012," and the younger the person, the less interest they have in politics, but it also would skew the results unfairly. The news media and even some teachers have a tendency to project their personal views, whether implicitly

Although all Americans have the right over the age of 18, not all citizens vote because of four common, yet relevant reasons. One’s educational level, age, level of income, and prestige of occupation determine if they will vote or not. First and for most, the education one has is the single most important factor in predicting whether they vote. Although mostly, all American citizens know they have the right to vote, they do not know how to get registered or where to vote. That does seem like a

While others may believe lowering the voting age makes sense, I do not. Why continue to lower the voting age, leave it where it is at so the young adults can see how the system works and gain a bit of knowledge before hoping right in to vote. I believe lowering the voting age for the following reasons, does not make sense. The voting participation percentage is already at a low rate, why dig ourselves deeper by widening our age range to non participants, 16-17 years olds are not showing much

Many people will argue that the voting age should either be heightened or kept the same.
