21st Century Leadership of Willie Robertson Willie Robertson is the Chief Executive Officer of Duck Commander, which is a family owned and operated hunting-accessories company. Willie’s father founded the company in 1972, but it’s been Willie’s entrepreneur skills and charismatic leadership that has developed the company into a multi-million dollar business specializing in the manufacturing of duck calls, duck decoys, cooking DVDs and apparel. He also introduced his family and company to the world through the popular A&E reality TV show “Duck Dynasty” which has had a huge boost in the company’s exposure worldwide. Willie’s influence in the transformation and growth of Duck Commander is also attributed to his leadership style, philosophy, and personal values. Willie Robertson was born in April 22, 1972 to Phil and Kay Robertson in Bernice, Louisiana. Willie is the third child of the family with two older brothers and one younger brother. Willie’s entrepreneur and leadership skills began when he was in 5th grade by establishing his first successful business career as a candy salesman at his elementary school. He began his operation by taking a case of bubble gum that had been given to his family to school and selling it out of his locker. Robertson charged a quarter for each piece of gum and took his profits and purchased more cases of candy and it was there where he made his first leap into the business world. He capitalized on the deficiencies of his school’s concession
There have been many great leaders in history. The leader I choose is Gunnery Sgt. Carlos Hathcock. Carlos joined the Marine corps on his 17th birthday and he set a record that was never beaten at the “A” course at USMC Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina, and defeated 3,000 other shooters to win the coveted Wimbledon cup for snipers. I choose Carlos because he inspires Marines still to this day with his amazing feats. He had 93 confirmed kills including that of an NVA general deep in enemy territory, a female interrogator known for brutal torture, and the record breaking 2,500 yard kill of a guerilla with a M2 .50-cal machine gun in single fire mode. In short he's a true hero of the Marine Corps and even trained soldiers too. He had
The book, “Remarkable Leadership”, is significant in our leadership discussion because its main focus is on bringing out the leader quality in all of us. The book’s premises rest on the belief that leaders maybe born but they can also be developed, thus leadership is learnt. The author draws reference on the fact that we are all born with some sort of talent/gift or we may have an interest in something that needs to be developed through training. The critical concepts in the books discuss the qualities and roles that leader should possess, which include being; an advocate for change, an effective communicator, a teacher/mentor, develop necessary relationship, being an innovator, know the importance of teamwork, and one who values learning continuously.
“The Things They Carried,” written by Tim O’Brien, is a powerful short story regarding the Vietnam war. The author’s personal involvement with the army as an infantryman through the Vietnam war allows for the text to include realistic detail regarding a deployment. Although much of the story itself is simply describing what soldiers carried, relating back to the title, it also tells the story of Lieutenant Jimmy Cross, an officer, leading his men through marching from village to village. Through the story, Cross realizes what true leadership requires, but only after losing one of his men due to his lack of strong leadership. The text conveys that leadership is to lead others no matter the consequences and by disregarding love; O’Brien does this b y showing how love negatively impacted Cross, what possible consequences of strict leadership are, and the weight that a leader must carry.
Once they had three of their children Phil became an alcoholic and left the family. Kay allowed him back in if he accepted the word of God and the gospel. A few years later Phil wanted a duck call that sounded very realistic, so he took it upon himself and started the company Duck Commander. While this was going on, one summer Willie attended a Christian summer camp and met Korie. Seven years later, they went to college at Harding University together and ended up getting married. In about twenty years, the family business was growing and Phil and Kay could not keep up with the demand, so Korie and Willie bought half the company. Willie made great changes and turned the company into the successful entity it is today. Korie and Willie had two kids and three adopted children and Willie finally had the success he dreamed of -- he is no longer living in poverty. The family continues to run their business and film for their TV show: Duck Dynasty.
Throughout history, there have been many influential leaders. Governors have a large leadership role in the everyday lives of people. A governor is an elected official who is the head of a state government in the United States. Much responsibility is placed on the shoulders of the governor. Many people know Ronald Reagan as the 40th president of the United States. However, a lesser known fact is that he was also the 33rd governor or California before his presidency. Before going in-depth about Ronald Reagan and his policies, the history of California will be examined.
From Hoosier, to Glenn Bird, to Scott Skiles, to Bill Walton, there is no greater state for basketball than Indiana. This is also true due to the greatest coach in college basketball, if not all college sports, John Wooden. Like many of his generation he was raised unprivileged. His family resided on a farm with little money, no running water and no electricity. After loosing their farm they moved to a near by city where John thrived on his high school basketball team and went on to attend Purdue University. He won 3 straight All American Awards then ended his career to marry and become a coach at South

Jim Koch is an amazing leader for various reasons. What really stuck with me during the my research was his discipline. When his mind is set on a vision or plan he will do it no matter what. When he traveled to the west for a few years he learned life, what teachers can not really teach you, what the schools and Universities etc, cannot teach you. Quickly, he placed into practice daily, a routine that he would turn into a habit of success. Everyday, he would make sure to do at least three things despite distraction or opportunities. You would think opportunities are priorities, but no. Jim Koch, was teaching himself discipline. The average attention span for an individual is about five seconds, and the focus time very limited and short. Koch

This reflection essay is meant to examine the various aspects of the charismatic leadership of Preston Tucker in the movie Tucker. Tucker is a movie about Preston Tucker’s endeavor to create an advanced car for Post-World War II America. Preston Tucker’s vision of this futuristic car includes revolutionary features such as seatbelts, pop-out windshields, and an engine in the rear rather than the front of the car. Preston is able to build this car (and his company) from the ground up by inspiring and empowering his followers to meet endless challenges. Preston Tucker’s charismatic leadership will be examined by examining his leadership style, vision, and how he empowered his followers.
A.) Chris is most closely classified as a dictator, though a loving one. He has exercised his power to its full extent on many occasions, and isn't afraid to admit he can be a little impatient. However, he will put the needs of the kids he is in charge of first if the situation calls for it, and he is, of course, a kind and loving man, just as you'd expect of someone in his position.
I was asked to write and submit a 4-6 page book summary of the text “Overcoming the Dark Side of Leadership” by Gary L. McIntosh and Samuel D. Rima. This book report should summarize the basic purpose of the book, the most important leadership principles contained, and the student’s evaluation of the book’s strengths and weaknesses. The goals of this book are to guide the reader in understanding what the dark side is, assist the reader in identifying your own dark side, and give the reader some specific steps for overcoming the dark side lurking on your success before you unexpectedly get blindsided by it.
Donald trump is a candidate for the presidency representing the republic party. His leadership style is unconventional and radical. He has no care for foreign policy’s or minorities. He has been compared to president Clinton in several articles with his practices. According to Dodo (2016) “The passage of North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) in 1994 and the offensive charm of President Clinton to slowly weaken the Unions and expose the working American families to relentless competition from the globalized world economy, planted the seed of the discontentment of the independents, Democrats, low-working class America, and all other angry voters that are flocking to Mr. Trump. Hence, NAFTA, with all fairness, could be considered among one of the most important political legacies of Bill Clinton, together with the repeal of the Glass Seagal Act in 1999. (3) Mr. Trump´s denunciation of the bad trade deals made in the name of free trade, and the never ending closing of factories, and the incessant outsourcing and offshoring of millions of American jobs to countries such as China, Mexico, Indonesia, Vietnam and India, just to cite a few, resonate very strongly primarily with the blue collar working people that are not sold on the virtue of free trade.” Donald trump is a bad reflection on government and does not represent this country well.
Sam Walton 's first venture as a milk boy is when he understood the value of a dollar and the knowledge of how far a dollar could take one in life. From Sam 's first five and dime stores in the 1950 's to his opening of the first Wal-Mart in Rogers, Arkansas in 1962, no one could have predicted the enormous success of this small-town merchant. Today, fourteen years after his death, Wal-Mart continues to grow and leadership of this company continues to rely on many of the traditional goals and philosophies that Mr. Walton left behind. In keeping one step
