My parents both went to college and have always encouraged me to do what I want with my life. I plan on attending Ferris State University and getting a degree in Graphic Design and Marketing. Getting financial aid for college would be extremely appreciated. Once I graduate, there will be two kids in my family going to college and it would really help to get aid in the payment of my future. Throughout my high school years I have learned that growth comes from experience. Through mistakes you learn what not to do, through struggles you learn how to rise above, and through high school I have learned that hard work really does pay off. I have been an honor roll student for the entirety of my high school career which has led me to many opportunities
I am Connie Alarcon a junior at Valley High School and my growth both personally and academically this school year has been one of the most mentally exhausting years of my life. This year truly made me mentally stronger, as well as changed me as a person and displayed academic growth in me , it taught me valuable things that I know will help me in the future. What this year truly taught me that i will forever value and always try to remember as I go through life is that at the end of the day I will be the only one who cares enough and has to fight for the future I want, nobody else will be able to fight for my future the one I want as much as I can and will.
When I heard about this program I was immediately drawn to it, because I am the type of person who wants to stand out (in a good way of course). Being accepted into the University Honors Program at TAMIU will provide me with the experience and knowledge that I need to pursue my career as an engineer. As an honors student, I will be able to enhance my communication, research, and leadership skills, which not only will assist me through college, but through my career life as well. I will be able to challenge myself through these courses, thus, making me a better and more responsible student. I have no doubt in my abilities to maintain a high GPA, and I believe I will benefit from the supplementary educational benefits when I transfer to A&M College
High school we became responsible for our actions and in turn were consicinsous. Moral principles in the classroom. Learned to listen to everyone know everyone and try and understand everyone, due to having a graduating class of 40 students.
A global citizen should be someone who is able to create solutions, think critically, and efficiently work well with others in order to accomplish certain goals. Barrett, The Honors College, allows their students to conduct inspiring research, learn in a transcending academic environment, and engage with people and issues.
It has always been difficult for me to ask others for money, I work two jobs to pay for my own gas and for going out with friends so that I don’t have to ask my parents for money. But looking at the current cost of attending college, I’m not sure that will be an option. My parents have made it their goal to prepare me for life in the real world and to give me every opportunity to succeed when I start making my own decisions; part of that preparation is sending me off to college. My parents are helping me pay for a four-year degree at the college of my choice: Texas Tech University to major in Industrial Engineering, but that does not mean that all the work is said and done. My parents want to pay for my college, but this will not be easy. Our family lives very well in a good house in a good city because my Dad learned to manage money growing up in a house of 5 kids
Being in the Honors Program would be challenging obstacle. You will have more tests, more homework, and will be able to take the AP exam for some classes. So in the process of these classes you are being prepared for higher classes like the IB and/or AP courses. I think that the Honors Program will prepare me for the higher courses because in the classes they prepare you for your future. The classes will will help you to exceed in IB and/or AP because of the high expectations that the teachers hold to your ability. Also in college when high expectations need to be met you will have a lot more confidence because you know what the teachers are going to expect from you. This program will also help my writing skills improve because in High School
When my parents and I first talked about college, they told me that my way to help pay for my costly tuition would be working hard in my studies and applying for scholarships. Throughout high school I have worked diligently to meet these standards. I have decided to major in music education because I have a passion for creating and teaching music. A career in music does not leave much room for student loans so I have decided that in order to attend the college of my dreams, I will apply for many scholarships to do my part in my agreement with my parents.
When I was in my freshmen year I lost my mother to long battle with cancer. After the loss of my: carer, mentor, cheerleader, and friend I was left devastated. I loss focus for the year and ultimately was defeated. After healing I challenged school once more at full force and took every honors, AP, and college in high school I could. Now at the end of my high school career I finish on the honors roll and have several college credits already under my belt. I am aiming to Bachelor’s degree in computer science, a field I love, in Slippery Rock university.
As I think back on my high school career, of which I seem to be doing more and more lately, I now realize that I was fortunate enough to have more positive than negative experiences. I remember as I left middle school my main goal was to attend a high school where I would be able to further my athletic abilities. Luckily for me I went to a school which was great in both athletics and academics.
Growth can really impact your life. You can grow as a person into college and beyond that. “How will I grow”? To set goals that I can't achieve right away Therefore, I will push myself to achieve it later in my life. How am I going to graduate high school when I didn’t even graduate 8th grade. This goal is perfect for making me grow. I will learn more become more mature as the times go on. When I get to my goal I would have grown, developed into another person. School is one of the most important parts of your legacy and graduating would open tons of more doors that you can follow. School isn’t the only things, outside of school could be important as well. I would want to graduate from High school to a good college. I will work hard and improve everyday. Goals need to be set now so you can grow on them to improve to achieve
I have always wanted to help relieve my parents from stress and work, provide for them without calling for financial help, and live with minimal troubles. As I grew older, I realized the only way that I could aid my parents: I need to go to school and do well. I worked as hard as I could in all my classes at school, pushing myself as much as I could to advance to the next year with my best. College is the next step, but how could I get through it without financial problems that could grow worse anytime? This question pestered me relentlessly everytime I think about attending college until I decided I need to apply for any scholarship that would help me reach my life goals.
While in high school I always could not do all the activities I wanted because I had to take care of younger siblings because my parents worked. Out of the ones I did do though there were a few that I found impacted me. I chose to do Fencing in 10th grade and I am especially thankful I did. It provided me with skills that I could later use and a tight knit, trusty group of friends who were always there for each other. We congratulated each other in each success and picked each other back up after every defeat. We helped each other outside of Fencing too. I also was accepted in Morehead’s Health Science Academy and that made my high school experience even better in my opinion. We learned from each other and helped each other. We laughed, we
My high school experiences have helped me transition into adulthood. From my classes I took my Freshman year to now, my Senior year have prepared me and taught me skills I will use in life. Many of my teachers have also helped guide me to where I am now from class lessons to life lessons. Multiple family members and friends who have motivated me to reach where I am now. As well as me pushing myself to maintain a job and to start saving money to prepare me for my future.
High school is one of the most important lessons that any kid can have. High school has taught me many important lessons for my future. I learned how to have responsibility, and not care what people think.
College was only made possible for me because of the school system I went to. Kalamazoo Public schools was able to offer to pay for 65% of my college tuition. As wonderful and helpful as it is, it certainly does not cover everything. My parents cannot offer me assistance as they struggle to make ends meet for the rest of their children. I already work near full time and that barely cuts it being that I still have to cover basic needs to live out on my own. Regardless I keep pushing in every way that I can to provide myself with the best equipped and beneficial experiences. So, receiving assistance in any way, small or large, will help keep one foot in front of the other. It would especially be a rewarding feeling if my college, College of Arts and Sciences, supported me in my decision making and helped make the journey possible. If my college had my back it would help entice me to speak up and represent my school more frequently at my own free will, than feeling like I had to set aside time for it.
