Accountability - Tinsley et. al, (2011) argues that when the team at the PMO of Pinellas County are aware of near misses, they tend to downgrade their importance. One way to limit this potentially dangerous effect is to require managers to justify their assessments of near misses. Evaluate - Tinsley et. al, (2011) says, when things go badly, PMO of Pinellas County managers commonly conduct investigations to determine causes and prevent recurrences. When they go well, however, few do formal reviews of the success to capture its lessons. Because near misses can look like successes, they often escape scrutiny.
Should anyone be excused legally or morally for his or her behavior? In most cases I would say no, although there are a few instances in which I would also say yes. In my opinion, all individuals should be held accountable for their behavior. Although, the extent of that accountability should vary from person to person based on their mental capabilities and physical handicaps. In some cases, such as with juveniles, I believe their parents should be held accountable also.
Brandon, I enjoyed reading your post as you had some interesting ideas. I disagree with you on the first point. In a correctional setting, most decisions on what to do in different situations should already be set in stone to prevent disorder in the closed in setting. If a corrections officer has an idea to make things better, it should be sent up the chain of command for review. This strong type of accountability is needed in corrections because 113 corrections officers were fatally injured between 1999 and 2008 (Konda et al, 2013). I do agree that when employees become disconnected from administration, they lose focus and only do minimal work. An easy way to prevent this is to hold periodic employee meetings that are attended
Patrick has addressed an issue that all supervisors dread. To add to the direct visible issue of the job not being performed correctly, there is the aspect of dependence on other employees or offices for the directly effected employee must depend. I think that there are some critical information missing from the evaluation process which may have led to the dismissal of this employee.
No matter what you do in life whether it is being a teacher, cop, secretary, forensic scientist, or in my case, Marine, you will always find one thing in common. Within all of these jobs you will find that accountability is very important. You will also find that within keeping accountability you will not succeed. Accountability is knowing the amount of items or people in which you are responsible for. Accountability is also knowing where the items and people are at all times. While knowing where everything and everyone is, you also need to keep record of everything. All the aspects of accountability are important because without it things would be in chaos. The way I am going to explain the importance of accountability will be through my
2. Communicate clearly up and down the chain, to ensure clear understanding of tasks and missions.
NCLB opposition state that test by the state are made easier. But schools are taking necessary measures so achievement appears higher than it actually is (Wright, 1999). Teacher and parents express discomfort regarding standardization progress. Many states were invited to request flexibility in relation to No Child Left behind Act of 2001 (NCLB) in exchange for rigorous and comprehensive State-developed plans (ed.gov). Though, it is created for the improvement of every student educational outcome while closing achievement gaps, increasing equity and instruction quality (ed.gov). However, State of Maryland took advantage of the flexibility under the pilot program known as Differentiated Accountability while helping low performing schools through
The student should not bring anything to school that could cause distraction. She should not do anything that will be distracting and set goals for herself. Gabbi should give herself one big goal and small goals leading up to that big goal. She needs someone accountable, like a teacher or other students, to help her meet these goals.
In the 1990’s, the United States began the “Standards and Accountability Movement” when states started making standards defining what students should be able to do at each grade level and applying assessments to see if the students are meeting those standards. This movement included the governors and corporate leaders to create Achieve, Inc. in 1996. Achieve, Inc. is an independent, non-profit educational organization that works with the states to improve academic standards and strengthen accountability. According to a 2004 report found on the Achieve, Inc website titled Ready or Not: Creating a High School Diploma That Counts, the American Diploma Project (ADP) stated that employers think high school graduates lack the basic writing and math
The Personnel Accountability System (PAS) is used to keep track and identify who is on that particular truck or engine during that operation. For example: once we get off the truck during a structural fire the red, and white passports are removed and put in their respective area. The white either goes to who is in charge of the IDLH and if that hasn’t been setup before entry it stays with the crew chief. The red will stay on the truck to be picked up by the IC or the safety officer. It is the crew chief’s responsibility to make sure the entire pass tags are on that passport, but however just like everything that pertains to safety it is all of our responsibility to make sure we put our pas tags on the passports in the cab during morning checkout.
The project is constructing a database of accountability tracking and personnel actions of Soldiers. The accountability piece is linked to the barcode on each service member’s Department of Defense (DOD) identification cards. Accountability effect pay if the system does not have any actions excusing a Soldier from their absences (if the Commander approves). To execute, the project manager will need the material specialist to order the hardware and monitor, so the equipment arrives in a timely manner at minimum. Best case scenario, the material specialist will receive the equipment ahead of schedule, which will allow the project to proceed faster than planned. Moreover, the material specialist must be able to react expediently to the risk of receiving
The area of concerns you identified regarding PPE is of utmost importance. You asserted that "ignorance of risks" was part of the reason for non-compliant use of PPE. MRSA is not something to be taken lightly and I find that disturbing and interesting that professionals would be unknowledgeable of potential risks? Perhaps the 'Blameless System' would be an additional approach in addressing these types of issues within an organization. This system employs the idea that errors are considered "learning opportunities" instead of inefficiency in skills ( Merrill, 2015, p. 322). Therefore, establishing a culture of safety among patients and providers by using a "non-punitive system" achieves "high reliability"( Wyatt, 2013, para 1)
I think James is the one playing the worst game this summer, but here he is. He was protected early on by Paulie’s reign of power and even did the house’s dirty taking out Frank, who was not coming for him. He later turned on Da’Vonne who was one of his most loyal allies by exposing her to Paulie and ratting out her plan to target the showmances. The following week James decided to strike at Paulie by cancelling Corey’s vote and sending his showmance partner Zakiyah home. It’s a big move, but the problem is that James was cornered into this move by Paulie’s personal attacks on Natalie and Bridgette, Natalie, Michelle forcing him to do it. During Natalie’s HOH week, he decided that sending home Victor was the best move, but then Victor re-entered
The responsibility and goal of each team member /sales rep is to generate business by making calls to merchants, delivering
The discussion covering leadership and followership incorporated a topic that struck a nerve with me. When we went into detail about the Five Common Dysfunctions of a Team but, more specifically the Avoidance of Accountability potion of Chapter One of the NCOA Distance Learning Course. The material stated, “substandard performance or behaviors is oftentimes counterproductive and detrimental to the team’s success and merits correction.” I have never been the type of person to “pass the buck” on a mistake, if you commit the infraction then you need to be able to accept responsibility. Being able to do accomplish this with my peers and subordinates knowing will speak volumes about who I am as a person. It will ultimately enhance my leadership
The concept of accountability is to present to the public of how governmental resources are acquired and being used to provide services. Public officials have the responsibility on informing the public on how the government is utilizing their money, especially to the taxpayers. Accountability means having a transparent view on the government’s financial data such as the assets, liabilities, revenues, and expenses. Accountability is the cornerstone of all financial reporting in government. For example, the federal government can demonstrate accountability through financial reporting by providing information to evaluate operating performances. Under the state and local government, accountability is assed in financial reporting by showing reports
