From what I read and watching the trailer of Eat Drink Man Woman I think that the whole movie, it will be about a father that he has to take responsibility that he been forced at him from life and society. And one of the duties is his daughters that he wants to know everything that they do, but the daughters had a different interest in life that they are looking for and one of them is finding love and someone who they want to be with. Also, the cooking skills that the father has it reminds me of “Like Water for Chocolate,” the young girl used cooking to express her loneliness and feelings, and both characters in both stories lost their loved one that they dreamed to be with forever. Also, I find that the division of characters is equal between
A similarity noticed was the main topic of each story. Each express their view and their experience living in America. Both being girls living in an American society. Both talking about their American identity while being a mix of different ethnicities.
The main character is sent by his father to stay with his grandmother. This is where you learn that the strong heart runs in the family. This is true because she is a seventy-eight year old woman and will still patch out two acres of corn and make enough bread for the winter to do what she can to keep her family feed. In her old age she hasn’t kept the best health. Some days she is too sick to get out of the bed. The main character takes care of her he cooks all the meals for her and helps her start to feel better. Living with her he hears stories of his father and how he is an honest man. Also his grandmother tells him about his grandfather and all the great things he would do. Living with his grandmother is a great experience for the main character because she brings him history of his family and teaches him many things on how to live a content life.

Laura Esquivel's Like Water for Chocolate The novel “Like Water for Chocolate” written by Laura Esquivel is a historical piece of South-American literature which is parallel to the Mexican Revolution which took place at the start of the twentieth century. The De La Garza family in the novel emphasizes certain similarities with the things going on during the Mexican Revolution, especially with the people in the lower rank. One important structural device used in the novel is the use of recipes which is found in each chapter and sets the overall mood and atmosphere for that particular chapter, the mood or feelings of Tita.
Much like in the “Eat Me/Drink Me” scene, the Disney version softens some of the harsher aspects of this scene. Once again, visual aspects are used to give the scene a more innocent look. Disney repeats the use of pastel colors to make things to appear less threatening, and much more innocent. Most of the dishes are pastel in color, and animated to resemble animals, giving the whole scene an air of absurdity and childlike wonder. Furthermore, the characters in this scene are simply so absurd, it is hard to think of them as actually being spiteful towards Alice. There is also a decided shift in the way Alice joins the party. She again sits down without being invited, but after she compliments their singing, they immediately invite her to join
“A Family Supper” by Kazuo Inshiguro and “Saboteur” by Ha Jin. Two different stories with two different settings and different characters. The first story was written by a Japanese author while the second by a Chinese author. Despite the many differences in the two stories still they have one thing in common between them. Both of the authors were able to created rounded characters in their stories, as Inshiguro’s characters father from “A Family Supper”, and Mr. Chiu from “Saboteur”. Because they are both hard, self-centered and caring.
